Trying Killer First Time in forever

I wish the matchmaking on system was a bit different and not just based on the character level you are using? I normally do not play killer and if anything I am a very nice killer. I mean I try to make sure we all have fun. I could tell that the survivors were maybe on headset but that they also used survivors they have not used. That gives them a low play score matching them with me. I may be wrong on how this matchmaking is set but it seemed odd that no level survivors had skills like that. They timed their flashlight saves and just spent most the match wanting to be chased but a VERY inexperienced killer.


I know it is said many times but this is why I have lost interest in this game even given the new chapters every few months. It is really only the die hard fans that seem to stick around. I am not saying I hate the game and actually I love it and love seeing the new stuff but I hate how people "Smurf" the game ruining it for new Killers and such. It almost makes the now only old players trying new roles not want to ever try but overall new players probably think this game it to tough be it survivor or killer. I am still happy for all the time this game has given me and will still time to time play survivor like once a month but I think it is again going back on the bottom of my list. I hope you all however continue to have great games and please make great content for us to watch! =)

    Well, that's how matchmaking in DbD strangely works. Groups of pre-made survivors (SWF) can potentially get weaker killers, if each individual isn't extremely good. Still, they have the communication advantage and you, as a killer, need to play against five people - against the survivors and against yourself. I had a similar problem in DbD, were I tried to be nice, yet matches were either really difficult or I got toxic people that didn't appreciate that I played nicely, so everyone could have fun. Perhaps I'll take a look into DbD soon, but I can understand that it can get dull and unfun quite easily (if you get bad matches). And that's why I've not played DbD for months...

    You make wrong assumptions. Matchmaking has nothing to do with prestige or character level. It uses an elo like mmr system, that is KILLER SPECIFIC and decays if you haven't played that particular killer in a long time.

    If you have never played huntress before for example, you will be at beginner mmr, even if you are world best blight or something.

    The only thing that affects mmr is win/loss, where an escape is a win for a survivor and death is loss, and 4k is a win for killer and below 2k is a loss for killer.

    MOST IMPORTANTLY, survivors cannot change characters to "trick" the mmr system. They are treated as the same character in all survs.

    This unfortunate game happened probably because you waited too long to get a game and the matchmaking was lenient as a result, or they had a very bad player in the team bringing down their average mmr. These things happen man. I would suggest not to be down about it and simply play more killer, not focusing on kills but good plays.
