I think he looks great. Maybe put in a little more work to make the metal parts of his attire look a bit more metallic and less plastic-y , but that’s about it.

I am disappointed he doesnt summon a Beholder to chase a survivor

Funny enough, he looks accurate to the DnD books

The undead lich is ugly? That sounds like a compliment to the art team.

i mean i think i get what he means. as a non dnd player but a huge wow nerd when i think of lich ofcourse i think of warcrafts lichs that are completly skeletons so i was a but "meh" on the first look but on a second look vecna looks very good and very skeletal undead.

my only gripe would be that his head is to intact for my liking i prefer my undead very obviously undead on every part and his head is lacking that for me but thats what skins are for

Hmm, interesting, I suppose it boils down to the flavour of undead you prefer between animated skeletons or zombies.

To me a Lich is a being arrogant and vein enough to try and cheat death, and thus would likely want to keep as much of its form in life as it possible can.

In fact in relation to this debate, I always found it weird that zombies were always dumb and slow, and skeletons were usually intelligent and agile. My head cannon for explaining this is a zombie is recently deceased, and still has its basic nervous system, brain, muscles and sinew in tact, therefore it takes less necromantic energy to reanimate and function than a skeleton missing all of these things and needing more necromantic energy to fill in the gaps...

...So Zombies are like the bargain, cheaper, easier to create version of the undead, low necromantic effort for a passable pay-off... whereas skeletons require more necromantic energy to animate, and thus are more functional overall.

In relation to this, a Lich to my mind is a zombie that has had a significantly higher "investment" shall we say… After all you'd go all out on reanimating yourself if you were so inclined wouldn't you? 😁

i personally love all my undead friends no matter in wich form they come. i do have a special fondness for skeletons cause like you said they always where more magical and i always thought if i was a necromance i would not want to hang around the more rotting minions.

and i do think your general rule of thinking is pretty acurate. zombies are probably pretty easy to got going since most stuff is still there and a skeleton is more like a undead puppet you have on strings wich is more costly but inturn gives you greater controlle and thus gives them greater mobility.

for me a lich always was a skeleton mage cause thats what i knew from the warcraft universe and i always thought it makes sense cause they lern and research to strip themselfs from mortality and by that they strip them self littraly from the meat that is the symbole of that mortality
