Do you struggle tracking survivors with Bat?

I am actually pretty good Spirit player, and I have equipment for it.

But for some reason using Bat in chase is near impossible and usually cost me time instead of gaining.

That loud high pitch noice definitely doesn't help, but I think 3rd POV might be an issue too for this.

Overall for Dracula, Vampire is good enough.

Wolf is decent only because of hug tech, if that gets removed, then it is going to be bad.

I mostly enjoy playing him, but there are definitely some annoying aspects.

Yea, it's really hard to track properly mainly because the bats make so much noise themselves. They're also not the greatest traversal tool either because survivors have to actively be making scratch marks or doing gens. It's actually easier for them to hide, especially if they have a perk to hide scratch marks since you'd have to exit bat form to see them.

I usually use bat, immediately teleport in direction I want to go, then transform to wolf, then Vampire for most loops.

I would love to use Bat more for chase to gain distance after first hit etc, but it's just not possible right now for me.

I'm bad Spirit, so maybe i'm not the best example, but yeah, I struggle. I use Bat only for mobility and very rare for chasing injured survivor without IW. Also agree with your points.

Kinda sad you can't track even survivors without IW properly.... (Not personal attack, bat issue)

no? Bat form is so loud its a major skill issue not to see them coming

Understandable, why are you not sleeping? :D

Are you a vampire? You shouldn't roleplay the chapter so much.

So just an information for those who are interested.

I got an idea this could be fixed with equalizer settings and from my testing it can be.

Bat's noice is very high pitched, way higher than normal sounds in DBD, so if you reduce everything above 5 kHz it is going to affect the bat sound a lot. I have tried it today and it was so much better.

So if you like Dark Lord and want to use Bat for chase, this might help you with it.

This should definitely be changed, so it's not terrible for console with nothing to do about it.

But at least some people will be willing to do it on PC.

yes idk why it's so loud.

I think 3rd POV might be an issue too for this.

apparently fov changes mess with spirit's audio tracking so i'd imagine 3rd person pov also does.

Yes the bats are waaaaayy too loud, survivors might as well have iron will unless they are a naturally loud survivor to begin with.

Probably intended. Bats are meant for map traversal above all else.

    Kinda sad and very annoying...

I would love to play mostly animal forms, but it's simply not viable now.

Yeah i can't hear much when using the bat form. The sounds are way too loud for the killer. So i only use the bat form for traveling. They really should lower the bat sounds at least for the killer.

Yeah, I couldn't care less for huge lullaby to inform everyone about it, but this actually hinders the gameplay.

PC can mostly fix it, at least those willing, but consoles are super screwed.

Yeah i might have to mess with my Sonar settings from steelseries to see if i can get it better. Its also so high pitched it kinda hurts my ears. I main spirit so keeping my headset on 100 im used to but damn these bat noises makes me crazy and i really do otherwise enjoy playing Daddy Dracula.

Luckily because of how high it is, you can reduce it without messing with other sounds much.

These are mine atm. As you see Sonar has a nice preset made for dead by daylight alone which ive been using. I can hear breathing sounds and small things really well.

    Ok, that's actually really cool.

I was thinking about new headphones, which one do you use?

I have steelseries Arctis nova 7P. wireless headphones. I've always loved steelserie headphones, and their program is simple and easy to use.

Yeah, I don't use bat form basically at all unless I have a specific area I know I need to get to - and fast. Basically covering generators, exit gates, or cutting off escapes/windows.

I'm in the camp that thinks the utilization of equalizer and reshade is cheating so I won't be using that, but I also think the utility of bat form is good enough since the other forms meet my needs so it doesn't matter that much. I use wolf form pretty much all game, while switching to Vampire for loops, and bat only in the above niche scenarios.

If anyone's curious about how to make wolf work, I recommend trying the following:

With the common add-on to increase scent orb detection by 100%, paired with the -4 terror radius + Monitor and Abuse, you become a 20m terror radius low-standing dark wolf with information where anyone in roughly ~32m of your position is. You can forgo information perks, reduce the importance of terror radius reduction perks, and focus on utility or gen blocking/regression, since the rest is built into the kit already. Just be aware that (I believe) survivors do not leave scent orbs if they are walking or crouched, which is why low terror radius is helpful here so you can catch them off-guard more.

Alternatively you could do a scent orb add-on build. Although scent orbs bring your movement speed up to 4.8m/s, its duration is only 2.5s with a 6s spawn time. That means, on average in a chase, at base, wolf form goes 4.68m/s. With +50% scent orb duration + 17% reduced spawn time, you can raise average chase speeds to 4.75m/s. Helps for chasing in general and catching people off-guard on loops with low line of sight.

EDIT: Removed the last paragraph since I think it's inaccurate in hindsight, and I don't like basing on personal estimates.

Spirit is one of my mains and I don't have much issues when it comes to track survivors - unless they have IW. But Dracula's Batform is something different due to the high pitch noices. The developers are rather bad when it comes to sounds (Survivors have different audios, screams are awfully loud for no reasons, Plague's whispering is still very annoying, Dredge had a build-in 20meter breathing sound for two years, Trapper still has a loud breathing sound to name a few examples). I really don't know why the developers gave the killer player these loud noices because it does not give you any info (e.g. you can say that Plague has the whispering as an audio info to let the player know what you still have your power up) but for Bat it doesn't make any sense. It is just annyoing and disorientiering. The 3rd POV is alright and helpful in my opinion. I really hope the developers will fix this.

i don't have trouble tracking. you hear the footsteps of survivors. it is just that it takes too long to come close to the survivor. by time you transform into vampire or wolf, survivor is at a loop.

Why didn't they give bats wraith's windstorm add-on. instead we have these crap traveller items with +8 range and 25% teleport speed. why not just put these tp add-on base-kit and give us 10% and 5% haste in bat form like wraith windstorm.

Also those grey add-on that reduce penalty for transform should also be base-kit…. i don't know why there are mechanics that punish for changing forms. isn't that entire point of the killer? to shapeshift? Just BVHR doing BVHR things.

You should be able to see people in bat form. Straight up. It's not a lethal ability. Either that or the teleport should be map wide, with less of a cooldown so you can at least use it for better mobility.

There's no reason at all for survivors to be invisible while you're bats. You can see the map, for crying out loud. It's a "lore trumps common sense" kind of mechanic that I expect to be patched out soon.

Exactly. The bats have not once led to me getting a hit on someone, because they can react with how long it takes to change forms and act.

they did say that every 2-3 months, they will sometimes revisit a newly released killer. I imagine that Dracula will get revisited in November.

I don't have issues tracking with bat but I feel it shouldn't be easy with how diverse Dracula's kit is. I usually use it to quickly teleport and cut people off in chase or return to key landmarks on the map. Outside of that I find it to not be worth it to stay in bat form for prolonged periods. At most I think when I go in Bat form I'm only in it for 10 seconds tops. Being able to see survivors also wouldn't change my view on this - I need to be able to quickly attack survivors and the Bat form is purely for mobility and occasional surprise attacks if line of sight grants it.

I'd like to use it more, but that thing wobbles more than carrying a survivor equiped with Boil Over. You waste an immense amount of time trying to get through a simple door. In its current state it's nothing more than a teleportation tool, which is dependent on an addon to have a decent range.

Bat has the same issue as Dredge had, the squeaking is way way to loud to hear Survivors over. It's also got the issue of being a bit wobbly and frustrating in indoor maps, you may as well never use it in indoor maps. Just fix a bit of that.

I generally keep to bat form only for the teleport aspect. That being said my only problem with bat form is the momentum on it is a bit funny and I find myself slipping and bumping into things when I shouldn't.

Yeah, I have had issue with this too. It is hell to use on RPD, or Leri's.
