Traps in-front of hex’s
I’m not sure how everyone feels about this topic, but in my opinion I’m tired of facing killers that trap their hex’s. Specifically, when they trap their devour of hope. In some ways I understand it’s a strategy to kill off survivors, but I feel like is annoying when killers camp it the entire game. Granted they do chases, hook survivors and kick gens, but the moment a survivor steps or touches the trap placed in front of the hex, they run back full speed. I wonder if the dev’s could add a range distance from placing traps around hex’s. In anycase, how do y’all feel about it?

Hexes for the most part are weak and totem spawns are terrible. You would rather nerf people running totem builds and push them to running the same gen slowdown build that everyone runs now just because you couldn’t cleanse a hex totem?
Wild times we live in

Let them have their strengths. I'd rather trap killers play around Devour Hope than full slowdown.

Hex totems atm are horrible. The spawns for totems favor boons (since they are more offten in middle of map or main structures or next to shack, etc.).
8 -
If we can do some basekit buff for the Hex mechanic to make ALL the perks a little better and fix their weaknesses, then I'd be happy to prohibit killers from guarding their Hexes with traps, portals, or whatever.
4 -
How dare they utilise their power to protect something that’s taken down easily otherwise

A new page in the Survivors rulebook has been born.
14 -
I'm already playing trapper and I can't even protect my bones? seriously?...
12 -
How many killers can actually trap the hexes. Hag who has one of the smallest pick rates in the game, trapper, who else? Demo
3 -
Never really minded it, as Survivor. Still don’t mind it.
Although, it would be interesting if Survivors could set a trap around Boon Totems to surprise-stun Killers when they go to snuff ‘em out.
1 -
Disarm the trap and hide. Repeat.
Waste the killer's time while the other three survivors finish gens.

Legit strategy
1 -
Basically this... If a killer is crossing the map to defend the hex, they aren't pressuring gens.
11 -
They should bring back the ability to sabotage traps, but only temporarily like hooks. Perma sabotage is in no way needed. Something should also be added like this for the other killers that can place traps.

Survivors disabling killer powers feels very bad. Disarming traps is fine since the killer can come reset it. But taking a trap away in a manner where the killer can’t do anything about it isn’t something they should bring back.
8 -
There are a grand total of 3 killers who can place traps
Trapper who's already weak
Hag who can be ignored by crouch walking, or using a flashlight if you really want
Freddy who can only trap you in sleep mode
It's such a niche, and weak, playstyle that it's fine unless the devs go wild and intentionally start buffing things

You're right but now isn't a good climate for this kind of change.
It should happen once killer is made healthier as a whole.

The only real person who can trap their hexes is trapper. You can just crouch past hag traps and I guess singu can do his cams but then you can just EMP.
0 -
For hag you can just go up to it and wipe it now, flashlights don't work anymore on her traps.
2 -
Perk of being a trap killer. Trapping the exit gate switches is something Trapper can do nicely despite being a low tier killer.

Demo with Lifeguard Whistle and Resin is really effective against uncoordinated and/or teams, but most competent survivors figure it out pretty quickly and can play around it.
It's one of the few ways you can actually get value out of Devour.
1 -
It’s actually fair to trap hexes considering the spawns are so bad and you can see them from a mile away. So it’s likely your totems go away early game.
3 -
Damn the killer isn't allowing you to cleanse their totem (that spawned out in the open) for free? how toxic you should report him
1 -
They already nerfed Thrill of The Hunt and removed its loud noise notification. Might as well let the two trap killers still be able to trap it.

Do i really need to tell you that Killers defending their hexes is justified when that type of spawn exist? Its right next to a generator. in the open.

That is not even needed, just trigger it when she picks someone up. She either has to drop the survivor immediatly and risk them getting back up or give up the totem for a hook.
That little run to trapped spots while she carries survivor has been the biggest counter to her power since release and i rarely see people do it. Just take the few seconds, run to the closest loops to make sure and go back to gens or whatever.
It also works with Trapper and Pinhead.

I’ve had so many trappers and demos throw matches trying to swat me off their totems. The counter is just constantly going back and forth with the killer to take the totem.

The killers are camping hexes now... the shame.
God forbid a killer wants to preserve a hex to get maximum value out of it. Especially when predictable survivors keep returning to cleanse it and make themselves easy to find and catch as a result.
I personally prefer it when killers wander aimlessly and hope to run into a survivor by random chance then actively patrol known areas of the map where they might be frequently and predictably found.
"Granted they do chases, hook survivors and kick gens, but the moment a survivor steps or touches the trap placed in front of the hex, they run back full speed. I wonder if the dev’s could add a range distance from placing traps around hex’s. In anycase, how do y’all feel about it?" This is my fav bit... sure the killer is still playing the game as usual but we need to make sure they have no option to play in the way I don't like.
The comedy on these forums never ceases to delight.

PoV: You complain about the slightest bit of resistance from the other side.

I was thinking about this the other day. That it feels like it takes 20 yrs to put up the boon and 2 seconds for killer to snuff it out, so it would be nice if there was something to either extend the duration to take it out, or protect it. Like the blocker for gens but for totems on both sides.
1 -
4 survivors. 1 killer.
no. it should not take more time to snuff a boon you can just put back up
4 -
Okay, then option 2 boon blocker commence it is. Don't touch me boons.

Yeah, always felt the snuff time was just a smidge too brief. A short anti-snuff stun wouldn’t be much of a setback. Considering, survivors would spend “a Killer’s boon-snuff-time” to set it up… or it could be incorporated into the actual Boon set up time.
This could be a fun feature. Even if the Boon just made the Killer yell-out briefly. Survivors Know where the Boon is anyway, so they’re already aware of Killer’s location when it gets snuffed.
It’s still probable. The Devs have been enhancing Killer, more, for a smol while now, so probably wouldn’t happen for a year or so, if they added a Boon Protection feature, anyway.
Surprised the Devs haven’t entertained the idea.

Another great idea for BHVR to implement as part of their ongoing basekit survivor buff feature series

So trapper shouldn't use traps to his advantage?
1 -
Hag's interaction with flashlights was removed. Now you can crouch up to them and wipe them away by hand, but can't flashlight delete them anymore.
0 -
So they're even easier to get rid of? Just like the other guy said
0 -
Outside of chase, sure. However you don't have ppl erasing them MID chase anymore.
