Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

I was hyped for the new chapter 2 weeks ago but now I'm really less excited.

What do you think the best way to release a new chapter is. For me all the hype and excitement has just died with the wait being so long and knowing that the chapter has already kinda released in the PTB, it doesn't feel as fresh and exclusively new.

I personally would be happy if the chapter suddenly dropped everywhere instead of a ptb. Anything gamebreaking would either be quickly fixed or pulled from the game temporarily until it's ready.

The killer isn't officially released yet we all have a good sense of how to best play them and with what combination of perks.

I don't understand the point of a ptb, if you introduce bugs into the main game it would be fixed and adjusted anyway. If the new content breaks the game, just pull it until its fixed.

What do you think about how new content is released? What are your thoughts on having a ptb everytime new dlc drops?

I understand perk reworks but if you leave new content in the ptb to dry then it's gonna get old and less hype will surround it.

    You must be new here.

@Tzeentchling9Thinking that any bugs introduced with new content would be fixed asap is a fair assumption. I'm not new here and I dislike the excitement for new content getting stale for having to wait for it.

I stopped participating in the PTBs.

I don't want to spoil the fun with an unbalanced or bugged environment, I'd rather wait it out and hope that they fix / balance it so I can enjoy the content when it's officially released.

The point of a PTB is to have players testing the planned content so they can adjust and fix broken stuff before going live.

i agree with the OP that it kills the excitement. Even though you don't HAVE to play the PTB it's just too hard not to see it when it's available (curiosity).

Except that here they are not. It takes AGES for the devs to fix bugs. Even game breaking ones usually last a week or two at least. They have a long history of bugs in the PTB making it to the live version of the game.

I agree. As ps4 owner it feels old and tired before it's even released.

I understand why they run the PTB before every new chapter, but I don't really care for the process either. It does kind of spoil the hype, especially for console players.

Since they have so many Fog Whisperers now, I feel like they should start testing new content "internally" with them so that everything can remain a surprise for regular players.

You know you don't have to watch their content from the PTB if you don't wanna be spoiled, that is your fault if you spoil yourself to the new content.

@AshleyWB The reason why we have a PTB is so we don't have issues like we had with Freddy. People thought he was super op when he released, so people wanted him to get a nerf. Than he got his nerf cause people were panicking at BHVR to fix the issue quick since it was on live servers and people were starting to give terrible ratings. This could have all been avoided with having the PTB to let players try out the killer before release to see if they are to strong or to weak. If they are even fun to play against or as. Bugs have nothing to do with this and yes bugs do get found as well in the PTB which is nice, so there are less bugs when the update goes live.

Bugs always will happen when an update comes out with this much content in the game anyways and we all know that.

The PTB makes everything much cleaner and the "hype" you are talking about can be better if you don't wanna participate in the PTB. Also not spoil yourself to PTB content online, but that is your choice to make and no one else's choice. "Make your choice" ;)

Yeah I'm feeling the same way. I was so excited for the Plague but now I still am happy to see her come to the game but any Hype I had has died down with how dragged out the release feels. Plus You kind of have already seen and played everything new.

One other thing with the PTB is it probably helps with monetary loses in terms of refunds.

People get to playtest the new killer... buy if they want... Then there will be less chance of that person wanting a refund for it.

They come out with a new killer and have to pull it because of game breaking bugs... that could cause a wave of refund requests... that the Devs might feel obligated to refund since they pulled the product.

I bet during the Freddy fiasco this might have happened.

    Just an idea.

But yeah... it is like a two week tease that lessens the hype for it.

That is your choice to see the killer early and not BHVR's fault for you feeling that way.

Lol okay. The spoilers are everywhere, but sure. Also, I mod a couple of Twitch streams that participate in the PTB. So I need to do my research to help answer questions in chat.

Besides, I'm not throwing a fit about being spoiled or blaming anybody. I just said I don't care for the current process because it's less exciting this way.

Its like buying a new game and knowing how to speedrun it first time playing. The information is already given to you. There is no trial and error to do your own research, its dragged out and flat to be waiting so long.

i think it would have been better to not have a PTB in the first place.

just release the killer and then have like the first two weeks being a testing phase, where you listen to community feedback (without changing anything) and take care of bugs.

i think it would be much better that way, as the hype has died by now...

I never said it was. I'm also not saying I didn't want to be spoiled, If that was the case I would've avoided Streams, Videos, Forums and Reddit completely until the DLC Dropped.

What I'm saying is the way things are now with the wait between Teasers, Trailer, Showcase and PTB to the actual Release It just seems a little dragged out and by the time the DLC Drops the Hype has died down for me.
