Possible 2 Survivors Left Solution

If the hatch spawned when two survivors were left, but only one survivor could enter it, do you think this would solve this longstanding "hostage" situation?

just die i suppose, though knowing how biased such suggestions are, i would imagine they would say the last survivor is now allowed to interact with gates.

imagine losing half of your kills because first survivors get rng roll on the hatch and the other wins 50/50 at gates that spawned with half of the map in between them.

    peak backwards solution.

appreciate the idea but i don't think it would work. The survivors could get destroy and get a draw in that system. One get hatch and the other play the gate game.

Yeah, this is what I thought too. I don't support slugging for 4k, but imagine one going through hatch and the other getting out the gate. All without the killer even spotting them sometimes. I feel like that could be some pretty unengaging gameplay.

Alternatively, imagine the plight of the last survivor if the gates aren't powered at that point... Why even bother? Both scenarios aren't great :(

thats why the solution should be aimed not at just "removing slugging for 4k", but at generally reworking the 2v1/1v1 so it doesn't irreversibly suck.

What if the Killer decided to close the hatch...EGC with two survs and 3 gens left?

I think it would be cool to have a showdown mechanic. One survivor and the killer enter a void and one survivor has to repair a special gen. The survivor has to survive in the chase while the special gen is repaired to power the gates.

I think what should be done is both Survivors are given basekit Unbreakable, and Endgame Collapse starts 20 minutes into a game regardless of how many Survivors are left.

If the Collapse starts this way, the killer has killer instinct on all remaining Survivors for a few seconds.

Prevents killers and survivors from taking the game hostage, prevents Survivors from taking the game hostage, and makes sure the game come to an end after a reasonable amount of time.

EDIT: Why it do that bar thingy :(

Unlikely to work. Sometimes when it is reduced to two survivors, the game is still competitive (one gen remaining with progress), while in other situations the survivors would just sacrifice on hook even quicker to try and get to the hatch situation so they could get some escapes.

Though the above is a general problem with pretty much any solution I've seen to the 2v1 scenario.

Then the counterplay would be to slug the last 3 survivors. That's harder than only 2 but if hatch spawned with 2 survivors still alive it would be close to impossible to get a 4k without slugging the remaining 3.

How long does it take a survivor to find the hatch? I'd say anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds is somewhat realistic. Try killing both survivors in that time. That's more than a little optimistic, so the hatch would pretty much guarantee an escape. At that point many killer players would feel robbed and double down on slugging.

I like this idea, but what would happen is what happens in 2v1s normally, the killer will just proxy the gen and drop chases to ensure they don't lose (or if they lose it is after 20 minutes).

I think a "bleed self out" button and a showdown mode where the survivor has to outrun a timer without going down could be cool, but realistically BHVR is never going to implement that, so just the bleed self out button would be fine considering it forces hatch spawn and would remove slugging for the 4k.

I don't think so to be honest. All it takes is somebody to bring in a 'hatch at shack' offering and now you'll have a hatch standoff between two survivors with the killer being the deciding factor on who escapes. Also doesn't it just bring back the awful dynamic of how old hatch worked? I don't really see it being a good compromise for both sides since all it does it encourage letting the third die for an easy hatch and only incentivizes killers to needlessly slug even more to prevent hatch escapes.

The killer wouldn't be able to defend the gen in this instance. The killer and survivor being chased would be in a void similar to the Halloween event. It would be a race against the clock for both sides

    No

Its basically a free out for at minimum 1 survivor in every scenario

    1. The one survivor finds it first so they get out and the other one still has a chance at doors
    2. You find it first and both survivors go on seperate doors
    3. The survivors find it first and one has a key so both instant escape
    4. You find it first, one survivor opens a gate while the other buys time then keys out

It almost entirely just asks for a killer to slug all 4 survivors to get consistent 4ks if they ever end up in a winning scenario or else they can 2k ON A WIN

I stand by my opinion that hatch should go completely. No hatch means no reason for 2 v 1 stand off, no more extra chance at escape (that doesn't even count in win rates) and no reason to drag the match on any longer than needed. Survivors should do gens and escape via gate. Failing that it's match over, they get sacrificed, better luck next match. Ye they could still hide the match out but there would no reason to other than being toxic (server end game would mean they get sacrificed anyway). Bottom line is, if there is a hatch, the killer will slug just before it becomes available. If hatch spawned at 2 survivors left killer would slug 3 survivors. People already hate it when killers slug but part of the reason is the mori system but its partly due to the hatch too.

Hatch really isn't a reason to slug for 4k though. Whatever path is given as an escape for the last survivor, there are some players who will try to bypass it if there's a way to do that. The reason people are doing these things is that they're worried about not completely dominating a match whenever possible.

The problem is that slugging for 4k really puts the killer into an extreme power position over the last survivor. But each match is really meant to involve a set of mini-games between each survivor and the killer. The only advantage the survivors have is that at the start of the game, they have each other to potentially rely on. Once there's one survivor left, there's no realistic way for the survivor to hope to escape in most matches. This is the effect that slugging for a 4k achieves; it creates an extraordinarily imbalanced game almost like a hunter hunting a defenseless animal in an enclosed arena. There's no sport in it.

Some people will also complain that hatch is rng based, so sometimes they're not going to be lucky. But sometimes they are lucky and will easily find hatch first. So in this way, hatch can be viewed as a mechanic that simply balances the odds between killer and survivor. But hatch race is actually killer sided since the killer has higher move speed and doesn't have to hide if the survivor shows up. That means the killer should be easily covering more ground and often preventing the survivor from getting to common hatch spawn locations.

Hatch is really just a way to make the game more fun and fair in what would otherwise be a drawn out game of hide-and-seek that the killer has an extreme advantage in. I find it pretty petty to put someone playing a game with me in that kind of situation unless they've been doing some bm themselves. I say all this because I've seen a lot of people say that hatch is the problem. But hatch isn't causing people to do this; that's just the player wanting an easy kill.
