Kill rates will need to be lowered if 2v8 becomes permanent
The reason is queue times. The main reason the kill rate was ever increased to 60% from 50% is to help reduce queue times for survivors. But why was there ever a killer shortage in the first place? Not because survivor is more fun, but because survivor was the only way to play with friends. With 2v8 killers can play with friends for the first time ever, and the result is massive queues for the role. The 400% bp bonus doesn't help. I hope everyone understands that if 2v8 becomes permanent the ONLY way to reduce queues for killer is to lower the kill rate back to 50%.

Most people have a very bad taste in their mouth surrounding the survivor mode. Something should happen to drastically shake up how to play survivor instead of only being able to run 10 meters with no counterplay against two killers tag teaming.

No, not on my tv. In this mode, myself and another random killer generally get 0-3 kills as a rule. Hillbilly is the only chance one has as killer. Nurse is good but even she can't traverse the distances required. Not complaining at all. I love the mode and i'm having a blast but as long as survivors know how to do gens, they will almost always escape. The size of the maps is in their favor.
That said, this is a very well thought out mode and they have done an excellent job with this. Most fun i have had in a long time.

i don't think that is reason why queue times are bad. see, nothing changed for survivor in 2vs8. if anything, survivor lost perk variety in 8 player mode because… well it is beta version of the mode.
killer on other hand did lose perk variety but they also gained something completely new. a extra player on their team. so it is obvious that people are trying new stuff… on killer role.

The queue times for killer is massive because being able to play co-op killer is the most interesting feature of the 2v8 mode.
In terms of how it feels on survivor, I have a much higher escape rate in solo queue 2v8 than in solo queue 1v4. 2v8 honestly reduces a lot of pain points survivor has in my opinion and I would gladly play it more if I could pip from playing it.

Exactly. Also no duplicate killers, and certain killers are more popular. So if there are 1,000 Huntress’s queued up that means there are a thousand players who can’t match with each other.
If every single killer tried to queue up as Huntress then you would never get a match ever since they can’t have duplicates.
I bet if they released all 30+ killers the queue time would go down a bit probably.

Nope, the reason why they aimed for slightly higher kill rate is simply because survivors have 4x higher chance of throwing than killers, basically 50/50 means extremely survivor sided game
pretty sure it would wore off fast enough as time passes anyway

i don't think killer is exactly issue. it is lack of survivor players…. as noted by the massive 400% bloodpoint? this suffering from too much success. I mean that is good right? it means that it might permanent mode. needs more killer and… well more refine but yeah.

It can't possibly be people wanting to try to play killer with a friend or another random killer, especially after 8 years of killer being a solo thing.
That DEFINITELY won't effect queue times.

They shoulda done the que up like Killer Klowns done theirs. Make queuing up randomized. 2 randomly picked "survivors" end up being killer instead.
Because at this current moment, everyone wants to try the killer side.

That doesn't matter. 2 killers can end a chase against a full health survivor in under 10 seconds and since there is no downtime where they need to hook their down, they can immediately repeat that.

This mode has zero chance of becoming permanent imo, separating 8 survivors per match from the main game queues would be a disaster for the game long term.

My point is that if 2v8 becomes permanent the days of catering to killers are over. BHVR will want to make survivor as appealing as possible to alleviate the long killer queue, and that means lowering the kill rate back to 50%.

There is no chance that 2v8 becomes permanent. There isn't enough survivors that are willing/wanting to queue into 2v8, and would damage 1v4 normal game mode.

we don’t even know what killrate they are aiming to get in 2v8. And we don’t know how it does currently play out - and no, your personal experience or the one from your favourite streamer is probably not reflecting the statistics well.
And as the other commenter said, your statement was just wrong in the op about them increasing the killrste from 50 to 60. why would you make something like that up?

I've been playing this mode a lot swapping roles each match (I've tried all killers) and while I had fun on both, I must say killer is the one who shines by a mile.
Survivor role is quite bland and they need to make it feel fresh, right now (as someone in another post said) doesn't matter if there are 8 survivors or 800, feels the same. I wish they removed generators and made a brand new objective or reworked them entirely to be more fun because the game itself is the same without perks variety (after all, unlike killers, survivors are just skins)
Also, why medic doesn't have "we'll make it" healing speed? Feels so useless.
Im not gonna lie, I went back to 1v4 for survivor. Bhvr should give survivor iridescent shards 😏 (jk)

lowering kill rates does not reduce the will of people who want to play unique experience that is only active for two weeks
objectively speaking survivors got far more stronger aspects than killers compared to 1v4, only real "advantage" killers got here is literally JUST second teammates, all the powers are barely substituting perks and addons
Meanwhile survivors getting innate tunneling immunity, sprintburst with radius and extremely short cooldown, actually LESS generators to do for each survivors, countless amount of pallets, selfcare and unbreakable on death hook, basically a wallhack that can persist for like 80% of the game, the amount of ridiculous stuff survivors got is insane

This mode is objectively survivor sided if both sides actually know what they're doing, but playing killer here is way more fun and the lack of matchmaking does a good job of making the mode very chaotic and kinda "balanced".

That defeats the purpose of this game mode. Playing killer with a random person might be fun for a game or two. But after that it just gets dull. I want to play this role with a friend, not a random person, that will behave like my solo queue team mates.
What BHVR need to figure out is how to innovate the survivor role too in this game mode. Playing in a 8 people SWF would be pretty fun but most of us won't be able to set that up. Other than that, the survivor role is largely the same as before. Only with less focus on the chase.
You do realise, that with a lot more killers in the 2v8 queue, there will be less killers in the normal 1v4 queue, right? So the 1v4 queue would be pretty short for killers. By that logic, BHVR would need to cater even more to killers. After all, secondary game modes aren't used for statistics because the goal isn't to balance them anyway.

There are the most people playing now in years because of this new game mode, it would be insane from a business perspective if they don't add 2v8 as a permanent mode after this.

Yes you agree with my point that 2v8 is more fun for survivors as well than regular 1v4. This means 2v8 will siphon survivors from 1v4, making the killer queues worse in 1v4. 1v4 now has to compete with 2v8 for survivor players, and the only way to make 1v4 more appealing for survivors is to lower the kill rate in that mode. I'm not saying the kill rate should be lowered in 2v8, I'm talking about 1v4.

Don't worry, people will soon get tired of this 2v8 mode because of poor balance and limited selection of killers with only 3 of them being somewhat viable.
This mode will probably return back at some point, hopefully with more killers and better balance. For now, enjoy it while you can since you won't be getting that many games as killer anyway and those that you get will be over in 4 or 5 minutes.

I think they missed a trick here.
While killers get a bonus skill when they 'team up', a survivor who is doubled-teamed by both killers is done for.
Instead of an unlockable skill when on death hook (or maybe as well as) there should be a situational chase skill that activates when chase is activated by both killers at the same time.
Escapist: Activates Lithe and Quick and Quiet effects for 30 seconds
Guide: Gains Stake Out tokens that can apply to other survivors on the same gen
Medic: Charges a We'll Make It effect and grants an Inner Healing token
Scout: Procs Distortion effects for 30 seconds

If killer queues are this long with only 5 OG killers available, just imagine what will happen if they re-release the mode with all killers available.

I actually jumped out of my skin and burst out laughing when I was juicing a Wraith, and Trapper blindsided me out of nowhere...
I took it as a point of personal pride that it took 2 killers to down me and bought significant time for the 7 other people of my team.
That's always my mindset playing survivor. I never expect to run a killer for realistically more than 45s, any time I buy over that I consider a job well done.
If I was consistently able to loop the killer for 3 minutes or more, I'd get bored fast cause it makes the killer no longer feel like a threat.
But hey, that's just one opinion 😁

Well, they won't be able fix queue times. At best, they can add few bots to fill up slots so games don't take so long to make.
To be honest, I'd rework this entire mode into a hide and seek type game instead. Slap a timer, add few items and give survivors some objectives to do other than gens and you have a less stressful and more fun mode for everyone.

There is no "again." The stated goal was always around 60%.
Furthermore, you're using killrates/goals of a 1v4 mode vs a 2v8 mode with a completely different ruleset. Everything is different there.

If you don't want the game to be more fun for survivors, then the queues won't improve. Actually the killers queues are about to get much, much longer when they release more killers in the 2v8 mode.

I mean I would love it to be a permanent game mode mainly for custom where your friends can play any killer with a friend is a great concept also if it does get add to the main roster the game won't go stall

I had a similar feat against a Huntress and Billy. The Billy was using a legacy skin too, so he was cracked. I looped Huntress at shack for a solid minute before Billy had to try and help, and even then it lasted another 30 seconds when I ran to swap loops. Bought the other 5-7 enough time to do a few gens, depending on what Billy was doing prior.Killer doesn't need broad nerfs to killrates. Survivors need to step up and learn the nuances of 2v8. It took me awhile to realize killers had aura reading post-gen pop and once I learned that, it made it a million times easier to pre-run every time a gen popped or was kicked.
