Should 2v8 be Killer or Survivor sided?
Comments

I mean, I just think that good game design is balancing it for both sides…

Survivor
If it had to favor one side, could you pick?

Killer
It should be balanced, but if must to choose, its killer side, 8 minute games in killer side mode is better than a 3 minute games in gen rush

Survivor
Definately should be survivor sided, right now I would say it almost in perfect place. Why?
1. Queues. It's probably the only way to find additional 4 survivors to build a match.
2. MMR doesn't exist here. I mean, MMR already works so bad to the point it almost doesn't exist, but in 2v8 you can see this little difference which MMR creates. You are in the team with and against potatoes almost every match.
3. I think it also leaves a room for killers be fun with all buffs.
4. Let survivors who don't want to learn the game feel like a winners more often.
5. This mode feels really chaotic and I don't want to see everything be balanced here.2 -
4. Let survivors who don't want to learn the game feel like a winners more often.
Could this also not apply to Killers who are also new? Or is just new Survivors should just get given free wins without needing to learn anything?
I personally don't believe anyone should get to win matches with next to no experience as it means if they see a victory more than loss they won't be incentivised to learn anything2 -
Survivor

I completely agree, but there is base game for it. If 2v8 was the base game, honestly, there wouldn't be much to learn. Much less skill and knowledge is required here to win. I mean, this is what most survivors want: not to invest a lot and win more regardless of their skill, level of knowledge and experience. Why not let most of the players have the opportunity to feel this fresh air for them?
And I respect your question, because I hate this hypocrisy towards new killer players, because pretty much always by "new player" we mean "poor little survivor player" and never think about new killer players, but it's fair at some point. Because game is killer sided in low level and new survivor needs to learn slightly more than new killer player.
Game exists for 8 years and more than half of survivors barely understand what they are playing at, so, at this point, it's pointless to expect from every Sable player with 3k hours that she will begin to look behind while running, at 4k hours, so why just don't give them a sweet spot to exist?3 -
Survivor
It should be slightly survivor sided. The queues would be terrible if it swinged heavily towards killer.
Not much, though. I don't want it to become the opposite problem.

Survivor
Slightly survivor sided.
The last thing that should happen is to make it killer sided and make the queue time problem even worse.

It should be non-permanent and not affect the queue times, I don't care what-sided it is.
Ideally, neither. Balanced.

Killer
The ideal kill-rate for normal games is ~2.8 - a survival rate of ~1.2.
You want it to be often that one survivor gets out, and a bit tricky to get out with two, and very difficult to escape with 3 or more.Doubling the aspect means that kill rates in 2v8 should be ~5.6.
You want it to be often that two survivors get out, tricky for four to escape, and very difficult to see five or more get out alive.
What we see in these volatile, violent, and hilarious matches is a strange disparity.
Unlike in basic modes where numbers can be tweaked and interactions masterfully designed to gently bring matches closer to that coveted average of 2.8 kill rate - the changes in Killer powers, skill, teamwork, survivor efficiency, and many more aspects mean that lots of matches in the 2v8 mode will either end with all the survivors dying horribly, or escaping with little issue.
To be clear, I don't think that the game mode should be "sided" at any rate. The mode should be balanced to give all participating players a feeling of fun, empowerment, and fairness.
The ideal escape rate would be ~2.4, which means 2-3 players out of 8 would be the only ones lucky enough to see the inside of an exit gate escape area.
Between the abilities, teamwork, pallets, larger map, and wider generator spread - survivors have lots of opportunities to get out. Killers are generally buffed (look at the crazy Wraith uncloak bug!) And so to counteract these additions to the game, Survivors must feel that the power of both Killers is potent enough to greatly threaten their chances to escape. Survivors that get into a match should expect a 32% chance to live, and Killers should expect to slay 68% of the others - for this reason I say 'Killer Sided', although I wish there was an option for it to say "Equally balanced"
