Will you stop the tunneling already.
9/10 games I have played today has been nothing but tunnel, tunnel, tunnel, and pain res + pop and one or two lockdown perks
Trying to do any of the tome challenges has been an impossible task. I'm sick of this sweating for 4K's all the time, as if the killer player's life was on the line. Seriously, relax and try to have fun instead.
I just needed to vent some frustration around the BP event, which is the time where the sweat is turned up to 11.

Sorry to hear it been that rough . Since the DS buff i seen far less tunneling. Hopefully your luck change

I haven't had a single tunnelling killer all day, but I did have a Tombstone Myers which is arguably worse 😑 right when I decided to bring BPS too

4ks are fun. Tunneling is also efficient sometimes and worth perusing. Killers have challenges that require 4ks. HOWEVER. Do I understand your frustration? 100% I get tunneled out all the time hahahaa. OTR and DS are my new staples.

Literal throwing, I'm not sure if that's allowed in the rule
Post edited by JocelynAwakens on14 -
Probably not, but why deny someone something they so desperately seek, yet don't need any validation achieving?
Survivors are experiencing massive burnout from this gameplay loop. If BHVR won't fix it, then we will.
14 -
more like why do you do something that literally hurts your team and benefit opposition, but to each their own I guess
14 -
I ask my tome-chasing survivor buddies the same thing. Been a problem I've had to deal with for the past 5 years.
4 -
At least that's something game is meant you to do, not like it makes sense to have such things tho
2 -
I notice that every time I play as Survivor and someone brings in a BPS or any kind of cake the killer amps up the tunnel and camping x10. Really can’t do much about it as it’s been deemed a form of killer strategy and there are no plans to ever remove or change that.

So, after those horrible survivor games, I played a few rounds of killer. - No slowdown/meta perk builds.
1st match: A bit rusty since it has been a while. Got absolutely smoked, but the survivors were cool, and not toxic or anything. Granted, one of them told me that playing against me was a good relaxing session, from having to deal with all the tunnelers, plus he enjoyed versing Dredge.2nd match: Walking Nurse - Ended up against a 4-man SWF with flashlights. Not too fun, but I got 2 of them in the end.
3rd match: Bone Clapper Wraith - Had a good time sneaking up on unsuspecting survivors. One gave up immediately, so I ended up farming points with the other 3 instead. All of us had over 35k points in the end. It is so boring when the games are over before a single gen has even been done.
It isn't the end of the world if you happen to have a bad round as killer, since you do end up getting well compensated with points anyways. It is way more frustrating as survivor, since you risk ending up with so little, it feels like you wasted the hard-earned offering for nothing - Plus survivor tome challenges suck to do at times.
Now, you don't have to play like you were in tournament in order to have fun. Be creative, try other builds, and stop following the meta in every single game. It gets repetitive and boring fast.14 -
I versed a Myers as well. No tombstone, but two of my teammates kept feeding him stalk all the time, so every time he found me, he was at 99%. The worst part is, he was not a good player either, just lucky that my teammates kept feeding him. That was really annoying to go against.
In all of my survivor games, besides one where we got a farming Ghostface, I did not escape.4 -
That's a great mindset.
More people should follow it. Sadly, content creators, the entire comp scene and the mmr system advocate against this.
"I got 1400 wins with quad slowdown blight!!!" - comes to mind.
9 -
2500h of playing this game, I had only 1 match where survivors could finish the last Gen when a teammate die at 4 Gens. So
- I sweat out and the result is 3 Gens remaining with a teammate escape through hatch.
- Or I just tab out to draw and the result is 4 Gens remaining with a teammate escape through hatch.
Point out the part where I throw.
11 -
It’s the part where you tab out.
5 -
For me as Myers main, I would injures 2-3 survivors and stalk them, to save 1 hit on the last healthy survivor. So really its not other survivors fault. Save 99 tier2 to 1 hit a healthy.
0 -
Did I change the match result though?

To play devil’s advocate here I haven’t tunnelled anyone all evening and have been accused of tunnelling and/or camping on multiple occasions.
Are players really being tunnelled or are they just choosing to see it everywhere because it’s easier to blame it than to admit and assess their own poor play.
The one thing I will say toward a lot of the comments is yes survivors in general need a baseline BP bump.
12 -
Well, in my case, I was genuinely being tunneled by a Blight with double speed add-ons. He didn't care at all about the other survivors. He just wanted me out asap. I got mad, DC'd in his face.
That was after facing Huntresses in 4 prior games - Yes, I absolutely hate Huntress, and with a good reason.
When I said 9/10 games of tunneling, I wasn't really lying. Granted, I did not get tunneled in more than a few games, but I had teammates who did, including my friend whom I duo'ed with.
I did not face versus you, but I understand the frustration of being constantly accused of tunneling, despite not doing it.
However, my point is that in 90% of my games today, someone has been tunneled out at 4 or 5 gens, with the killers running the same 4 out of 6 perks (Pain Res + Pop, Deadlock, Dead Man's Switch, Grim Embrace, Nowhere to Hide). It gets repetitive and boring, really fast.4 -
If you're playing for Tomb challenges why are you getting annoyed at not winning? You want to get wins AND go for Tomb challenges at the same time? If you want to do well and win consistently you shouldnt be doing any tomb challenges. Put on an exhaustion, anti tunnel (DS or OTR) or maybe in your case even both and maybe a Bond? Kindred? You can't expect to win every game if you're doing challenges and in a full solo team. Come on man
3 -
You realize there are multiple tome challenges that require you to "win" (escape), right? Also OP didn't even say they're annoyed at not winning. Where did you get that?
6 -
I was actually not annoyed with not winning, but being stuck on tome challenges due to being tunneled out before having the chance to do them. I don't really care whether I win or lose.
The point is that tunneling as a strategy is too easy, without any real form of counterplay. You can only get this far versus a double speed add-on Blight for instance, even with DS and exhaustion perks. And being stuck in an endless chase with the killer doesn't solve the problem of getting the challenges done, right?
5 -
Tunneling will always be a thing until they change the core game design, which basically causes it. All those band-aids with perks will not work, since you still win with tunneling even if you eat all of their endurances and DS's, especially on mobile killers. And they won't change the core game design, since it's too much effort and they can't sell the new game design in the cosmetics store. So the only thing you can do is to just stop playing soloQ survivor, or just farm Archive and go next (while avoiding challenges where you have to escape).

Oh no, the killer is trying to get their objective done! They are called "Killer", not "Let-Aliver" for a reason. Also, if that is the Killer player's definition of having fun and a good time, who am I to judge?
In situations like these I try to buy as much time as I can for my team, if I fail at a daily or a challenge there's always another game after to get it done.10 -
funny cause i hardly get tunelled. I have been using DS ever since it was in the shrine 2 weeks ago and only got to use it 4 times. That in like 100+ games .
5 -
Well just because you have a challenge selected that shouldn't give you an immunity shield vs the Killer doing his objective (Killing). That's DBD, the Killer has to Kill. Survivors have to Survive. Challenges are a side objective you can select, but if you don't like the main gameplay then that's a different problem.
3 -
Well it's a Tomb >challenge< right? You just selecting the challenge shouldn't give you a free win? The Killer's objective is to KILL. You have to SURVIVE as a SURVIVOR. That's just the core gameplay we are talking about now. The Killer Kills, the Survivor has to Survive. No challenge should give you immunity or force the opponent to play a certain way you want.
3 -
In short: You need to make killers regret tunneling. What i read here is the opposite, which leads into even more tunneling.
0 -
bummer no but why DC it doesn’t punish the killer player it only punishes yourself and your team mates. It’s like seeking revenge by just punching yourself in the face.
As for other players being tunnelled and the frequency of tunnelling. Well if chased yourself you can say hey I was tunnelled.
when I comes to team mates well that can be a little greyer. Most times if I do hook a survivor again off hook it’s because a scenario organically arises giving me the chance to do so.I.e. - Their rescuer sprints off and they run into my face. I fail to find another survivor and happen across the same one healing in a weak position. You can’t blame a killer for taking advantage of that. So not all “tunnelling” is the implied malicious targeting of a player that people like to make it out as.
The killer isn’t expecting their opponents to stop doing gens for a bit so they can have a breather so why should a survivor player expect the killer to pause their objective. It’s a real double standard on what’s permissible in game.
A lot of players claim unfair tunnelling in those scenarios and not having a front row seat to it as another survivor you only have their subjective take on what happened. I see this a lot from streamers who like to claim tunnelling in any scenario and always frame it maliciously as the killer out to ruin their fun.Now as for frequency we as humans have a tendency to only note the outcomes we are looking for. It’s a form of survivorship bias where you only measure one respective result and ignore the others. The Murphy’s law effect, “why does this always happen to me” well because we really only focus on it and remember it when it happens. So we gloss over when it doesn’t and its very easy to create a narrative that it happens all the time.
Sure you can get tunnelled it happens but as a recent user poll showed it’s not happening as often as the narrative around it would like us to believe.
4 -
we’ll never know, you quit before you had a chance to make any difference.
Also if you simply quit a game when facing something about legitimate play that you don’t like, then you really shouldn’t play.
7 -
Well. Killers are probobly salty since BH nerfed ANT-TUNNEL PERKS! so expect more of this in the future.
0 -
Typically unless a teammate gives up or your team is playing extremely bad, you should only have 3 gens left after the first person dies at most, even if they’re hard tunneling. With many times at 2. I don’t give up in those scenarios because you’re rewarding that behavior and 3 gens left with 3 survivors is very winnable, especially if it’s only 2. Of course that requires the team to be good, but playing bad loses games, that’s life.
I would say I see tunneling in sub 20% of games and that’s being very generous. I think the reason people report such high levels of tunneling is because they consider many, many things “tunneling” that aren’t. It’s usually just them or their teammates making a mistake, the killer capitalizing on said mistake, and then it’s easier to scream tunneling than take responsibility.
4 -
Once again, you just made a strawman. NOBODY said anything about free wins. Being annoyed by something that makes the challenge too difficult doesn't necessarily mean that you want no challenge at all. Why do so many people pretend that middle-ground doesn't exist?
4 -
I still fail to see how someone having a challenge selected should force the opponent to play a certain way just to make completing the challenge easier. Seems like OP has a problem with the core gameplay instead of the actual challenges part.
4 -
Its not. Yet, happens all the time. If you want to record someone doing so, action might be taken. Good luck in the fog.

Why everybody try to tell others how they have to play the game?
Also…
pain res + pop and one or two lockdown perks
Then maybe tell it to the devs. Everybody saw that will happens when they killed every slowdown perk, meanwhile gens aren't generally slower. People can bring 4 bnp and also put 1 into every single gen too. So tell me what do you expect from the killers?
And to be honest… People nowdays use that word for everything, and it is always the killer's fault. I see many time somebody unhook, and then left the other person alone. Who will I chase? The uninjured who I don't know where, or the injured who I see? Also many times people start to heal under the hook while I am not in a chase. Why wouldn't I go back if i know that there will be at least 2 person there? And even the game punishes you in your emblems if survivor manage to heal.
And about the challanges… What? They are called "challange". People should fight for it. Most of them already a joke ("drop down 1 pallet"). But honestly I not even often play survivor, and always was able to do all the survivor challanges. Maybe it takes more time, but why do you expect from the killer that they have to help you with your challanges?
9 -
I’m a killer main and the only time I tunnel is
- Like 1 gen left and I have only got 3 hooks
- They are annoying (constant sabo/blind plays and tbagging)
- Snitching out their team
- or I see them closer then the person I’m chasing (decently closer like 10 feet)
0 -
I barely get tunneled but bring ds just in case. granted I'm pretty sure im a mid-low mmr survivor or something considering how rarely I see actual meta perks.
0 -
I used to despise seeing tunneling all over the forums. But now its just a novelty.
To anyone who is frustrated by it, stop making these posts plz. If the killer wants to tunnel, then they will. If the killer needs to tunnel, they will.
Neither are against game rules, but rather makes it a bad experience for other players. Killers know this. Some choose to discard this emotion to not be hindered by decency. I'd also urge you to not try and talk to them about it. They will always have the cover of 'Its legitimate playstyle', or 'I want to win, its fun.' Just let it go. You won't win or convince them. Players who can't be reasoned with simply can't be reasoned with. Just go next. Thanks :)
6 -
9/10 games, huh? Sounds a bit exaggerated to be honest.
To answer your question: No. Tunneling is a strategy as old as the game itself and it will always be a thing.
7 -
If people were gonna stop tunneling, they would've done it when Eruption got buffed.
6 -
I never quite understand why tunneling is so disliked. If you encounter four monsters that heal each other, and you're trying to beat them, attacking them equally one by one will never lead to victory. As long as there are people teabagging at the hatch after winning, I don't think killers will stop tunneling and slugging for the 4K.
8 -
You can try looking at this from the survivor's point of view. You know, DbD is not a JRPG where you encounter a party of NPCs. Those are too living people behind the screen, and it's annoying to be tunneled out at the start of the game, and also losing just because your teammate was tunneled out at the start.
4 -
Losing and getting relentlessy tbagged at because you were playing a weak killer / weak perks and had no chance from the start is also not fun. But survivors are just doing their objective so you cant blame them, right? So why are killers getting blamed for doing their objective (killing people). Double standards.
10 -
Nothing wrong with a bit of venting, sure. But theres no reason to make yourself so angry because your opponent is doing their objective and youre doing side objectives (tomb challenges), putting yourself at a disadvantage. You shouldnt expect to have a good game when putting yourself at a disadvantage. No reason to blame your opponent also, that just seems controlling.
3 -
Double standard is BHVR removing all the cheap ez win strategies for survivors, like permanent sabo and 99 gens, but leaving the cheapest ez win strategy for killer, i.e. tunneling. Nothing wrong in desperately trying to win even at expense of other players, even if you know it's annoying for the other side, after all don't blame the players - blame the game, and this is exactly what I do.
8 -
Fun is subjective and I love getting tunneled tbh. I usually run heavy chase builds and nothing feels better than kiting the Killer all game ending up being the main reason he lost that game.
You know whats an "cheap ez win strategy" in my opinion? Early shift W to god pallets pre-dropping them instantly. No brain usage, just shift+w and spacebar. Great, dropped 15 pallets while the others clamp onto gens like their life is depending on it
4 -
The teabagging doesn't need to even enter the convo. They'd do it regardless.
This is how I see it. As long as there are people teabagging at the hatch after winning, I don't think killers will stop tunneling and slugging for the 4K. -True
As long as people teabag at the gates after winning, I don't think killers will stop tunneling and slugging for the 4K. -True
As long as there are survivors that exist, I don't think killers will stop tunneling and slugging for the 4K. -True
I don't think killers will stop tunneling and slugging for the 4K. -True
Its stated again and again that they do it to 'win' as they can't any other way, apparently. And that is a very sufficient reason. We need to come up with better solutions since BHVR simply won't.
Annnnd…
1 -
You did, 100%, there is extremely high chance you've lowered BP gain of other survivors substantially, probably even hurt their emblems, too
It's crazy to think you aren't harming the game when you literally decided to not participate in normal gameplay, you are acting equally or even worse than those who tunnel
4 -
Yesterday was indeed bad, but the matches I had today was the polar opposite. No one tunneled at all. So I guess it is also a "luck of the draw" when it comes to who you are opposing. Had some excellent chases, escaped some matches, and got sacrificed in others in order to give the team a chance at escaping.
Granted, I still faced Pain Res + Pop in 75% of the games I played.
