Preventing toxic rageposts

We've seen a few examples recently of some people creating some very evil posts on the forum (e.g. the ones posting gore, the ones using racial slurs, death threats against the devs, etc.). What can be done to help prevent this in the future?

I hope the forum moderators are considering solutions like having a minimum number of previous forum comments before being allowed to create a post, a minimum amount of time after creating an account (maybe a week or two) before being allowed to create a new post, etc. Also, seems like there should be a way to hardware and/or IP ban these people so they it's not as easy for them to create a new account after they're banned. I know with these kinds of things there are always going to be ways around it, but it seems like it's still too easy now for sick people to make a mess on the forums.

Well, to start off with I don't think we should call them what you just called them and moderators usually come around to check in on a post, you can also flag a post and it will get notified by moderators when they have time next. Even if you IP ban them, they can use a VPN and avoid it and I have never heard of a website being able to hardware ban a person too.

I think the way dbd is designed just makes it easy to lash out like a toddler. My theory is that it has to due with how the game dispenses dopamine. Maybe the BHVR in BHVR is a subtle nod that they are a psyop company disguised as a video game conpany (this is sarcasm)

This has already been suggested, and Mandy said that the forum software they use does not have this capability. The mods would take preventative measures if they could.

I do not know if they're looking into new forum software. I doubt they'd tell us if they were. (If I were them, I certainly wouldn't mention it. Telling this crowd you "might" do something or are "looking into" doing something is immediately interpreted as are doing something and then everyone keeps asking when it's happening.)

I have noticed the past 2 months of new accounts posting very obvious rage bait threads

I've been on forums where mods have to approve the thread before it's actually visible.

    Just a thought.

The weekends are usually when they crawl out. I can set my watch to it!

While ragebaiting is a thing that I have seen quite regularly, the especially devious badmouther that made OP write this piece was certainly not your regular rager. While they seemed quite unhinged, they also fully knew that they would be banned in short order and I wouldn't give this individuals too much thought. Maybe they feel shame afterwards, now that their post-rage clarity sets in, maybe they feel that the game isn't made for them; whatever the case, they will probably move on.

Fun note: I hate a tussel with a salty survivor about a week ago and this one left like 7 messages on my steam profile, how my parents never loved me and that I was actually adopted — and today this one returned and repeated the same message :D How long can you carry a rage about a single round of DBD? … well, with 400h they are probably just in ther DBD honeymoon phase and I soured that :P

There can definitely be rage posts that at least indicate that the person posting the rage is mentally ill. Normal people don't normally go that crazy.
