DC penalties don't make sense and a reconnect button should be added.
I think the DC penalties do more harm than good right now, sure it discourages people from disconnecting but that just makes those people run at the killer and die first hook anyway. The people that DC penalties really affect are those that disconnect because of a technical issue, for example I've been having an issue with all of my unreal engine games randomly crashing and it's something that I have not been able to fix but each time that happens I boot the game back up and have to watch my friends screen share as my bot is playing instead. In any other game this isn't an issue because I am able to easily reconnect and suffer no penalties.
Removing DC penalties would also make it so people can play with the bots instead of someone that just goes and kills themselves on hook, even if the bots aren't the best I would rather play with 2 bots that do gens than be stuck in a duo at 5 gens remaining and either camp for hatch or have a 1v1 for 5 minutes just to die and go next.
When it comes to killer I do think the penalties make more sense however I feel like a reconnect button could still be implemented if for example the killer was taken over by a bot for 1-2 minutes after disconnecting and if in that time the person doesn't reconnect the game is terminated.
I know I am in the minority here but it's been really frustrating to suffer penalties for things I don't control and not be able to play my favorite game for up to 24 hours lately because of it.

Here we go again…
When the penalties were turned off, everyone would DC at the drop of a hat. Many MANY games had atleast 1 person DC within the first minute or two. While you can't force people to play, you can atleast make it hard for those types to bail. That's also not getting into how bots don't really replace people or how people should be trying to make sure they have working equipment to play without issue.
We'd support a reconnect button, but that's on the devs to figure out.

They make perfect sense. They work well enough; I wish they were harsher.

^ This…
And I wish they would add a DC rating system. The more you disconnect (DC), the higher your DC rating goes. This should have a cooldown period, similar to the current DC penalties.
When you queue up, the game will first look for players with a DC rating similar to yours. If it can't find any, it'll widen the search outside your DC rating range.
This system is great because if you don't mind DCing, you won't mind playing with others who also DC. On the other hand, people who rarely DC will have fewer disruptions in their matches.
This way, you'll be more likely to play with people who have similar playstyles and habits, making the experience better for everyone.

Up to 24hrs? Man if it's that bad you need to play something else that isn't online until you resolve your connection issues. You know you keep having problems but play anyway and disrupt all the other players in the match? Nah you need to stop.

I like how your post just says survivors should be able to disconnect with impunity, but killers should be forced to stay in the game. I appreciate the honesty. Usually people aren't so illustrative of their biases.
