Why is distortion getting nerfed yet Lightborn isn't?
If Distortion is getting nerfed, a perk that has CHARGES mainly because it can stop all aura reading, then why is lightborn that has NO charges can permanently prevent flashlights, firecrackers and blast mine? Pretty sure it affects the Haddie perk that requires the killer to be blinded in order to afflict blindness to the killer.
What is this double standard? This is the exact same situation with Weave + Franklin, permanent aura reading yet Object of Obsession was nerfed because of that? A combo that is not counterable in solo queue due to lack of communications should hvae been a priority, you have to go next because of this combo, now that distortion has been nerfed and aura readings were buffed, solo queue is going to be entirely unplayable. You are also pushing casual players away by doing this.
How come every reasoning doesn't apply to killers? Why are specific playstyles being forced upon players? You cannot keep lightborn in its state when you give that reasoning for the distortion nerf. I don't use flashlights, I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy. I haven't played this game for nearly a month for a reason, and that is because solo queue is unplayable but I have checked the updates, and I am for sure not going to reinstall the game.
I want to know why solo players are being punished for playing the game properly yet balancing the game around SWF using third party softwares? Killers complain survivors go next, I've seen them complain more than other survivors complain, as what a killer main says 'my fun is not your priority. Go on every social media, killers trashing survivors for going next, tell me another PVP game where the opponent complains for an EZ win. Giving one side this much power to make the other side miserable is what is going to kill this game.

Distortion countered auras, a perk category, while lighborn counters an item category. Perks are locked in the moment a match starts, so you cant just switch off auras if they have 4 distortion or something. If the killer has lightborn, rip, go get a gen or find a toolbox. you still have 4 perks and only lost a beamer.
The key difference is that distortion, once in play, would completely counter the killer's chosen perks if it happened to face them. While lightborn is better at countering flashlights than distortion is auras, it counters flashlights. For a whole perk slot. Distortion denies entire portions of a build, while lightborn merely counters an optional and situational aspect of survivor. Getting lightborn'd doesnt have a big impact on the match. The killer would have just looked at a wall otherwise, be thankful they wasted a slot.

Not completely: some of the time. Against certain builds that frequently provide aura reading tokens can be drained very quickly, but if not, all this is likely to do is screw over the survivor team because the same survivors are going to keep getting found by the killer. It could be stronger if all four survivors are running it, but it seems fair that four survivor perks can imperfectly counter one killer perk or add-on, or do an even worse job at countering multiple.
The strongest part of Distortion has never been its aura or scratch mark prevention; it's the information you get about the killer's build. I would still happily run it, especially in a SWF, if it just lit up whenever my aura was visible to the killer. I think that would be quite a bit stronger than any version of the perk released thus far despite a complete lack of stealth benefits.
I have no problem with Lightborn either, mind you, but it would be nice to give some sort of indicator that it's in play for flashbangs in particular. Flashbangs are so temperamental that it's easy to assume the game just didn't give you the blind, as there's no gradual feedback that the blind is working like for flashlights. You'd have to make a few attempts to be really confident the killer was running Lightborn, and by the time every solo Q player figures it out, the game is over. Even a couple of prevented blinds can make a huge difference in the outcome of the match.

Because killer mains are fine with removing game mechanics until it's a mechanic that affects them negatively. Every excuse for keeping lightborn as is essentially boils down to: 1) "*sob sob* SWF scapegoat" or 2) "But at least I'm not taking 4 slowdown!!!" Lightborn needs to be changed that doesn't remove blinding from the match if it's equipped.

Just put the flashlight away and do gens.

Why are you even making this comparison? The two things have nothing to do with each other. If you have an issue with distortion being nerfed then you should make the case independent of anything else. If you have an issue with lightborn then make that case independent of anything else. Just because a survivor perk is being nerfed does not mean a killer perk needs to be nerfed in retaliation.

hahahahaha there is never a cry like this They are not the same since the light counters 2 perks and the lanterns and firecrackers are objects, while distortion counters around 18 perks and killer's addon, plus the distortion can be used by all 4 survis. You are going to compare 16 perks of survi against 4 of killer. _. Son of the light is fine as it is and does not deserve change, do you remember what happened to the only useful piece of information that was not auras? exactly they left it useless uw when you only had to get a jake perk to counter it

If they remove Lightborn, first they need to fix it on console so I'm not blinded or have the majority of my screen blocked despite turning away as fast as I can (not while in animation lock, just mid-chase). And survivors getting blinds from out of line of sight should not be a thing. Plus, BHVR needs to fix sounds, which haven't been halfway decent for tracking on Switch since I started playing on it years ago.
As is, Lightborn is necessary, like Unrelenting, to not be miserable on Switch. And a lot of killers who dislike being blinded really dislike being blinded. Your choices may be that you don't get use out of your item/perk because the killer has Lightborn or, if it gets gutted, you don't get use out of your item/perk because the killer goes and stares at a corner and leaves the survivors to play gen-repair sim. One of those options sucks less, but I guess it's up to every individual survivor which option they prefer.
Lightborn is such a rare perk, I mostly only see it used when I'm the one playing killer. PC killers don't seem to need it. Even with three flashlights in the lobby, I rarely see Lightborn (Franklin's is more likely).
And survivors still have other options for saving off the shoulder: pallets, body blocking, sabo, Breakout, Boil Over. Blinds are not the only way.

Neither should be nerfed.

light born completely invalidates anything that's link to blinding including perks it's not just items it also completely nullifies saves link to perks and items that's are link to light it's a unearned immunity at least distortion you could burned trough the stacks you can't with light born if distortion is gonna get change so should light born btw there's perk for one slot that completely melts distortions yet it's getting change so it's really fair that lightborn gets the same treatment

“why are killers running so much gen slowdown?”
11 -
lightborn is fine

Distortion counters 50+ perks, items, and even basekit powers over on Killer side.
Lightborne counters two items and about five perks.
They aren't the same and this comparison is the most ridiculous, disingenuous thing I have EVER seen. Everyone said they want more chase, aura reading facilitates finding people to chase. Don't you also want more fun chase? Then you should also want Killers to find you more, so chase can happen more. Aren't you sick of the gen perks? Don't you want more interaction and fun?
There's valid reasons to not want Distortion changed, but this? This argument is not it, fam.

Do you get blind by flashbangs while looking in a perfectly straight angle to a wall because survivor can just run into you and drop it below you? If the awnser is no then you got your awnser why it wasn't nerfed.

Lightborne has never been an actual issue.
5 -
Nerf lightborn and increase slugging, good idea lol
5 -
It's simple:
Survivors getting hooked is an intended part of a common trial.
Survivors being able to hide all match without getting chased is not.
Therefore one of these deserves a perk for those who can't pull it off without one, the other one isn't.
4 -
Because flashlights kill survivors more than they save them lmao.
When a survivor uses a flashlight that survivor risk their healthstate for an extra healthstate and a stun on an unaware killer, and they have to be close to the killer, which is time off gens and chance to make the killer aware of your location.
Distortion has no risk to it, other than the killer not running auras, in which you lose a single perk
1 -
no bro they gotta throw the match by chasing the killer for 5 minutes just to fail a flashy save.
3 -
Lightborn doesn't stall the game
Quite the opposite in fact, if survivors stop trying to blind and do gens instead.4
