Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Tunneling Is Out of Hand

3 out of the 4 survivor games today I got hard tunneled starting at 5 gens and there was nothing I could do. I didn’t even get the chance to touch a generator. Something needs to change if anti-tunnel perks like DS aren’t allowed to do what they’re suppose to.

It really doesn’t help that after all these years, we only have two perks that help with anti-tunneling(DS & OTR).

oke i give you another idea.

kill tunneling completly with one update forever.

make the survivor loose all collision for 3 to 5 minutes. that effect end if the survivor does any of the usual game progrssing things(gens totems gates etc), this effect does not apply when the gates are powered. while under this effect the survivor is not able to use items or interact with pallets.

there tunneling is dead no negatives. if that leads to lower kill rates then bhvr likes buff killers. the only negative i could think of is that technically a survivor could follow the killer around and make call outs to his swf via coms but thats a swf is stupid problem

People should really be using Wicked more, 20 seconds of aura reading to avoid the killer has saved me almost every game I don't think I'm ever the first to die since I started using it

Tunneled at 4-5 gens 10/14 games today. The other 4 someone else was tunneled. DBD is boring now and it's the players faults

Well it's neccessary for many weaker killers and agains't good teams. Maybe there could be limit that before survivors have done 150% gen proggress survivor could have basekit 7s ds. But at 3 gens and less completely fair to tunnel.

The issue is there’s a paradox when it comes to tunelling; BHVR implement anti-tunnel perks (OTR, for example) whilst still allowing tunelling to be a viable strategy that rewards the killer 99% of the time. Lately, it feels like in at least half of my solo-queue games, a survivor gets tunnelled out early on to create a 3v1. If there’s 3+ gens left then it’s an automatic win for the killer. Tunelling is only punished if they decide to target a really skilled survivor who can loop well, or a well coordinated SWF. Sure, it can be risky and backfire, but a lot of the time it’s viable.

Sure, reverting DS to 5-seconds would help, but ultimately players will find ways to play around it (slugging, waiting out DS, etc).

Until BHVR implement any rules or base kit mechanics that punish tunelling, the cycle will just continue.
