Is there like a guarantee a key can be found after 10 minutes?

Times I've found a useable key in maybe 2,000 survivor matches....2?

Times I've had survivors not only find a key and have multiple escape...but also in a match where it is LITERALLY the only way they're going to manage to all escape. 15-20?

Had some matches against teams that just make progress on gens every single second you're chasing someone. Only saving grace is when they mess up and I manage to kill one of them but they left the final 3 gens together and no one has progressed with them yet. When this happens and someone finds a key and they all escape. It is beyond the crappiest feeling a killer can experience in game.

Should this be another instance of me being baffled by how bad my luck can be at times or is there actually something to this?

If you're a Survivor that doesn't take the chest perks, you're far less likely to find a key on Survivor side than on the Killer side where there's 4 chances of someone taking chest perks.

If you loot chests on a regular basis, you'll find keys occasionally, without using Plunderer's. There's nothing more to it.

The real problem is the key itself. It's a free escape for survivors and the killer can't do anything against it.

Items are not offerings. If killers could randomly get a Memento Mori mid-trial with a certain probability while breaking pallets or whatever, then they might be comparable, but they can't, so they're not.

They really aren't. Survivors can get a key and win all because of luck. Killers need to actually bring in a mori and despite it being secret, survivors can still see the secret offering. Thus, they can plan to play more careful and not get caught. Also, of you aren't camping, you have to get them AGAIN to mori them. No killer can really plan for a lucky key find.

@DudeDelicious There's nothing a survivor can do about a mori? Survivors have to get downed twice before they can get mori'd, so it's avoidable.

@NoShinyPony Not just downed twice. Survivors have to be found (fail at stealth), get hit twice (lose a chase), get hooked, be rescued (which the killer must allow if they want to get any use out of their mori), be found again (fail at stealth again), get hit twice again (lose another chase), and then finally the killer can kill them.

@Orion Yup & of course. I wanted to keep it short and sweet. ☺️

@NoShinyPony I get it, but I just wanted to emphasize how much the survivor has to ######### up in order for the killer to get the chance to use a Memento Mori. I think it's good to point out that the survivor has to fail at everything they're supposed to do, from start to finish, for the killer to have any benefit.

@Orion Good to know, but I'll probably keep tagging you so that the others don't get confused who I'm talking to.
