Feeling pretty heavy event fatigue

Don't get me wrong, event game modes are awesome, I just wish they were spaced out a bit more lately. We've had Haunted by Daylight into 2v8, to be immediately followed by a killer release and the winter event shortly after.

I just want a short while to take it easy and play normal DbD with normal queue times and (relatively) normal matchmaking. All the event stuff has me burnt out to the point where I'm not even playing as much.

I normally enjoy the events but I played 2v8 just 4 times and that was 3 times too many.

I agree let some time pass before releasing another event.

If the event wasn't popular, it wouldn't be pulling players from the normal mode. You didn't see any huge queue changes in normal mode when Lights Out was in play.

Since it's the end quater of the year with 2 guarenteed, long, festive events it will feel more congested than normal. Once the xmas event goes past, it will probably be a more even pace until we hit a more cemented event like Blood Moon or the Games anniversary before returning to the October Marathon.

2v8 is the exception as it's supposdly meant to be permanent at some point, so until there done iterating on it and adding new things people want to try and see, it'll effect the queues for its breif run time, unil its full implementation.

Chaos Shuffle was well liked all around, that didn’t mess with queues at all, or nearly at all. You think that 2v8 is popular, but it requires more people. If it isn’t bringing in enough new/returning people, then is it popular? Or is it a novelty that’s splitting up the queues to a damaging degree? Look at the steam charts. If 2v8 were so popular, wouldn’t there be a noticeable bump in player numbers?

Popularity of a gamemode doesn't mean pulling in new players. It's pulling enough players that would normally be playing 1v4 to be noticeably effecting the queues. The fact it requires double the people per lobby has no standing in this since it's just effecting the number of lobbies in the gamemode rather than the number of people playing the gamemode.

I'm pretty interested in seeing the numbers personally. We COULD have a case where more people are trying to play 2v8 than the normal mode. I kinda wish they would show how many ppl are in each queue for each gamemode/role.

I sincerely hope the full implementation is its own game, not a permanent mode. I don't think we have enough people to support it as its own side mode.

I'd really rather have Chaos Shuffle as its own permanent mode. Plus if 2v8 becomes permanent, what happens to the other modes and events? How the hell is the game gonna handle THREE queues when it can't even handle 2v8?

I do have my fun with it, but once the allure of new killer's/loadouts is gone along with rewards for playing the mode it's sort of in the air if people will be heavily drawn to it as it is currently. My guess would be keeping it time limited but its appearnace more frequent yet short, 3 days every 2 weeks sort of deal as an example, minimizing the overall impact on the queues, here's hoping they have at least something planned. But i can see it never being avalible during other game modes like chaos shuffle or haunted, way easier to just have 1 alternative mode avalible at a time. Hopefully something get's announced before the third iteration makes it live.

For me, a big part of this is the class system. No agonising about the intricacies of builds or meta, just chose a class and go.

I really love the class system and think it should be an option for regular DBD, when you just want to "play a healer" or "play chase".

Or imagine if, let's say P25, unlocked a characters class for themselves and P50 for everyone else

I feel the classes would be better if at least one for Killer simply had a LITTLE generator control, because gens do be flying.

You got to consider we don't know the numbers for the console players. Which is the biggest player base. And to be honest I'm surprised they extended it, to which is a shocker to me. Since I assumed they would not based on the steam numbers. But If they extended it I'm going to assume they have their reasons. You also got to consider they probably are aware that some us have become 2v8 mains. That's some people go to mode at this point, some of us will only play the 2v8 but not the 1v4 mode, and vice-versa. So it seems to have become popular to an extent.

That's fine and all but the issue isn't the mode.

The issue is the queues. People who AREN'T as Trickstaaaaa points out, 2v8 Mains, DO NOT WANT a mode that they don't play to become something that ruins it for everyone else. Those people dislike 2v8 not because it's not fun, but because it messes with the mode they find MORE fun - and that just isn't fun at all for anyone except the 2v8 Mains who want the mode to stay because they like it.

Like, I want Chaos Shuffle to stay forever, but if it affected the queue times I'd be here telling the Devs to keep it a limited time mode, too - because I'm not selfish and I won't put my fun over everyone else's by insisting a mode I like has to stay to the exclusion of everyone else. These modes overall, while awesome for a little while, really should be used as a week or two here or there modes between events, or for a single week or so over one month, but certainly not every single month and not for multiple weeks with multiple extensions like events.

And 100% NONE of them should be permanent.

Lol… yeah I hear you and while I am not particularly fond of Wraith either, I would take Wraith any day over a Trickster, Chucky, Knight, Twins or SM!

I accidentally clicked the wrong game mode yesterday and ended up in a regular match… it was a tunnelling Hag who got a basement hook and you can pretty much guess the rest. Not fun.

Yeah, I hate always worrying about getting challenges, the rift, or some other special thing done. I just want to get on and think, "What/how do I want to play today?"

For I prefer the events like bone chill or hollowed Blight but I won't lie when their just re-skins or don't use so many gimmicks. Bone chill is fun because you jump in snowman and throw snowballs which is a nice re-skin and throwing in a small thing or two with no real upgrade or downgrade is fun. Hollowed Blight just kicking pumpkins or if go further back just grabbing Blight from weird flesh mounds was perfect. To me having all these new gimmicks and such can be a little much I don't mind 2v8 or choas shuffle once in a while but the other problem is it messes with matchmaking I noticed it a lot with 2v8 if I wanted to play someone like unknown I would have to wait an extremely long time just to get a match which might be all over the place because matchmaking has to go into overdrive because everyone is playing 2v8. I like game modes but constant games modes can be a little fatiguing.
