Tips for Playing Knight at a High Level?

I hadn't played Knight before the rework because I took a break for a long time and opted not to try him until the changes went through since I did not want to get attached to whatever it is he was before the changes. Trying him now, and I'm just confused and frustrated on how to play him correctly. What does he do, and how can I be better at him?

Things I've tried:

  1. Using Jailor/Assassin to pincer attack people
  2. Using Jailor/Assassin to distract/hit someone while I go after another person entirely
  3. Using Jailor to patrol tight generators and hopefully let them regress
  4. Holding my power to use Carnifax break pallets in a chase instead of use it

The problem with the above I found is that #2 and #3 makes me feel like a weaker Twins whose power is constantly held hostage by myself or others (like they would Viktor), dooming me to a life of M1 (which I detest).

The problem with #1 is, especially around tall walls with a window or indoors with windows, I can't tell which side I should be going to. If I guess wrong, they get away, or at the very least, the chase shortens dramatically because I was too close to my guard. If they're in the open, no problem! But then they have so much running distance that unless I double-tap them (can be hard to time without expiring the chase), they get a speed boost and the overall down is standard speed meaning gens go by.

The problem with #4 is for whatever reason, I cannot break pallets if I'm too close, so I have to pray they drop them or else give them another loop and try again. If I'm successful, I break a pallet like I have a superior Brutal Strength, but at the cost of not being able to use my power for any macro plays, and still reverting back to an M1 killer for 10 seconds.

Are there any tricks or tips outside of the above that can improve the Knight experience, or is what I described the core of it and I'm likely just not doing something correctly? I like the macro game-play concept of juggling multiple survivors, but it feels like I'm neutering myself by utilizing it which is a bit disheartening.

I hate to be that guy but don't play knight at the highest level, any survivor thats good will make the guards effectively useless. As using the ai against them is easy af. Against good player knight is just a killer that at best can waste time.

However seeing that you are more than likely playing pubs, just use slowdown perks, the average pub warrior will even die to trapper on springwood so at that point even meme killers like legion or freddy can be a menace to someone who for example doesn't know what a checkspot is.

Step 1. Pick a different killer

Normally I get a chuckle out of these kinds of responses thinking they're a playful joke of sorts, but given its the only response, my own experience with the Knight so far, and my inability to comprehend how Knight is anything but a worse iteration of the Twins has me believing it.

I guess I'll just take a break from Knight for a bit.
    Thanks all lol
