Is returning from a break always horrible? It's like I forgot how to play and it's embarrassing 😳
I took a month off. I just returned on Monday to begin the rift and event tomes. I needed a break but wow, coming back is hard!
I didn't get a single hook yesterday playing as Killer except for a trial where The Survivors wanted to farm and do their challenges. I have over 5,000 hours in this game and it was like I literally forgot how to play.
I wasn't patrolling the generators, I kept wondering why I could see their auras then remembered that you always see them as Killer 😆
It was a rough night. I caught back on to Survivor quickly but the Killer matches were embarrassing. Thankfully I use Anonymous mode.
The Survivors I faced against probably thought I was brand new until end game where they could see my prestige levels.
Have you ever taken a break and returned in bad shape like this?

Oh yes, my friend.
I basically didn't play DBD at all in 2023. Before that I was already unhappy with the game, but things just got to a point where I had to take a long break.
I returned to DBD shortly after Chucky's release, and it was basically a disaster. I had to learn how to play against 4 new killers that I had never seen before. There was a lot to catch up in regards to perks, maps and powers and I wanted to get my Freddy to P100 so there was a long grind ahead.
It was a bit rough for a couple days.

Nah, I don't need to take a break to play like I just installed the game.
I don't even want to think about how bad I would be if I took an extended break from DBD. Nowadays I just put on a meme build and not care too much about how well or badly I play. There's just no point in taking this game seriously at all.

Depends on the person and the game.
Skills fade if you don't practice them so I would not fault yourself for being rusty when you come back. If you play a lot of different killers it can also be harder to re-adjust to using all of their powers in addition to the traditional M1 killer skillset.

Your mechanics will be rusty, but I find dbd more enjoyable after a break it helps me not sweat the small stuff

yes and I don’t even need extended breaks to be bad lol
It used to be that I watched YouTube videos in between matches on bad days. But now, with YouTube ads getting worse and more frequent and my bad days on DBD seeing matches at 4K on record times, its almost as if I play DBD in between YouTube ads some days lol

Im currently super rusty on killer. Thats why i play a lot more survivor right now.

Weirdly enough I'm often better after not playing for a while xD
Of course it's maybe 2 weeks then, otherwise I probably lose a chunk of my musclememory xD

If you are up for some 1v1, I think to do some custom matches first is the best way to remove millscale on muscles.

If you’re playing killer you could always rely on ole faithful: camp-tunnel. As survivor it may be more difficult reacclimatizing to this game after an extended period but if you have friends play SWF. That helps too.

Use Firefox and install adblockers and you won’t have to deal with the insane amount of advertisements.

All hail 🙌 anonymous mode when we play absurdly bad.

I was trying to learn Nurse on console a few years back… I was away from the game for two weeks while traveling, and when I returned I'd lost all the progress I'd made over many many months. I haven't really played as her since.

Everyone is bad after breaks. I used to be quite good at nurse. Can't play her well at all anymore due to so many breaks. Like the above poster it sort of killed my motivation to play her.
