New 2 vs 8 sounds promising

2V8 | Developer Update : r/deadbydaylight

Trapper and Billy getting buffed. Huntress and Nurse see justified nerf. Also new classes for both sides looks fantastic. I see only 2 problems at least for me

Killer Classes

New Killer Class: Shadow

  • Class Ability: When within 32 meters of a teammate, you gain Undetectable. Injuring a Survivors transfers the Undetectable effect to your teammate instead. This ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
  • Info Ability: When your teammate initiates chase with a Survivor, reveal the Survivor for an additional 4 seconds.

This class sound completly weak trash, i mean whats a poin with undetectable status effect that work only on you with your teammate radius (means you do not get value cause survivors still can hear your teammate terror radius)

And second from all killers they can bring to mod they choose the most boring one (Spitit, Deathslinger, Blight). Its really dissapointment.

Glad the mode looking better. I wish everyone the best with it. I'm taking a break bc I'm not sitting in 15min killer queues again like last time. I'm not a fan of 2v8 bc I have no one to play with and normal 1v4 queue times are most likely going to be terrible as well...

I think lobby time wont be so long this time cause killer selection, cause you have as choise play the original 5 that you already play enough in first mode version or play strong but frustratingly boring Blight, Spirit and Deathslinger (not only they boring but there is a chanse you dont have this killer, cause this 3 are also the most rare and unpopular so there is great change mosty dont even bought them) So game for killers became boring very quickly

Honestly, I think it will always be this way.

Survivor gameplay doesn't change that much, you just have a bigger team with the slightly tweaked effects of different perks.

But killer? Playing killer with someone else is extremely fun, and the more characters they add to this mode the better it will be. Just like the first Lights Out, the killer experience is simply more fun in 2v8.

I'm really looking forward to it & i'll play at least 75% survivor, clearing old tome challenges (where no particular perk required) was a breeze most of the time & it felt like I actually had teammates who wanted to survive! Sure not all 7 but enough to make the games close.

On the killer side I still only have trapper, none of the others I ever play beyond achievements or tomes, did main hunteress for a solid 6 months but that was over 6 years ago & everyone else did (& still will) pick her anyway.

    I like the changes too.

Survivors already have a huge advantage, they have 20% fewer targets (standard 4 survivors 5 generators 2v8 8 survivors 8 generators)Why make their task even easier and punish killers for hooks?

They added blight. I'm expecting the q times to be even longer than previous. on the bright side...... that 400% bloodpoint bonus on survivors can really paid some bills!

The old chest tome challenges are easy in the 2v8. "open 8 chests" You got throw to do that in the normal 1v4. Also many of challenges that want u to play specific character.

Judging those changes, I dont see why survivors would want to play this mode more than before. Just welcome extremely long killer queues again.

If you're on the edge of your partners radius, survivors on the opposite side won't hear your partner's radius and you'll be undetectable. You hit them, then let them escape your now audible radius, and they run into your undetectable partner.

This promotes a specific form of hit and run while not directly teaming up. Which means it's better to stay close but not too close to your partner.

I think this is a good design. It means if you play smart you can get good stealth value, but you don't benefit from it if you're double teaming a survivor to the point they have no chance of escape.

I'm looking forward to the changes made to the roles, especially the addition of killer roles, but I can't say I'm too happy that they made sure to add in all the most meta killers before adding in the mid-tier fun ones. Part of the reason I was having so much fun with 2v8 is because it generally wasn't a sweatfest. Now we don't just have Nurse, we have two super high tier mobility killers - Blight and unnerfed Billy, who just got way more attractive than most the options on the roster. Though the Trapper aura share with the teammate was a much-needed buff and I look forward to playing with it.

The gen speed changes are interesting but I rather doubt they're actually going to influence how the matches play out - they're too minor in the killer's direction, and don't balance out heavy player loss in the survivor direction.

But of course, I'll have to see how it all plays out!

I wished I could say playing with another killer was fun but honestly for me it wasnt…the mode is made for killers who have firends to play with and I just dont land in that group. I could just not play it but the issue is 2v8 affects the normal mode as well, making killer queue there longer as well. So no matter what mode I play as killer I will have to suffer the 15+ min queue times. It just makes the game not worth playing for me while 2v8 is on. So I be taking a break v.v Also means my rift isnt going to get done either :-/

Now we have Fixated on Scout? Oh yes, these Blights about to get juiced

When I play killer I'm just gonna do what I did last time; have a smoke break and use the bathroom, maybe do s9me dishes. These 2v8 queues got me productive

I would disagree that it was more fun. For me it was less fun in 2v8, since every game was basically a stompfest when I was playing Killer. I did not get anything below a 7K in all games as Killer. With a random Killer as teammate, so basically SoloQ for Killer.

I had and have more fun in 1v4, it feels more challenging and rewarding to win there as Killer compared to 2v8. But sadly 2v8 destroyed the queuetimes for 1v4 as well, so I am really not looking forward to the return of 2v8.

Honestly, I think it should have been delayed until more characters and maps were added. Up to Skull Merchant, I'd say.

2v8 is different than other modifiers, and it has a big impact in queue times. I think it should provide a better experience than it did last time, especially for those who have to solo queue as killer.

Sorry friend, what I meant to say was that playing killer is more fun in 2v8 than playing survivor in 2v8. Same for Lights Out, imho.

Ah, yes. This is something I would agree on. (even tho I did not like Lights Out on either side. Getting jumpscared by the Killer was as little fun as it was to lose a Survivor once they vaulted a window)

I had pretty much the same experience as killer in 2v8. It's the reason I stop queuing for it after a few days it was added. Unfortunately I couldn't play normal mode either tho thanks to the longer queue times.

I liked the first Lights Out event, even if Freddy wasn't available. I think it was more horror-inclined than the actual game.

Plus, that is when I started playing Knight and I really liked him!

Dude did you see the new abilities on cooldown?

    • 50% instaheal in a 8 meter radious
    • Pallet renewal(imagine how many uses you could get of a god pallet)
    • 25% extra speed while injured (probably the description Is wrong but insane if not)
    • 5% bnp for each survivor after conpleting gen no skill checks requieres

Don't know about you but this makes me really exited honestly

I have a feeling I'll prefer the first version of the mode, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. I'm still happy about it returning but I do have some misgivings:

    • I'm not too thrilled to see Blight and Spirit added to 2 Vs 8, especially in a buffed form. Two very strong Killers that I struggle to play against.
    • I might be on my own with this one, but I don't think Billy needs his instadown saw back. I felt like I did pretty well with him last time in the few games that I was able to queue for.
    • Why no unlockable self-care for all Survivor classes this time? I don't understand the rational behind this change at all.
    • Now that the cages no longer move if another Survivor is near, what's to stop Killers downing any Survivors going for saves by the cages, then camping the caged Survivor who now cannot be respawned elsewhere? Maybe this won't happen much in the actual trails, but I think this (plus the ability to flashlight and pallet save) could lead to Killers camping and slugging more often, which is a backwards step in my opinion.
    • I really, really hope the Killer queues are much better this time around. That's the number 1 change I'd like to see for version 2.
    • Can we pip in 2 Vs 8 this time around? I really hope so…

Spirit and Blight needs buffs cause in 2vs8 they cant use addons that make them actually threat. At base kit both of them are mediocre or sometimes even weak

  • Laluzi
    Laluzi Member Posts: 6,225

Spirit, maybe. Blight, definitely not. Blight without addons is a better killer than half the available roster in 2v8 with addons.

Adding spirit oh yes already not even going to touch 2 v 8, I love my iron will ty and the last I need is her with her 0 counter play cause even using head phones still dont mean anything of a counter and more of close your eyes and pray. Ill take idv 2 v 8 anytime anyday. Hopefully most the sweat fest killers stay in the mode.

They overdid it, the charm was in the simplicity of this gamemode. Despite all the buffs, 15 minutes for a match as killer... I don't think we will ever see 2v8 again.

That shadow class might work agaisn't new players. Undetectable has never worked that well agains't solid survivors and we still have killers whose power is that... So I quess it's there for new players and it can occasionally throw some survivors off the quard and it means to be used killers staying together.

I agree the new killers are disappointing they could not bring worse ones for me personally. Both blight and deathslinger are super hard for console. Spirit is just huge turn off for me I don't like how she is played. Sight is most important for me. I suck when I don't see.

So my opinion is they should only brought one of them. Maybe blight as he is the most popular. They should 100% brought Oni and Legion very useable killers on console and fun for everyone. What I heard they can't bring licenced ones I would wanted to see Myers but probably not going to happen.
