Really thought I would have seen a meta change

So since some perks got reworked thought I would see maybe Oppression would show up a bit more. I tried it and enjoyed it since it basically does three gens at once and has a short cool down now so I thought hey maybe some folks will try using those other killer perks but nope still just Surge and Pain Res everywhere. Even Dragon's grip a perk that gives some info and an insta down for just a 40 second down. I went a break from the game for about a couple days aka 5 days to see if maybe some players would try a new meta.

I mean maybe because of the gen bug people are using the most reliable gen perks to combat it. Personally i've not been playing at all because of the bug

Yeah just give it a little bit of time. Kinda like OrangeBear said above me, the gen bug might be part of the reason. That said, I've used Oppression a little bit and it's fun for sure! I think people are just nervous about the gen bug, but thankfully with hotfix 1 coming tomorrow, that should help things.

Pop, PainRes, and surge are just reliable and good for every killer. Oppression is decent and can be good on some killers but PainRes, Grim Embrace, Pop are just reliable. I

Darkness Revealed is still bad because the developers buffed in the wrong direction.

Dragon's Grip has some issues that makes it unreliable: It is rather a cooldown of 70sec because 30sec of Gen time and then 40sec of the real cooldown. Survivors simply forget about the generator which results in no value. Not many killers can use this perk due to M1 restrictions and map. Other perks are just better and reliable. It is only a decent perk for some fun.

Overall, this wasn't really a meta change but rather a try to make other perks a little bit better. Iirc, the developers said that they will rework 20 Perks which could result in a meta change - but only if they know how to buff them.

oppression is weak because base regression is weak. buffing it doesn't do anything. dragon grip doesn't need cooldown. it sucks with 0 cooldown. Darkness reveal has no radius. duration never mattered. it is likely they buffed it only aura reading nurse in midwich to be more obnoxious.

as i suspected, Babysitter has no pick-rate, so in the end, i was right that it wasn't good enough for players to run.

i've used it before on demogorgon for portal ambushing and on knight. i don't think oppression is good enough. it will only become good enough when base regression is increased to like 200% than people might use it.

Surge? I'm guessing this is a low MMR thing because I rarely see this perk nowadays.

I would more say no mmr since the game more does constant coin flips when I play survivor.

I mean it was pretty clear looking at the changes that those weren't going to shake up the meta at all, bar Iron Will. I would've been more surprised if they had.

Now obviously every perk doesn't have to be S tier but it at least needs to be somewhat close in value.

So if I stick any of those next to PR, Surge, Deadlock, GI, ect, are they going to give me even remotely close to the same value? No, the answers no. The game is all time efficiency and they need to make their buffs to a level where we see similar time efficiency. They're generally extremely conservative when it comes to balancing chase and info perks to where they rarely compete with just stacking more gen regression or slow down bar some exceptions.

Same for most the survivor ones as well. The time saved from stacking second chance perks or speeding up gens just blows everything else out.

There's no meta shake up because the perks were originally terrible and they were buffed to low/mid tier perks. They are usable now but still much worse than the meta perks.

Oppression is bad for the sole reason it is only effective if your opponents are bad. Also base regression is awful so even that aspect is not valuable. Dragons grip is just a gimmick perk only useful once per survivor if they are able to put two and two together and once against a swf.

I said before and I will said it again. That nerfs to meta perks and decent buffs to before bad perks wont cut it.

Killers will Always run slowdown and the same key perks even if you nerf them again because they either need them or feel like they need them.

It's plenty good agains't console players who have more delay on skill checks and buttons that can't be pressed as quickly as mouse on pc with 120fps. Not skill issue platform issue. Perks like oppression should not be buffed but nerfed. If not I think all skill checks should be made harder on pc.

Hitting Great skill checks on Switch or Playstation Portal is purely reliant on luck lol in my experience..

Suit yourself, I 'been having a blast with Trail of Torment with 30 sec cooldown. Genuinely never had more fun with a killer perk in my life!

Okay random question. Is the playstation portal any good?

Kicking gens just isn't worth it. There's too much to lose from doing so.

i've been loving the trail buff on wesker and blight. Opression is ok but base kicking isn't worth it too much

I mean I use oppression since I like it but I also use Brutal as my personal meta perk since it gets gens and pallets done quickly.

Baseregression isnt the issue there, oppression is good because it regresses gens like Ruin, where it doesnt count on the max 8 gen regressions.

The main issue IMO, is that it doesnt give you info on which gens are affected. I think if that was part of the perk, it would be SO good.

it is the issue. the reason why people pick pain res/jolt is because the flat regression values. For example, Jolt is 8% for 7.2 seconds. in regression time, this is 28.8 seconds. How long would it take for Ruin for example to catch-up to Jolt. if you give ruin double the time to regress gen, 57.6 seconds for default regression to catch-up to 8% of Jolt. For pain res…. it is like worse. pain res is 20% which is 18 seconds. 18 second is 72 second of regression. you would need a gen to regress for like 144 seconds with default regression to match 1 pain res proc. that is like eternity in game time.

Ruin is like better as well because it is automatic where as oppression requires to physical invest time as killer to kick gens. the reward just isn't there. So of course nobody is picking oppression over Jolt/Pain res. they won't even pick it over eruption/pop because those two perk are also superior.

Information wise? well… there is merit to oppression+surveillance as info combo but there is also…. perks like nowhere to hide and BBQ that give way more reliable information on average. In summary, Oppression isn't good enough stand-alone slowdown perk and surveillance doesn't match up to more reliable info perks.

the reason why i used on demogorgon was because they nerfed lepros lichen where you don't get information globally but demogorgon has to keep his portals closed because survivor can cleanse portals if they're open. So i was using as info perk to get old Lepros Lichen Effect.

On knight, i was using this perk because he can kick gens from far away with 0 cooldown. Now his ability has cooldown so kicking gens far away with knight is bad. i only used surveillance by itself, never used oppression with knight even though knight has potencial to use it if he equips surveillance. Now I run Hex:face the darkness+Undying with Knight. I used screams/aura as info instead.

Oppression makes sense only with Surveillance, but it's not good enough slowdown alone, so you just need something with it.

Surge can definitely work for M1 killers.

It's unlucky Eruption and Surveillance doesn't really have a good synergy....
