Using a VPN is cheating

Using a VPN to get an advantage due to ping is a literal exploit and I have no idea why this isn't against the code of conduct.

Why do we just pretend this isn't what it is, which is cheating

I already know it's considered cheating. Just about every PvP game will ban you for it.

By the way, I'm glad I'm not the only one complaining about this. The sad thing is that nothing will be done about it unless a large number of players quit playing the game, which apparently hasn't happened yet.

They need to have a ping cap or something for games

The general consensus here, even from the mods, is that it's 'discriminatory' to suggest people who have 150+ ms should be restricted from playing on certain servers. I suspect its because the truth is that BHVR just doesn't want to invest in more servers.

The amount of Latin American players that play on NA is frustrating because the game falls apart really badly when the killer has bad ping.

Its not their fault and I don't blame them ofc.

You'd be suprised how many gamers (and content creators) use a VPN in multiplayer games. I'd say in most cases they get invited by their friends who play in different regions. But i always find it silly when they complain about bad ping like… What do you expect is gonna happen? ^ What's not cool is using VPN to play in a less sweaty region for an advantage.

Def'd be nice if online games would have an option to prioritize ping. Or a ping cap, like mentioned here.

I think it depends on which role you are playing, I use ExitLag to play west coast NA (Los Angeles servers) from OCE but only as survivor, which puts me at a disadvantage as I can't greed anything and I often get hit 10 feet past a vault etc.

But if I was playing killer then yes I would consider it unfair as obviously this gives an unfair advantage

It is true players in Asia and South America aren't near any of the game's servers, so many have to VPN around or eat 200+ ping just to play. Globally we need more servers, which costs if they're decent ones.
