What's the official stance on the sliding Dog?
I've had this debate go on since Dracula released, so I'll put it plainly: What is the official stance on Dracula Pounce (via Wolf form) being able to replicate Blight's old "Hug Tech" that allows him to slide off structures he'd typically bump into?
I'm pretty sure it's "a bug that will be removed," much like Blight, but I want an official point of reference to close the debate, please.

Welp it's been answered, not in this thread but on reddit by the devs: it's getting removed.
I expected this, but now there's 0 defense to it. I won't judge you if you use it while it's still here, but don't get used to it.

Imo if its able to produce the same results then its needed, that wolf form is horrible otherwise.

It's another stupid bug that people will exploit and call it "tech" to justify their wins exploiting that.

It's an exploit that needs to go, people can try and defend it all they want. We don't need another hug teching killer.

The Wolf tech is an exploit like the old Blight Tech. Even though it gives the killer a much higher skill ceiling and is fun to use, it is still not indeeded. It's better to remove it and then buff the wolf form in a good and intended way.
the question is when the developers will fix this because they needed five years to remove this exploit from Blight while Wesker still has his exploit in the game. Either the developers will fix it within the next two patches or in years.

Just to be clear, I do agree with you. But some people are pulling the "it's the 3rd time, it has to be intended" card. I just thought this would be a quick and easy way to have an official indisputable answer.

What I want to know is why does looking down allow the wolf to do this. Blight had this exact same thing as well, heck even Leatherfaces hitbox changes while looking down slightly (or it least he did). What is it about the killer's FOV facing down that causes hitboxes to change?

it’s me fine with them just incorporating it without having to look down, Chucky gets to hug tech for free so why can’t the wolf.

Even with the hug tech it's most of the horrible especially because you can hear the charging for quite a long time before it's happening. I played against one doing that yesterday, while it increased his chance to hit me it still wasn't hard to dodge at all xD

I mean they recently made an exploitable bug used against the Knight a feature, so they can keep the Wolf Hug tech.

It's a bug but admittedly Wolf form is pretty weak in most cases and I only use it when everything else is on CD.
Would prefer it get patched tbh. It's not gamebreaking in any way but I'd rather Dracula be balanced around a consistent toolset rather than a bug being factored into how strong they are.

Well… if we go by this "it's the third time" card the game would be literally unplayable because tons of bugs keep coming back from time to time like the floating survs when Wesker grabs them.

I doubt the Doge Tech will be removed. I think the only reason BHVR committed to removing Blight's Hug Tech was because they said that they would, and Blight needed a reasonable nerf. Duckula isn't strong enough to need that sort of nerf. I mean, Whiskers still has his.

Every tech in this game is a damn bug being exploited. You are using something that's not intended to get an advantage, which is not different than cheating.
There are even techs that are not bugs, but are an exploit of some failure like CJ Tech which is literally only possible because killers can't map scenario interactions in one button and surv/gens interactions to another like survs can.
"But techs are skill expression and bla, bla, bla".

I mean I'm kind of generally indifferent to Hug Tech at this point. I was fine with it being in the game, and I was able to counter it well, but I won't lose sleep over it being gone.
CJ techs are fine too, they're very easy to counter. Yes, even locker CJs.
People finding different, unexpected interactions is just a thing that happens in video games. In a lot of cases it opens up more dynamic gameplay.
If you want to go far back, looping wasn't actually the original intended gameplay style. It was invented. It was a "tech", some people considered it an exploit. You were meant to break chase and hide as soon as possible.
Just because something isn't necessarily intended from the get go doesn't automatically make it a bad thing.

Combos in Street Fighter II were also a bug that became a feature.

I think people are too caught up in the potential ethics of this video game bug. Wolf Hug Tech is the same as all the other unintended techs in the game imo; If the devs remove it, that's fine, it's not like it was meant to be there in the first place. If the devs don't remove, then it's just sorta part of the killers kit. I've been downed a lot by Demogorgons surprising me with Slide tech Shreds, but I wouldn't say they're exploiting anything.

I still find it so odd that Oni's 1 frame 180 flick hasn't been patched out yet but wolf hug seemingly is in such a short amount of time.

Killers that recently have been released are higher on the queue for follow up changes. We have seen this for nearly every Killer getting small tweaks to tune them up or down shortly after release, after the playerbase can show how 'counterable' or 'oppressive' Killers are. This isn't magic or surprising, although I do think Oni's bugged flick should be fixed as well.

Human form is strong anti-loop
Doggo is info/speed (and speed is only being added due to the cognitive dissonance players have when thinking about animals and how they're typically faster than your average human). To be frank I don't know why they added a pounce except for thematic reasons the devs felt would cause more cognitive dissonance (or they added it because of their own cognitive dissonance/bias). They should keep the doggo pounce though.
Bat is mobility. I don't know why Doggo has Killer instinct and not Bat. (srsly, why make a hardware disadvantage again like they did with spirit, give KI in a small radius so you don't have to be reliant on headphones, and also goes with the audio but not visual theme).
Hug tech for doggo is not intended, nor should it be kept, as human form is the anti-loop.1 -
By looking up as far as possible and flicking at the same time as the slam. My guess as to why it works is a combination of 1) the slam forcing your camera down and 2) the absolute input of the mouse allowing you to somehow override the angle restriction of the slam if you look up (because of point 1 jank?). And the reason why it doesn't work on controller is because of the lack of absolute input; you need to hard flick in those first few frames to make it work. Similar reasoning as to why Blight's J-flick existed back in the day.

I'unno about the slam camera being a part of it then. All I know is that if they can patch Chucky, they can patch Oni. Something like Wesker's hug tech seems excessively hard to patch out though given how absurdly jank the power is in general.
