Tbf if you're holding a tape there's 0 point in going into the void as survivor. If you're already holding a special item such as a videotape or the lament configuration (those which cannot be dropped) you cannot pick up a void crystal which is pretty much the only reason to even enter the void this year.

I’ve been trying to avoid playing as killers that have special interactables like this for that exact reason. Doesn’t seem fair to survivors.

TBF if the killer follows you into the void then you know that the killer isn't bothering anyone on gens

So many survivors escaped my grasp via the void. There are many ways to get some distance, its not as easy as last year with that busted instant teleports, but the void itself is extremely convoluted and its easy to loose line of sight there. Also, there is that window vault at the top that catapults survivors past all that rickity bridges, while the killer falls just straight down. So while you are right that the Void Crystals are the best thing here, evasion via void is still pretty strong.

I ran into a killer who was able to somehow fall down the side of the vault and up onto the raised platform. I haven't had the chance to try it out myself, but it might be worth looking into.

It doesn't seem fair? Solve the box or put up the tape. Its that simple.

I just noticed it because I was just trying to put some energy in the well I can understand not being able to take the crystal that makes sense but not being able to go in period doesn’t

Yeah, I've jumped out of the jaws of death by entering the void numerous times. If the portals are opened early in the match and you can sort out where they all are, it's essentially a TP for survs, and makes evasion/misdirection much easier.
Not being able to enter it when holding certain items is a pretty big oversight.
