What do you want the Freddy changes to be

What power would he get changed to? There is a lot of ideas ranging from the simple adding both dream pallets and puddles to full changes like old Freddy and new Freddy being added together.

I just want dream pallets to stay along with teleporting to all gens at end game

Maybe they make him able to fly in the dreamworld. Just flapping his arms fast as #########

Give his own tier and put it above S tier. Make Freddy stronger than Nurse and Blight.

Breddy: activate when dream demon reaches 25% you can press power 2 to turn into demon bird form. Move above the map at 125% speed till deactivated, cannot attack during this form but can launch demon puddles under where you stand.

He should get a move where he nut kicks them both at once.

I'm not sure what I would like but I think the likely buff will be him being able to use both dream snares and pallets switching between types like the clowns bottles

You know what. I changed my mind. Instead of his arms, his ears go up in size by at least 7x, and he starts flapping those instead.

He should be able to summon Jason.

Well, what I have wanted since 2019 is a return to his original power, but now that we know it is not going to happen I am lost.

I don't know what to expect.

I see a lot of people who want elements of Old Freddy to return, but I think some of those takes may be a little underdeveloped. 90% of what he used to be just flat out shouldn't return for obvious reasons, and the remaining 10% would feel a little arbitrary.

Rather, I'd like to see him move forward with his current design, since it's better and more thematic. I've made posts about what I'd want to see before, but I think ultimately I want these three things the most:

    • Snares and Pallets become basekit together, swapping between them and sharing an ammo pool for both like Clown's bottles.
    • Massive rework and overhaul to his addons that focus on giving him more illusory objects in the dream world, all of which disappear when touched and cause the survivor to scream. Higher rarity addons can give extra effects as well, befitting their rarity.
    • Freddy can teleport to completed generators. Always been annoying he can't do this.

While there are a few more tweaks that might be helpful - number tweaks to channelling time or movement speed and the like, or other small elements like that - those are the main things I'm hoping for. If we get those, everything else is just icing.

The only remaining thing from his original design that could come back, the 10% I referred to above, is a way of manually forcing survivors into the Dream World, and I wouldn't mind seeing that since it'd complement his current design fairly well. To do this, I'm imagining the devs would have to give him something like a Vecna spell wheel, where he selects between his illusory objects, his teleport, and the manual Dream World ability. Maybe that'd be too complex, maybe not, who can say. It's not necessary but it would be a nice nod towards his original power.

Don’t basic attacks force survivors into the dream world currently?

Yes, unless they are protected by the temporary immunity after using an alarm clock (which should have never been a thing).

They do, and that's why I don't think this is necessary. Technically speaking you can force survivors into the Dream World, it's just part of the basic gameplay loop instead of a dedicated ability.

There would be benefits to a manual Nyquil Beam like he used to have, since it'd push survivors into tripping snares more often to make getting a hit easier, but it's not required. It's just an idea for the people holding the opinion that any kind of reversion is a good idea.

It's just a bone that you could throw to the people holding the very strange opinion that any kind of reversion is a good idea.

    This disrespect is unneeded.

Sorry, I realised you posted above me after I pressed enter, it does look a bit like a subtweet there. Wasn't intentional, I do disagree with you but I don't mean any personal disrespect to you as an individual.

Then why did you write it?

You really think me and the others as dogs, who would chase after a stick? That is it so, so "strange" for someone to want their favorite character back?

I am only sorry that my campaign will end in failure, but for years I did the best I could for Freddy. And the people who chose to support it deserve better than "a bone for a strange opinion".

The dreamworld needs to be extremely dangerous. If it's not, then he'll never feel like Freddy. Even in his previous form, the dreamworld wasn't threatening. It just slowed everything down. Which was tedious, but not threatening. His power should be similar to the Onryo or Myers. Once he gets you into the dreamworld, you should be in grave danger.

I'll be disappointed if the changes are just snares and pallets as basekit.

Well, a basic attack causing the survivor to enter the dream world is a “manual method” of forcing them into the dream world.

But I assume you mean a more “fire-and-forget” ranged (specifically) ability to make them sleepy?

  • jesterkind
    jesterkind Member Posts: 7,970

Yeah, that's what his old power was. I wouldn't be considering it otherwise- it's purely on my list of potential changes because people want parts of old Freddy back, and the only thing I think could work in modern DBD is having the ranged ability to force survivors into the Dream World.

To actually be helpful, as an overarching set of principles, the main thing I want is the clear distinction of dreamworld vs. the awake world, a feeling like it was the original version, where Freddy is a presence in the awake world and a monster in the dream.

Freddy would need a big power spike of some description when you're asleep somehow, but my vision is that the act of being pulled into the dream world needs to have that "Oh #########" moment it has in the films. I also don't wanna be able to bounce in and out of the dream world either via skillchecks and yoinks...

The other mechanism that annoys me most right now is that I have a neat little timer telling me when I'm gonna be in the dream world... I wanna be nervous and unsure about when I'm gonna be pulled in and when I'm not.

I imagining a greater rework of his power in the dream, but to give an example regarding the sleep mechanics, I'd be happy with something like:

    • Microsleep built up to say a max of 80% passively but I cannot see it on my HUD. (100% is say 100s)
    • Conspicuous actions increases the charge rate by 50% or so up to the cap.
    • Freddy can see survivor sleep timers on his HUD.
    • Freddy can pull me into the Dream by hand like his old version at 10% per second.
    • Skill check misses give me 25% dream progress (and can pull me into the dream). Skill Checks in the dream do not wake me up, or at least require multiple failures to escape.

Something in the same spirit as this would be much cooler imo.

Also wouldn't mind of objects and random patches in the world got bloody and gorey shaders applied, or random red lights like Freddy's boiler room in the dream 😀

Anything...I mean anything they do it's clearly not possible to make him worse then he already is. Even worst case scenario he will likely test positive.

That and give him voice lines so he can rub some salt in the wound.

I want the changes to not be another nerf to him he has had 23 nerfs total since his release.

I want the changes to make the Dream World a threat not something you live in rent free.

I want the Dream World to feel like Freddy's Dream World and not a screen filter.

I want some voice lines Freddy always talked a lot and laughed.

I want some chase music and if we cannot have that I at least want menu music.

I want a Charm, a Badge, a Banner, give him something already.

    A Tome would be nice.

A single cosmetic would be great.

As a Freddy main I will never want old Freddy back I do not care how unique he was he was the only killer who had to wait to hit someone and, in this game, every second counts.

Removing the downside to Class Photo would automatically make Freddy better.

Pill Bottle is a failed out of date concept.

Maybe increase Black Box by 5 seconds.

Red Paint Brush should literally be base kit in its current state.

Cat Block and Z Block should be base kit he is the only killer who requires an add on to have killer instinct well… Other than Spirit.

I think Freddy should grow stronger based on how many survivors are in his Dream World.

It would be cool if Black Box made all survivors fall asleep after the final generator is completed like Dredges add on.

I don't know what to do with Swing Chains, but I do know it is the worst add on in the entire game.

Blue Dress and Green Dress are absolute trash because Freddy has no way to make anyone fail a skillcheck other than Over Charge and Oppression but hardly anyone ever fails them because Freddy is not the Doctor.

His Blindness add ons are only good vs solo survivors.

I don't get why a killer that is all about sleep has nothing to do with the Exhausted Status Effect because in the movie he kept them awake as long as possible leaving them Exhausted until they were too tired to fight back.

It would be nice if Blood Warden activated when the exit gates get opened instead of the hook requirement the stars literally have to align for it to work correctly and the current Black Box don't give you enough time to get to a hook with Blood Warden.

Remember Me is his best perk and that will soon be getting nerfed even though the perk is fine as is.

Freddy's Nancy's Masterpiece/Sketch should speed up the passive teleport recovery it should not just auto fill his teleport meter after teleporting only.

Currently the most effective way to keep everyone asleep is by slugging because hooking a survivor wakes them up leaving them immune to everything you have. The failed Skillcheck concept is out of date, the only way a survivor should be able to wake up is through Alarm Clocks only. It is stupid that Freddy is the only killer with 5 ways to escape his power.

I would say make awake survivors not see blood spewing from the gens but that would probably damage his Class Photo. This would actually be a nice change to Pill Bottle now that I think of it. Make Pill Bottle to where gens no longer spew blood that would actually be very useful if you think about it.

How about action speed bonus per survivor in the Dream World? Because no one likes the old Slower gens so instead of slowing gens per survivor asleep how about each survivor asleep increases his action speeds like Fire Up does? That would make Fire Up very good on Freddy.

I am just tossing out ideas as I post this, but anything I have mentioned would make Freddy a better killer and feel way better to play.

Freddy was intended to be an end game killer I would prefer the changes to make him the very best end game killer.

I hear a lot of people say allow him to use both Snares and Dream Pallets it just sounds kinda dumb to me. I would change Dream Pallets to where they work on real pallets, but you can only make them Dream Pallets while not in chase and they only break the pallet if the survivor is asleep now that would make Freddy a true Nightmare to go against and no one would be trying to live in Freddy's Dream World with that idea. This would also make Dream Pallets way different than Doctor Illusionary Pallets.

Snares currently are just best used for information because they do not really stop a loop. Honestly, I would just prefer Dream Pallets with my buff idea because Dream Pallets feel truer to Freddy than some small puddle of blood in comparison to the movie where he turned entire hallways into blood that brought Nancy to a standstill as if she was in quicksand.
