Does anyone know how the Licencing is coming along?
Kinda annoyed that I decided to main Quentin when I was new to the game. I have all these shard and nothing to spend them on.
I remember hearing that a Dev said they had something interesting coming up for a few Licenced characters sometime last November - a lot of people speculated it was new cosmetics for Myers due to the new Halloween movie coming out, but nothing happened and its been months now.
Can we get an update on how this is coming along?

If the company does not want their proprietary characters changed, there is nothing DBD can do about it. Even if BHVR was close to reaching a deal with any owner if it falls through then it's not going to happen.
This is why I never understood the demand for licensed characters/killers in this game.

But the thing is I remember a Dev saying they had something in store, most likely for Myers and potentially others. I wanted an update on how this is going; they wouldn't say they have something planned when the owners of the proprietary characters said no.

Halloween and Saw is more likely to get content due to the people behind the licensing for them generally being cool people, and due to the fact that we can see stuff with Michael and Billy the Puppet due to their extreme popularity in media. Plus it helps with marketing for their movies. Thatβs just my theory on it all though :)

I'll wait as long as i possibly can until something can be done with the guys over at Saw, Because i will say this time and time again, i know for sure they have something for Tapp and The Pig they are just dying to add into the game.

It's highly unlikely that any licensed survivor is going to get any love. Maybe Grandma Laurie could be an option, but that's about it. Myers, Freddy and Leatherface are the likely recipients. I don't think Pig has many iconic looks.

@Sharmarko hate to break it to you, but when they do release licensed cosmetics, they are going to cost auric cells. No source, only that's just how business works.
I'm still holding out for my Tom Savini leather face!

Yea I feel you bro... I've been waiting for months to see what's going on and the Devs have been nothing but hush hush on it. I just wish they communicate a little bit more with the community and let us know if it's a done deal or not and stop beating around the bush.

Not only that, but Quentin doesnβt have a lot of variation in the movie when it comes to fashion. The same goes for Freddy (and Bill too). They literally have everything they ever wear in the game already.
All of the other licensed characters have room for more cosmetics though.

Maybe theyβre still negotiating so they donβt even know if itβs βa done deal or not.β

Freddy cosmetics could work if the rights holders are willing to plumb the Englund movies. It's not like the version of Freddy in the game is faithful to the remake anyway, even the sweater colour is wrong.

Maybe there are two separate license holders. One for the originals and one for the remake. If not, then they could definitely get some new outfits.

As far as I'm aware, New Line is responsible for the entire franchise, unlike many other horror franchises where the rights are split.

@Sharmarko the devs never said any such thing. What they have said many times is, it is very unlikely that they will ever add another licensed character, but not impossible. Licensing fees are very significant, and usually mean a net loss, or break even at best.

They're talking about new cosmetic items for licensed characters, not new characters.

But can we all agree that Laurie and Tapp deserve better cosmetics?

I think you are confused. I'm not talking about new licenses, I'm talking about adding to current licenses which the Devs did say they were potentially doing last November.

If the devs are in the process of negotiating this, giving many details other than "we're looking into it" could present an issue for said negotiations.

Quentin will be the last one who gets new cosmetics. Myers and Laurie will get them if anyone.

Quentin should not even have been the survivor for Freddy. Nancy should have. She is the equivalent to Freddy of what Laurie is to Michael in terms of survivor against him in the movies.

honestly

But Nancy is a useless character in the movie. Quentin did far more than her while she went "Oh no, Mr Freddy, dont look up my school girl uniform skirt! π«".
Not to mention Quentin filled one very needed "Survivor type" we were missing, the "male teen". Dwight is the young adult, Jake is the Asian-ish man, Ace the old guy. Even after his release, we still lack another one like him.

I really like Quentin. The movie was "meh" in general but Quentin seemed cool.
That's probably why I subconsciously picked Quentin - he is the most similar to me being a male teen.

I'm not talking about the characterization the crappy remake version got. I mean Nancy in general. Her status as a character in the NOES lore is far more important than Quentin's. Just because she got one bad version of herself doesn't diminish her importance as Freddy's number one nemesis.

Maybe, but our Nightmare on Elm Street on DbD is the one from the 2010 movie, not the entire franchise. And THAT version of Nancy is not good enough main character material.

It's been so long. ;( Those jake skins are looking tempting, but I don't want to splash out on a new survivor if Quentin's cosmetics are confirmed.
