Just had my first killer game on 2v8. What exactly is the point?

So I finally decided to wait the long que time for a killer game. Went for Deathslinger as its the killer i have the most fun with out of the list and my lord. what was the point of that game?

I've played a lot of survivor and its very fun but i didn't realize just how easy survivors had it.

By time i even got to where survivors spawned…gen pop
I engage in chase and down a survivor…gen pop
Games goes on gens fly, me and my blight team mate are trying to stop it as much as we can and suddenly we are on 1 gen left.
Its ok i thought. we can patrol the gens and try and bring this back applying a bit of pressure...Nope there are 6…that's right 6 generators available to repair on a very large map. Well thats game over last gen pops because its impossible to defend them all.

Is it any wonder that majority of killers who play this game mode run nurse, blight, billy or spirit for the faster movement. M1 killers or even huntress/deathslinger that are slower in general you might as well not bother unless you have a VERY good team mate with you.

Why oh why is there 13 generators total? I expected there to be 4 gens left to do when 1 gen is required but not 6.
This one game has basicly solidified the fact that i will only ever play survivor in this game mode because the game mode is VERY survivor sided.
Honestly makes 1v4 looks positivly balanced in comparison (and thats saying something lol)

This isn't chaos. its just unfun Imo.

I wouldn't mind so much if it actually was chaotic but honestly that game didn't feel chaotic it just felt unfair. If BHVR want to actually put out a true chaotic mode for 2v8 then it needs to be the full killer roster avaliable and everyone both survivors and killers have random perks. Sort of a combo off 2v8 and Chaos Shuffle.

im not crying about balance im stating that the killer experience isn't fun. I will admit i tried one more game it wasn't so bad but only because i played wraith that i'm kinda good at and i effectivly had to play dirty to win.
But thank you for your valuable input into the conversation your comments have been noted.

Never said the original game was balanced i know it is very killer sided as a killer main. was saying the first game made the original feel balanced lol.

I get what your saying though. a lot of killers did take it to far to optimise the game but i feel with the new stratagies coming about this time on survivor side that survivor groups are slowly trying to do a similar thing. Hopefully its just a few groups as its a lot harder to organise 8 people than it is a duo.

    There isn't a point when you have a 20-minute queue for a 6-minute match.

The problem is they decided to make it "chaotic and fun" by making it feel like easy mode for Survivors, and making Killer feel bad compared to the balanced 1v4.

Anyone calling this mode "Killer-sided" truly doesn't play Killer at all, or only plays the strongest ones every time. Most people are in agreement it's more Survivor-sided, and deeply unbalanced. Whether or not you find it "fun" is pretty subjective; it's still boring as Surv in my opinion. They were closer to the mark in the first iteration; go back to that and stop actively making the mode worse for one side in some misguided attempt to make it more appealing for the other. I don't play Survivor to stomp all over Killers, I play Survivor to feel like I need to try and survive with my friends.

How many Killer rounds have you gotten into? There definitely is.

You don't want to play killer in 2v8? GOOD! That is the point.

They overdid it with all the changes. The matches are ridiculously short for all the time you are queing. The only attraction is being able to play killer with a friend, everything else fails. They gens fly ridiculously fast, the whole comeback system feels unnecessary, as well as the new skill that boost your repair. And the killers are no better either, there is so much haste effect involved that makes the chases insanely short and dumb. This gamemode basically eliminates any sign of skill from the game.

they swung the pendulum to make it broken on survivor this time around to help with queues . The mode is not about balance and if you play as solo queue killer just go in for the fun of it because you will most likelly loose if the other side has half a brain .

I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to these ridiculously long killer queue times, especially given how survivor-sided this event is. Apparently killers weren't nerfed enough because there are still too many people who want to play the killer side!

Some have suggested iri shards to help incentivize more people to play survivor during the event. People really don't seem to care that much about crazy high BP incentives. I think it would help a lot, but of course BHVR gets worried about losing revenue for cosmetics once they start handing out shards, so it's not a simple business decision.

I think the reason killers still que up for this mode is because the killer que times in normal mode are nearly as long right now. last night I went back to 1v4 mode and was subject to 8 - 10 minute que times for killer. So i get why killers would que up for 2v8.
What strikes me weird is although killer is seen as the more fun side to play in 2v8 something else must be going on for ques to be that long. Given that you need to get 8 survivors into the lobby either there really is just a ton more killer players than survivor or the matchmaking just doesn't work.
Not sure if there was any clarification on this before but is MMR factored in with the 2v8 mode. If it wasn't stated then i would assume that either it is and its intentional or it is and BHVR forgot to turn it off because if lobbies are trying to be matched based on MMR then that would explain the horrific que times at least for the killer side.

Played 2 games as killer with a friend and got 2k and 8k. I was wraith he was huntress. It a lot easier being able to communicate with each other.

2 games one with wraith and the other with spirit with a random player. Zero k both times.

Spirit and deathslinger are poor choices when devs could've used doctor or clown instead.

The amount of pallets and being able to reset god pallets is destroying the game.

That and the obscenely fast gens.

Won't be playing killer again the wait times are ludicrous compared to actual game play time.

I've only had a few games as killer this time so far. Had a 7k (last got hatch) and nothing less than a 4k so it's been quite balanced in my experience so far.

Trapper, Hillbilly and Spirit were my chosen killers.

There's enough players for both modes, people just prefer to play killer in both. Being able to play with a teammate or friend is drawing solo/duo survivors away from the survivor queue on both sides while there's nothing except a BP bonus on survivor side to draw players away from killer.

This is also incidentally why the incentive is always on Survivor in 1v4. It has nothing to do with the Survivor experience being bad or "Killers being too strong". It's just that Killer is, always will be, and always has been MORE fun than Survivor period, barring one point in the far distant past when Survivors were in fact legitimately too strong.

Your comment doesn’t make sense. If the core gameplay features of survivor in the past (what you describe as a time when survivors were “too strong”) are unchanged, and they are in fact unchanged, then the role would still be as popular today. Unless something has changed to affect the survivor gameplay experience.

From what I have seen here you tend to post a bit more Survivor-sided takes. Nothing wrong with that, but that could explain why you aren't understanding where I am coming from. The point is the role is not popular because there is nothing new in it for Survivors to do even in 1v4, once you understand team tactics and how to loop that's about it. Meanwhile Killer almost always has something new to learn and master across over 30 different Killers. It just makes sense that part of the reason Survivor isn't as popular and always has an incentive, is because it's not as interesting after a while. The other part being, I think a lot of long term Survivor mains miss that they can't combo certain perks anymore and get strong value, or otherwise feel shafted in some way, or that Killers are too strong. I can see the first two points, but I will never understand the third one, and I PLAY Survivor. Pretty frequently, too.

Deathslinger got the short end of the stick, his only buff is reload speed and it is not enough on large maps, don't play him if you care about winning or good results because you will be crawling around like a snail on huge maps.

I think they simply overcorrected a bit. The first iteration was very unfun for many survivors, which is why they stopped playing, and the incentives shot up to around 400%. There were a lot of ways killers took advantage of knowing there were no defense perks of any kind, and so in this iteration they’re simply trying to provide solutions.
All of the buffs survivors have received are trying to not only help with some of the balancing that was absent in the last iteration but also make it more appealing because of the crazy long wait times. Many killers were understandably upset about the long wait, (it took myself like 20 minutes) so they tried to make survivor a little more fun and provide them with more tools to combat tactics that were previously exploited. I think they simply overcorrected a bit, gens go by too fast I think.

I wouldn’t worry too much, this is essentially a beta for “2v8” where they are constantly making adjustments based on feedback and statistics.

I know a lot of ppl enjoy it bc it's chaotic and trust me I love chaotic fun but I don't find 2v8 fun at all and definitely not worth the 20 min wait for killer. I know I have done this a few times but I cant help to compare it to a mode that OW2 just had for Halloween. The mode allows you to pick a hero and then pick from a list of passives to give that character after each round. A lot of the combos you could do would end up making the hero super OP and broken, like having Kirko throwing three explosive kunai at once or S:76 having homing Helix rockets that set ppl on fire and spawn a healing field at your feet. That was chaotic and super fun bc both sides had broken toys to play with and queue times were really short, plus matches could last 3 to 6 rounds. With 2v8 tho killer doesn't really have anything too crazy other than having a partner(even that could be a handicap if you queue solo and get a bad teammate) and matches can end really fast. Meanwhile, Survivors has some broken stuff like medic and guide BUT you only really doing the same thing you do in 1v4 just faster so it's not much more fun or different for Survivor either.

Overall I think 2v8 is overhyped by those who have friends to play Killer with and only like the mode bc it is new/limited. I don't think the mode itself is all that great or fun, just different. I don't even think it's casual bc there is a meta-forming in it with what the best combo of killers to bring and what the best classes survivors can use to rush through a match. So the mode can and will easily become just as sweaty as normal 1v4.

There's not even good chases. I am looping huntress and all of a sudden behind me I hear "ding ding". Boom I get smacked by the second killer. About one in ever 10 chases I have done have been solo chase. It's not fun being looped by 2 killers.

2v8 would have been a good chance to let us relive quick scope Slinger

Also doing my first killer matches today for the tome. Survivors have gotten a lot better at playing, but I still won first two games, and then got kicked from server during the third. Been playing Wraith and he is too fast for me. I dominated my first match and got 39k points, but I think that’s because I was with a trapper so survivors were more often injured than healthy. Next two matches I seriously struggled to compensate for the speed increase and whiffed on so many swings.

Fourth game was with a Deathslinger and we were about even and had 1 hatch escape. Overall, game is more fun as a killer, but still not that fun. I feel pressed to play sweaty and not let down my teammate, and I can’t really be like “okay, you get a freebie” when I find a survivor within 10 seconds of match start, or there’s clearly an uneven matchup.

It's absolutely not killer sided. It's survivor sided for the same reasons 2v8 is. Super quick heals, super quick gens, long time to down, ridiculous loops, and weak killers. You are right, that 1v4 is unbalanced. We're a community so dedicated to balance, we're cheering on Demogorgon's nerf as we speak.

Well, they made it survivor sided to help queue times. It's expected for survivors to escape, so I would play killer only with friend, never solo.

Then I just don't care, if someone manages to escape. Well, we play Blight, Spirit so doesn't happen that often…

Also just give up on Deathsligner and Trapper, but everyone else is managable in some scenerio.

I wish they would have messed around with some more fun and creative power buffs like they did with blight's iri add-ons that one update. Imagine slinger with a 64 meter shot distance or having multiple rounds at once.
