Deathslinger nerfed reeling addons should not go through
- Bayshore's Gold Tooth
Increases the Speargun's reeling speed by 5%. (was 9%)
- Snake Oil
Increases the Speargun's reeling speed by 2.5%. (was 5%)
LIVE:
slingers current reeling speed is 2.6 m/s or 65% movement speed.
- when using snake oil (5%) is 2.8 m/s or 70 percent movement speed
- when using bayshores gold tooth (9%) is 2.96 m/s or 74 percent movement speed
- when using both addons (14%) it brings it up to 3.16 m/s or 79 % movement speed
PTB:
in the upcoming changes slinger will reel at 2.76 m/s or 69% movement speed
so snake oil isnt even basekit, its a change of 4%
- when using snake oil (2.5%) is 2.86 m/s or 71.5 percent movement speed
- when using bayshores gold tooth (5%) is 2.96 m/s or 74 percent movement speed
- when using both (7.5%) it brings it to 3.06 m/s or 76.5 percent movement speed
so in the ptb stacking both is slower than live, thus a nerf. it should remain as how it currently is at 5 and 9 .
the 2 addons are ranked low by many slinger mains, so are currently niche, if they are nerfed, they will be borderline useless.

Who even rans both of those Add Ons? In the end, part of the Add Ons was made Basekit and the Add Ons itself were nerfed. This is normal practice for minor Killer Buffs.
I guess BHVR has data which Add Ons were used and I would also guess that using both Add Ons did not happen at all, so it is not really relevant that they are weaker than before when using both. IMO players will take the Basekit-Buffs and use those Add Ons simply less than before (and certainly not both, which I have never seen at all).

this change is like the billy change where they nerf doom engravings. total clueless.

With the exception that Engravings actually saw use. And that they only nerfed the Add Ons because they buffed his Basekit (which did not happen to Billy back then).

that is why what i am trying to say. They're only nerfing add-on's because they buffed deathslinger's base-kit. billy got buffed, then like 6 months after, he got reworked. foreshadowing deathslinger's rework. wonder they'll give him that hook shot ability they talked about in dev stream years ago about shooting harpoons and realing himself to the location, like a reverse wesker dash.

Does it work like that with the movementspeed bonus?
I thought it takes the % of the current speed and not of 100%... So 5% off of 2.6m/s would like 0.13 m/s so making it 2.73 m/s and not 2.8 m/s.
With 2.76 m/s base the 2.5% increase would result in 2.829 m/s. So that is still a buff... Or does the calculation work different on deathslinger than how speed addons work on Blight Billy or haste perks work in general?

When you look into the wiki article about the speed apparently it adds 0.2 m/s and 0.1m/s... Which I don't fully understand how the calculation works... But nonetheless I don't think the addons are a nerf, based on both wiki plus the calculations above, despite me not being sure what is correct...

Just to clear this air up…
his Reeling speed addons DO NOT work at all..
they've been heavily useless since the rework.. it's already was proven not too long ago.. never was fixed..

I mean normally when they buff a killer's basekit they often nerf the associated addons, but in this case I'll agree it was unnecessary. Reeling speed addons already weren't that good (and the basekit buff to reeling speed is also not that significant).

That's not how these addons work.
Old:
- No addon: 2.6 m/s
- Gold Tooth: 2.834 m/s
- Snake Oil: 2.73 m/s
- Both: 2.964 m/s
New:
- No addon: 2.76 m/s
- Gold Tooth: 2.898 m/s
- Snake Oil: 2.829 m/s
- Both: 2.967 m/s
In all cases, you reel slightly faster after the changes regardless of which combination of addons you took. And on top of that, these addons are worthless. Why would you ever take these and not the cigar/keys?
