Where are they running?

At the end of the trial the killer and survivor are running in what looks like the same place. I saw on forums that the killer gets teleported hence the burning on your screen once trial ends but then why are they running?

  The survivors are running back to the campfire, the killer is returning back to his area in the realm before he was summoned to take part in the trial.

  They get lost in the fog of the Entity's Realm, and wind up back at the campfire. Sometimes, they wake up there instead, like if they get sacrificed.
