When are you going to do something more real about hacking?

I keep getting targeted by the same weak-hearted individual over and over and nothing ever stops it. And the worst part is that I get penalized for it with an ever increasing matchmaking lock. Why can't you guys buy these hacks as new packages are released, dissect them and alter the system so they DO NOT work?

Why is this not a systematic practice for you? You should be on these hack releases like white on rice and you just aren't. Hackers are not "players too."

What gives?

    Because theres no money to be made by losing those hackers. It would be great for us players. But it serves no purpose than some positive PR for BHVR.

    Honestly, I figured they'd want as much positive PR they can get given the state of the game.

    OP asks why BHVR dont do control purchases to study the cheating software to discover efficient methods of fixing the exploits cheats use and Im asking why do they think that isn't the case already.

    I dont understand why do I have to explain why this question is rhetorical and that devs most definitely already do that if that's anywhere useful to combat cheating.

    And you asked a question to OP that was kind of lazy and boring. Rhetorical or not, matters little. I decided to give you an answer I felt is correct. You dont 'have' to explain anything. Hell, you don't even have to respond, my dude.

    They would probably have to rewrite most of the netcode from the ground up, since right now it simply trusts the client almost entirely because the game was peer to peer from the start. The most powerful hacks, like teleporting around the map and instantly downing and killing all survivors, or doing all the gens, or editing the health states and hook states of any player in the game, are in the game because the game fundamentally trusts the client too much. Obviously I don't know the technical details but still, these kinds of hacks aren't possible in many multiplayer games.

    Unfortunately I don't think it's worth it for BHVR to fix cheats and rewrite the netcode and client server interaction. The time cost wouldn't justify the gains, and the overwhelming majority of players do not run into cheaters. I think making DBD free on Epic was a huge mistake. Right now, if cheaters are banned, it costs nothing to grab one of thousands of shelved epic games accounts and start cheating again.

    I think the cheating epidemic would be less severe if it was more costy for hackers to get DBD accounts. If for example the Maddening Darkness pack was incorporated into the base game and the game was 12$ at its lowest , even on sale, that would make cheating a much bigger investment. Right now the game can be bought on steam for around 4$ if you trick regional pricing which of course cheaters will do.

    Making the game more expensive wouldn't be great for new players, but actual legitimate players only have to buy DBD once, so I think it would have been worth it. But with the amount of accounts hackers have as backup on Epic from the free week, it's all a moot point. I'm sure BHVR are doing all they can given the current situation, but with the current cheating landscape, it's just such an uphill battle.
