So... what happened?
I was on hiatus for over 4 years. Why have they nerfed Hex: Ruin, Sloppy Butcher and Save the Best for Last?
Why aren't Dying Light, Distressing, Unrelenting, Unnerving Presence and Overwhelming Presence buffed yet?

if this is a shock for you, then please don’t look at what they did with thanataphobia

Hex: Ruin was nerfed in a big overhaul of the game's meta, after years of players complaining that they were only seeing the same four to six perks in every single match, over and over. Anecdotally, that was very much my experience as well, so that patch was a welcome breath of fresh air.
Sloppy Butcher was nerfed after certain healing tools were also nerfed, causing some to believe it was comparatively too strong. I've always disagreed with this decision myself, though.
Save The Best For Last has always had some quiet debate about its healthiness, and BHVR evidently eventually agreed. The nerf was kind of sloppily done, but the bones of a fine change were in there.
To your other list: Those weren't, but other weak and terrible perks actually are good now. Gearhead is one of the best info tools in the game (in my opinion), Predator is genuinely useful instead of being a detriment, and Shadowborn was changed to have an actual effect now that the FOV slider is a basekit addition. Lots of things have changed for the better in the last four years, alongside the few things that changed for the worse.

They nerfed all of them because of survivors. The End.

You’ve been gone four years and that’s your question..?

The fog (and swaying grass, particles, etc) was greatly reduced or removed in an effort to improve game performance, especially for the last gen consoles.

Look I don't want to shoo you away from the game but if you made it to not play it for 4 years. Do yourself a favor, uninstall and never come back.
This game is on it's way to become a try hard e-sport game with fortnite graphics and a playerbase as toxic as league of legends.
I saw many posts of new and veteran players leaving for good and I am also already on my third break.
This game always had the potential to ruin your evening but at the state it is now there is simply no fun in playing anymore.
Everything is just pure sweat, anger and frustration.
Keep your life positiv. Cause dbd currently is a total negative.3 -
Couldn't agree more. They mess up on a daily basis.
They need help and not another skin collection3 -
They didn't nerf save thr best for last. They just made it work as intended for basic attack killers.
While you were away, they made killers kick faster, attack faster and the amount of distance survivors gain after being attacked was nerfed considerably.
They could have given it a real nerf

That's why I brought it up. It never was good, until the most recent buff, now it's one of the better info perks in the game.
Ruin is… okay. It has its place, but it's not the go-to best regression perk anymore. There are definitely better choices these days, including perks that were added to the game while you were gone.

Not just for that reason. It was also changed because people complained about stealth!

I hope they never touch dead dog/toba bushes

I don't know if this is sarcasm, but yes. Survivor demands were met, without regard to skill, counterplay, teamwork, the experience of the ones asking. No real discussion at all. I mean, look no further than Thana, which was used on 2 killers, and still is.

I don't know man. Either "adapt" (if that was even a quote back then), or don't bother coming back. If you're gonna play killer, you're gonna join the masochistic elite, or you're not gonna do anything. Good survivors won't let you. And you'll mostly be facing those as killer, and never have them as teammates when playing survivor, because MMR does that. You'd be surprised at the nerfs/buffs log though. Prepare to have your mind blown again and again.

Red Dead 2 is the best example I know of, a game that looks amazing on all platforms, yet the resource demand compared to DBD is so much less even with much more going on. This game's rough optimization plays a huge part as well.

Hey dude you should check out some really cool buffs such as furtive chase, trail of torment, predator, Zanshin Tactics, Blood Echo, Deathbound, Grim Embrace and not even mentioning new perks lmao

Well, Dead Dog is unlikely to be changed but people complain about Toba Landing having a lot of clutter. The three-story main is a common complaint as well even though the rest of the map has weak or no loops.

Oh ofc its only KILLERS perk ruined no no no lets be fair people
Self care
Iron will
Boil over
Circle of healing
Distortion
Adrenaline
Med kits and all add ons
Prove thy self
were gonna love forever
Buckle up
Metal of man
Dead hard
Spine chill and it no longer works vs stealth killers
Off the record and ds=,this garbage call conspicuous actions which means you lose their benefits if you do anything at all and they no longer work when last gen pops
Survivor speed boost on hits reduced
Great wiggle skill checks no longer shave off time off wiggling.
Endurance stacking gone.
All this cause killers complain just as much as survivors do about nerf nerf nerf.

How is losing a stack when spearing a survivor or throwing one single knife not a "real nerf"

Just imagine what our precious Switch cousins have to deal with for DBD performance! 😕

I've played the bulk of my DBD hours on an Xbox1x, which was the absolute strongest of the prior gen machines. Even had an SSD in it. Still struggled to digest this game.
It's not the capabilities of any of the consoles, or any PC for that matter. It's the resource bottleneck issue, as you can feel & see from the demands on your rig when running DBD.
Back in early 2019 they set a goal of getting all platforms to run it at a minimum of 60fps. After like two more years passed they fessed up that they just couldn't do it, all due to this bottleneck problem.
What this game needs most imo is a complete recoding from scratch, which is unlikely to happen sadly. But doing so would allow them to address so many optimization issues as well as that bottlenecking, plus cool things like a trial replay system to be added, or M&K support for the consoles, or some of the features the mobile version has, etc.
