Rant

Since the event started I have won exactly one game as a killer because someone felt the need to suicide on first hook (and I still barely managed to get a 3k). 22 of my killer matches were losses and I got 3 draws.

And it's not just that I lost these games. In almost all of them, the survivors refused to finish the last gen for a good 3 minutes. But of course, if I go afk because they refuse to do end the match, I get disconnected! That is beyond messed up.

By now i know that I'm not at 100% because I'm seriously pissed off that I can't seem to have a single enjoyable match. Every game it has been at least 2 FTP + Buckle Up (one match it was 4!) and of course the gens are done in less than 5 minutes anyway. I can take a few bad games. But this is too much. I'm so incredibly mad at this damn matchmaking and BHVR's failed attempt to contain cheaters in any way.

In the last 3 games I saw a total of 5 cheaters! What in the world is going on? How can you mess up so bad? I'm speechless. The 1 game that actually looked like it might work out for me, I lost because 2 survivors could kobe. I'm almost convinced that this wasn't legit either because the likelihood of something like this is so insanely low but I can't tell for sure. I checked, if they brought any luck offerings or perks but nope. That was just 2 kobes.

I have learned from this though. From now on, I will stop playing the second I see a single FTP + Buckle Up. I will also stop playing nice. From now it's full meta, best killers and addons as well as map offerings for Midwich and hard tunneling every game. Because I'm done with being someone else's plaything in this game.

Rant over. You can go home now.

Helpful tip in this game just try to make your goal as killer to kill one survivor or achieve 3 hook states. Currently, this is my goal and all I ever aim for anymore.

For the one kill, try perks like rancor or end game perks.

For 3 or 4 hook states, try perks like grim embrace, pop, pain res, dead lock, Corrupt intervention.

Or try for a unique killer thing, like 2 hits with Weskers dash or 1 hit with pigs ambush attack etc.

If the game is still upsetting you take a break it really helps.

Just out of curiosity, do you play Dbd sober? If so, perhaps changing that would be a step in the right direction.

Survivors can't outplay you if you outplay yourself, and If they decide to be poor sports by saying gg ez you can just say " I hope so because I'm half comatose"

Idk, I feel it's easier to take this game in stride that way. Not suggesting you actually do, I just personally cannot play Dbd unless I'm literally trashed

Thank you for the nice words. I too hope your matches on Freddy will soon get better.

No worries, friend! I am sure your trials will get better eventually.

Though, I gotta say I haven't been playing Freddy that much recently. Still trying to get him to P100, but Claudette and Sable are acting as his sugar mommies for Bloodpoints. If I feel like playing killer, I am going with Skull Merchant.

Just on a sidenote, I had the strangest lobby occurence as a killer today. I joined a lobby of 4 survivors already waiting, one of them being a mighty p100. Nontheless, I ready up imediately and after a couple of seconds the p100 survivor lobby dodges. After a short while the vaccant spot gets replaced by another, but different, p100 survivor. They assess the situation for a while ... and dodge ... only to be replaced by YET ANOTHER p100 survivor! Dang ... this one also assesses the situation and then ... switches to his p1 Alan Wake last second. Everything was reversed this match and it hadn't even started yet :P

Well, they took me to Lerys and it was rather tough and I barely managed to kill one off before the last gen popped, but during the EGC I managed to shoo one out, and down the two wounded survivors, resulting in a last minute 3K.

But really, three p100 backfills back to back, only to switch to a p1 in the last second ... shows again that p-levels mean basically nothing, UNLESS its a full group that look like a well oiled SWF, then it means trouble.

Not exactly on topic, but it is a kinda rant ;D

Everytime i have bad times as killer, I remember that even the best of the best players I watch lose (or at least sweat like the last time) as soon as they go into a match against at least somehow good survivors.

I'm watching one pretty popular streamer who wins 99.5% of his matches, but idk why he plays 90% of the matches against terribly weak survivors. And when he comes against a good team, the only things that help him are hardcore tunneling and full meta.

But more than 80% of loses, wow... It seems that I only had this once when MMR was just introduced and worked as it should. I can only wish you patience. We're all in this boat and we understand you perfectly.

I see posts like this and I wonder if killers like you—primary killer players—have a rough go of it because you’ve had an easier time increasing your MMR as killer.

@Bafugaboo alluded to it, but your games are probably the result of MMR finding opponents at, near, or slightly beyond your skill level. If you find the games that miserable, play in a way so that your MMR drops to a range more comfortable for you.

Can I get these 'insane' survivors that you're getting when I play killer? With plague I haven't lost a single match in months and I've played a solid 100 matches on her and I still vs the same terrible survivors. Sometimes I stomp so hard that they can't even complete a single gen.

On spirit I'd to try to lose and even then haven't lost a single game in months and I don't even use her brainless addon combo (mdr/blossom). I only play spirit because it's how I stay fresh on looping her for longer, even though most of the chase is just guessing.

I picked trickster up after his update to gauge his strength and out of 50 matches I maybe lost 3.

Nemesis I only play with 2 perks to give me an excuse to tunnel because it's funny on him, and i still have like a 70%+ winrate. Most "losses" just beings draws because I brainlessly tunnel on him and don't pressure the gen crankers.

Still, I genuinely don't understand how people are losing 20+ matches!? I guess I can test myself and start playing doctor in pubs (I only play him in 1v1s vs my duo who is an insane survivor) and see my results. But losing that many games just sounds made up because of how bad matchmaking is.

I'm gonna make an alt youtube account, since my main is for survivor and I'll start uploading all my killer matches and remove mic audio so that if there's any questioning of my gameplay, I can always link it.

I am not really losing much but I have noticed more cheaters lately. I had a very obvious one last night in one of my Xeno games. One of those people you chase on an indoor map and never seem to catch. They were definitely faster than normal, could turn scratch marks off, and seemed to be teleporting when they went around corners. In the end game they literally disappeared. Level 0 Steam account too.

This is just a representation of dbd daily life. The event just emphasized that a little bit. If there are decent survivors, the killer is at a disadvantage and basically cannot win. Buckle FTP is a SWF favorite and some killers bring meta Forced Hesitation. It is also useful for hook trading, so there is no loss.

Even in my area, skilled killer cause many impossible matches. My guess is that if the MMR is too high, it will refer to the overflow number and attract bad survivors. Video evidence of forum users shouting that the killer has an advantage only proves how Orz meets so many terrible survivors.

I think I've been dealing with the same thing. Nearly every killer game for the last 3-4 weeks has been way to difficult and stressful. Solo queue is more fun at the moment. It doesn't make sense. I'm not a great killer and haven't had a crazy win streak to raise my MMR above my "normal" levels. This was happening before the event. I think either MMR has been changed again or the survivor player pool has increased and they have gotten a lot better over the last month. I've never experienced anything like this. It doesn't make sense that games have been this bad for this long.

I sincerely doubt it. Usually I run around with 2 perks and play extremely chill. At the moment, I try to get something done by bringing better perks and play more serious. I'm still outmatched. Whatever is going on, I don't think it's because I raised my MMR too much.

It's a possibility though. By now I'm also beginning to see that I make a lot more mistakes than normally. It's probably best to take few days off DBD and come back when I am in a better mood.

Still, I genuinely don't understand how people are losing 20+ matches!?

I don't know what's going on. It's partly because I'm hopelessly outmatched with survivors that I can admit are way better than me, the stuff they bring and because I don't play as good as usual. Not anymore. I usually play with 2 perks (one of which is often Lightborn) and I play chill because I want to prevent things like these. Only it didn't work.

It doesn't help that during the event I was sent to GoJ and The Game quite a few times (all losses). I didn't even get the new map because GoJ is apparently the game's preferred map. I switched killers in the hopes that would improve the situation but so far it hasn't worked. I played Huntress, Deathslinger, Nemesis, Doctor, Dredge, Singularity, Plague, Clown, Trapper, Wraith and Billy so far. It's the same on all of them. I would understand that on Deathslinger and Huntress I struggle a bit because I rarely ever play them but I played Deathslinger for 5 matches and I lost every single one of them.

You have your own personal nurse in case things don't go well. Anyone who has been a killer for any length of time, should know a little about her for your mind be better.

    The Paradox of DBD.

When you sweat, you get newbies and memers.

When you play casual, you get the sweats.

If you go AFK you can't win there's your problem.

I find the game works best when you are at your keyboard and mouse, or controller whatever your poison, to actually press the buttons and move around.

I helps a lot, give it try 👍️

Why don't you just take a second to figure a out a strong build, that works against a 4-man-SWF, for the Killers you are gonna play as. It's what I did. Do I win every match that I go against organised squads? No. But I stand a hell of a better chance than just by using meta or fun/gimmick builds.

Since the event started, out of all the many Killer matches I've played, I can only recall going against 2 chill teams. The rest have been either a SWF or just players that have a good level of experience and game sense. Been a rough event, but it could have been worse if I hadn't actually put thought into my builds, regardless of Killer selection.

I highly recommend doing that for the Killers you play the most. Or go that step further and do it for all Killers if you play the majority of the roster without discrimination.

ok.. didn’t know you played that way. Well maybe it’s dome weird MMR mismatch due to backfilling?

  • Xernoton
    Xernoton Member Posts: 5,799

I doubt backfilling would explain the frequency with which I got these games. Thanks for your contribution though. Whatever happened, I hope it will return to normal soon.

Either way, I have decided I won't play for a few days. My frustration undoubtedly made some of these matches harder than they needed to be.

i've been getting destroyed exceptionally and i can never tell if it's some subtle cheater like a wallhacker because cheating is so common nowadays, and it's killing me. other than that i don't share the experiences, hope it gets a bit better so you can find more fun at least during the event.

Jesus I thought only a bad streak like that exist in solo queue. Tunnel away sometimes u gotta play nasty. Eventually you'll get back in your groove and be able to play chill again.

I mean if you're winning like 1 game out of 20 on Killer you must be doing something to make that happen. My guess is that you're rage afking most of your matches when you perceive the odds to be against you. You've already mentioned that you afk or plan to afk if you see certain perks. Like just play the game win or lose. You won't get better if you just fold at the first hurdle. You would be surprised how many times you can turn a game around after losing 3 gens with barely any hooks.

I think they're touching the MMR and doing experiments without telling us for not biasing us. Like they did the last time they were trying things with the MMR.

Since recently I see a lot of 2k or 4k hours tryhard survivors in my lobbies even in killers with mid or low MMR considering how many wins I have and how frequently I play those killers. Maybe that's the thing happening to you too.

  • Akumakaji
    Akumakaji Member Posts: 5,389

Especially during Events I play rather chill and try to somehow interact funny with the survivors, occasionally, but this event seems that survivors are dead set on leaving in 4min, if they can manage. Sheeesh, never saw the gens fly faster before.

And the SWFs also seem deadset on not allowing a single hook, if they can prevent it. Even the first hook gets saboed and body blocked and protected by layers upon layers of survivor flesh with 🔦 flashlights. Dayum.

This kinda games also have a tendency to snowball in the killer direction, when the first hook ends up with three hook stages on the survivors side, or with one hooked and two downed survivors and the last one wounded and on the go. Really, what's up with them this particular event, that they fight tooth and nail over the most insignificant aspects?

Just in one of my last games of the night I got a quick down, picked the Elodie up and a Felix instantly got I my face trying to blind me (too late) while I saw a Nea with background Player zoom off toc the next hook. On my way to the next fairer off hook I was shadowed by Felix and a Mikaela and just barely got through, because they had expected me to that saboed hook. Afterwards they instantly unhooked and the unhooked Elodie bodyblocked my attempts to go for Felix. Needless to say that after that I tunneled her, because it was obvious that I wouldn't be having the any fun the normal way in this trial.

I mean if you’re burnt out from one role, you could always try your hand at the other. Not sure if you like solo queue but I always advocate for at least a duo SWF.
