It is a good thing 2vs8 is survivor sided
And I say that as a killer main btw. My reasons :
PERKS
1vs4 : survivors can chose the strongest perks and combine them.
2vs8 : survivors have to make a choice between different sets of perks. They cannot cover all of their weaknesses.
COMPOSITION AS SURVIVOR
1vs4 : you just need to find 3 people to make a full SWF stack. Even with 1 friend (duo) you have a guarantee they are going to come for the save and not let you root on a hook or do stupid plays.
2vs8 : you are most likely playing with soloQ teammates that absolutely don’t care about you and will use you as meat shield if needed.
COORDINATION AS SURVIVOR
1vs4 : just by reading the HUD, it is easy to coordinate for going for saves while keeping a teammates on a generator and / or keeping the killer busy. It is way easier to understand what is going on at any given time, and the state of the map : what gen have been done / pallets been used.
2vs8 : the HUD is way more busy, it is almost impossible to coordinate with your teammates to do anything, especially because they are soloQ. The match is very chaotic having 2 killers, it is hard to keep track of dead areas or what is the correct play to do next. Survivors run from killers like headless chickens everywhere or stay togeather as a herd not being efficient at all.
MATCH RESULT AS KILLER
1vs4 : it feels like it matters because you probably chased or interacted with most or all of the survivors in the lobby.
2vs8 : you don’t even know who is who. They are so many, it doesn’t make much difference if 2, 3, 4 or 5 escape, it is just a bunch of survivors.
For all these reasons, I think it is a good thing 2vs8 is survivor sided.

The only reason it's good is because of queue times. That's it. Encouraging more people to play survivor is a good thing.
I sure as hell am not waiting 15 minutes to get a lobby for the game to be over in 5.

"They are so many, it doesn’t make much difference if 2, 3, 4 or 5 escape, it is just a bunch of survivors"
This gave me a laugh because it's so accurate

have you seen the guide class? you stick together and do gens……. also with 8 survivors, sticking together is far less punishing gen-wise because of how much over-dose repair you get. this was true in original 2vs8 as well with the scout aura+escapist speed boosts.
are you implying that survivor classes are not strong enough? instant gens, instant heals, speed boosts and perma wall-hacks. not strong enough. next version, pick 2 classes at once.

Instant gens ? Explain.

better you don't know. losing as killer in this mode feels like your losing to crutch mechanics.

This. As killer I wanna stretch the game out. The queue times for killer are too long to blow through a match.

Honestly, I feel it's all about the maps. If you're on a large map it's survivor sided. I played both sides on large maps and as a killer you just can't control the gens. There's just too many to guard and it's hard to get people out of the game quick enough to control it. On the smaller maps is the opposite where the Killer is always on you. As a killer on a large map if I win they usually get all the gens done and maybe I'll get three or four out of the game. On the smaller maps as a killer you just pressure the heck out of them with fast people. As a survivor you just can't stay on the gens enough to pop them or you spend most of the game unhooking people. So I feel it's kind of balanced all depending on what you're playing and on what map. The only variable is if you're stuck with a bunch of potatoes as a survivor which is always been a issue. Trapper is too slow especially on a large map and Billy should never be a one hit. Other than that it seems pretty good

Oh, you dont know about the insta gens? Lmao you going to flip once you see it, old bnp is back.

You mean the token power ? That's not "instant".

People have so little imagination, this is why you see players who cannot comprenhend exploits.
3 -
You see, people always understimate gen jockeys like me because they are always so focused on chases. They want to dodge a high mobility killer and make a montage later.
But if the gens don't get finished, those dodges and chases are meaningless. And look at what we can do with the right stuff.
(All jokes aside, the Guide class is broken this time).

yo why is every one complaining? All I see is people complaining. This is supposed to be a fun game mode. Like guys this ain’t going to be the end of the world. I swear no one can just have fun anymore. Nerf this buff that. Just chill. Behavior could fart in the wind and killer mains will complain about something. Like guys you aren’t going to lose a championship game over here. And I don’t know about you other killer mains. But me and my killer duo have been getting 7k’s and 8k’s back to back to back. So maybe you guys aren’t as good as you think you are.

Guide class is overtuned and there's not much Killers have to prevent this class from popping gens left and right. I am not joking when I say you need to tunnel someone out as Killer or you're not getting kills, spreading hooks is PUNISHED in this mode.

Doesn't seem survivor sided to me, the kill rate is still higher than 50%. It's just much closer to 50% than 1v4 so killer mains aren't used to playing a fair game since devs have catered to making the main game ez mode for killers for so long. It's much more balanced than 1v4 which feels good for survivors.

its not survivor sided at all

This exploit also takes 5 people for the 4 person gens, 7 for the 3 player ones to be instant, on top of all 4 guides taking a hook. It is doable but past the 2-3 4 player ones its not going to happen a lot.

I think this is the exploit i saw Hens trying to pull off with a team, and even they struggled and threw multiple games trying to get it to work. Your average team isn't pulling this off lol

Yes it is that one. Not an easy one to pull off at all tho. 1 bubba/blight will ruin it with ease.

bubba? in 2v8? 🤨

I was gonna be like, "What?!" but basically, yes. I think that the survivor objective, and the process of escaping, is so simple that for the longest time now, surviving a match hasn't really been indicative of skill. It's about everything but the end result. How hard did the killer and survivor have to fight this match? You can run the killer for 5 gens, and do all 5 of them yourself, and if you die because you got downed once and your team left you, them escaping doesn't make them better than you. In the same way, a bunch of survivors escaping doesn't always mean the killer played really bad. He could've just been on autopilot the whole time, chasing survivors through setups which had no reasonable counterplay or chance to cut down on time. This happens all the time in 1v4, so naturally it would happen in 2v8, with like 4 survivors on gens at all times, and not even double the amount of gens needed to be done compared to standard.
2 -
For queue times, maybe. And I still think the draw of having a buddy to kill with outweighs the balance issues.
But man, gen speeds can get insane in this mode, no doubting it.0 -
sorry Billy miss typed. to may killers with B names and chainsaws.

It doesnt need to be "survivor sided", it just needs to be fun for survivors

^ This.
I watched my friend complete the first 2v8 Tome level as survivor. He did not have fun. Yes, he escaped some matches, but escaping didn't make an otherwise frustrating experience fun, he didn't experience any amount of happiness escaping. He hasn't played since he finished the Tome and I haven't played this new 2v8 iteration at all.
