Freddy's Neglected?

Freddy seems like he's been almost completely neglected by Bhvr despite him being arguably the killer in most need of buffs and changes. Bhvr said they were looking into him as well as other killers awhile ago but there hasn't been any news or updates or even hints of Freddy changing since then. Most people even forgot Freddy Krueger is in dbd because no one uses him anymore, his perks don't really get used often so is no reason for people to buy him or use him. Freddy isn't fun. Freddy isn't strong. Freddy isn't unique. Bhvr needs to work on the killer who actually needs changes instead of changing Blight's addons every update because Freddy deserves better.

Freddy? Who is that? New killer or something? Don't know anyone with that name or kind of power.

All of this is to my understanding, please feel free to correct:

BHVR can't rework killers unless they get approval of the new design from the IP holders, because they're contractually obligated to represent their characters in a way that the IP holder approves of.

Freddy's IP holders are very difficult to work with on the level of Jason's.

This is the same reason we got remake Freddy with no additional skins.

    1. I think most reasonable people agree with you
    2. Nah lets come back for a fourth pass and turn slam speed add-ons into 8/5% turn rate and speed. Maybe nerf placebo? IDK they took the few failures of the first add-on pass to heart and are now set on changing all of them out of spite.

That doesn't seem like the case at least to me, but idk for sure. With Freddy's original power they nerfed him a lot then after awhile just completely reworked him without really trying to make him work. If it was something to do with license holders I don't think his rework would've happened in the first place because his current mechanics aren't very accurate to the character.

He has been for years at this point.

I really hope they follow @GeneralV 's route and revert him to his original state with lots of quality of life and buffs.

Then he would at least be a unique experience to play and play against.

I have played a ton of Freddy and I fully agree. He's still one of my favorite killers in the game, but it's gotten so bad playing him that during matches as him I'll think "I could be playing someone else with an actually useful power right now." So some buffs/changes would be great!

It's almost as if overhauls take time, especially in DBD.

I'm praying he'll be on the roadmap this year, whenever that comes out.

I'm still kinda new to dbd is there a separate roadmap from the anniversary one?

There's a roadmap for general release changes over the year. Perk changes, killer reworks, QoL, just a lot of the big mechanical stuff outside of chapters and events and whatnot. Compared to last year, they've decided to hold off a bit on releasing it if my memory serves right. Hopefully we'll see it in the not too distant future.

The funny thing is, he wasn't really neglected. He got some changes but almost all of them were nerfs. I will never understand why Freddy's dream pallets can't have synergy with niche perks. This at least gave them so kind utility and it was actually fun.

Freddy is in dire need of an update. His power is uninspired and just a weaker version of other killers, his strengths are so few and far in between it's shocking to see that he sometimes does something and he really doesn't feel like Freddy Krueger. @GeneralV is right that Freddy needs a dework. Return to the roots and go from there. It allows for so many interesting gimmicks and a far more creative power than "Clown's puprle bottle on a budget".

Hopefully the dream world will be red like in the movie.
