Are Killers Queues Actually Long Because They're Broken?
The obvious culprit for Killer queues being long recently is because of 2v8, but I've noticed a few things in the time since it started that seem a little strange to me.
- The 400% Bloodpoint incentive is a huge buff. I saw some saying that it still wasn't as much as you could stack during the last event, but for the average (or at least casual) player the 400% is going to look huge either way.
- I am normally a Killer main, but have almost exclusively played Survivor during 2v8 because it made Survivor fun for me. I found another thread full of many people like myself, who have switched from Killer to Survivor because of 2v8's gameplay and not even because of the queues. I have not noticed much of the opposite at all.
- I've had several 2v8 Lobbies where one Killer leaves right away (or I never even saw one join), and it takes some time for a new Killer to pop up. Meanwhile, I've only seen the Survivor side struggle to fill the 8 slots once this whole time.
- I'm pretty sure I ran into the same Killer two matches in a row once. I forgot to check their name on the score screen, but they had a very memorable set of cosmetics.
Now all of this is still relatively circumstantial and a small sample size, obviously, but something just feels off to me about the queues. Maybe the 2v8 patch broke something beyond what players are queuing for.

No, not really. 2v8 is the culprit.
You have to remember that one key aspect for Survivor is to play with friends. So if someone wants to play with a friend, they can only do this as Survivor in the regular mode (IMO this is also the reason why Survivor queues tend to be longer than Killer queues in the evening, because more SWFs play, since people usually have time in the evening).
With 2v8 you could also play Killer with a friend. So if someone just wants to play with a friend, they can also play Killer. But, this removes 2 Survivors from the Pool and adds 2 Killers, which needs to be compensated with 8 Survivors. This is quite a lot.
The 400% incentive was not enough to motivate enough Survivors to play 2v8, but it was enough to move some away from 1v4. Overall, bad for both sides.
If they do future versions, they need to make the Survivor-side more appealing, since they removed a lot of fun things when playing Survivor. Not being able to go for Flashlight-Saves or Pallet-Saves and basically removing any Killer interaction aside from the most basic one (chases) was not really good. Because in the end, this means that Survivors can really only do Gens and the only difference for them is that they have 7 Teammates instead of 3.
So the queues are not broken, 2v8 just killed the queues because the gamemode was not really appealing for one side, but VERY appealing for another side.

Now that you mention it, the team thing explains three of my four experiences.
It explains why the incentive didn't make a difference: People would be playing because they've wanted Killer co-op or because of the novelty of the Killer co-op. No amount of Bloodpoints would stop them from at least playing a few matches that way.
It would also explain why I could have matches where it had trouble finding one Killer: if almost everyone is queuing together, then there are less slots for solo Killers even if there are enough Survivors. In that sense, it's almost more of a team problem than a 2v8 problem specifically. In other words, this would come up in any other mode that had something similar, and it's less because there aren't enough Survivors and more that there are too many teams.

You need 8 survivors and 2 killers thats why queue time is long for killers. Not to mention that nobody wants to play killer as they are weak and gens take 120 seconds to be done

Killers are way more diverse and interesting to play than survivor.
2v8 offered killers to play with a teammate while survivors got dumbed down version of the regular gameplay.
