I sometimes get in games where everyone in solo que plays well too. That doesnt change the fact if those same players had comms they would be even better though. I do believe Bhvr. fixing matchmaking could go a long way but either way the game is still unbalanced in favor of swf. (Also what are the chances of Bhvr. ever fixing matchmaking at this point?)

Why should we just accept that comms will always have an advantage and do nothing to try to bridge the gap? Even if they have "enough" info more info would make them closer to swf. Even if we can never completely change the disparity we should get as close as we can. Also what makes you think Bhvr. will ever fix matchmaking lol?

Oh wonderful, we're back to ye olde 'it's not the quitters fault for quitting and ruining games, it's the GAME's fault' silliness.
If someone quits because they cannot freely poop on the match for 4 others, the game is better off without them. That's like saying banning hackers will make them quit.

There is a reason that most games penalize leavers harshly. All suiciding is, is DCing with no penalty.
People whined about 'OMG the game isn't balanced I shouldn't be punished for DCing' when the DC penalty came back too.
Again - the amount of suicides I see don't even slightly correspond to what killer I'm playing. It's purely a certain kind of person that will not play the match out unless they will escape.

The 60/40 split does not mean you will lose exactly 60% of your matches. That was my point from the start, and if you refuse to take the advice and keep doomposting, have fun being miserable I guess.
Honestly I don't even understand how you pulled that from the comment you quoted. It was quite literally about a character who is extremely casual due to their weak matchups. Part of what made the upset so wild is that he was using the 17th ranked character in the game (out of 19.)

Do you honestly think dbd is just like any other game and that the ability to go next on hook isnt being kept in the game by Bhvr. for a very specific reason? If you really think that and that "punishing" players for trying to go next would actually help the game in any way then it just shows how deluded you are about the state of the game in general and that its pointless for me to be discussing it with you. Saying "yes all survivors who have ever left a game should quit and the game will be better off" is almost like saying the game would be better off with no survivor players at all.

No one ever said that every players only escapes 40% of their games. The point is solo survivor is in a bad and unfair state, the kill/ escape rate is only one indication of that, not the be and end all. I guess i dont really understand the relevence of your sf reference at all but thats probably because I dont play that game and know nothing about it.

You need to account for new game releases, which will always take away from DbD's playerbase, otherwise you just come across disingenous or unprepared for the discussion at hand.
PoE2 just launched their Early Access and have over 500k players logging on each day (much higher across multiple platforms). Of course thats going to drive a lot of DbD players to put the game on hold, for something new & addicting.
I will say, I have not launched the game in over 2 weeks due to PoE2 & just overall having fun/taking my time up in other games/activities.
But yea DbD sucks. In general. So we'll agree there. :)

Yes. It's in because getting rid of it would be work and BHVR does stuff at a glacial pace. Would require some perks to be redesigned.
Question - should there be a DC penalty? If so, then there is no reason not to want suicides removed aside from pure contrariness.
Also, stop. You're getting straw all over the place. If you can't argue your point without putting words in my mouth, your point wasn't that good to begin with.

so, we are having soloQ at such an "unfair" state, but the main reasons for it are being gatekept by the same people who play it so often:
- giving up on hooks/DCing: community is constantly against punishing this kind of griefing and acting like people have full rights to give up if they don't like the match they are playing. Why is it okay to force an early 3v1 onto your teammates, but when killer does it, it's toxic and unfair?
- SBMM: community is constantly crying about SBMM and how it "ruined" dbd. In full honesty, in it's current state, we can even say that SBMM doesn't exist at all. Community wanted nonexistent SBMM, BHVR listened. This is what you have, random low hour players being in veteran lobbies thanks to SBMM that basically doesn't exist.
- dbd community trying to present griefing playstyles as something fun (flashlight squads that don't touch gens at all and similar things) while presenting people that actually play the game as sweats and tryhards. Why are we even trying to complain about balance if individual goals inside of this community are vastly different?

With old multiplayer games like dbd it's less about how dbd is going at the moment and more about what else has recently released.

Sure, and that exists in DbD regardless of the larger balance concepts. Off meta perks or specializing in weaker killers still exists. Whatever the overall kill rate was, that would remain true.
The point is that seeing a 60/40 doesn't mean you already lost, or that you
will
lose 60% of your matches.
Again, sure, that's true, but I don't know how you have a balance discussion without factoring those numbers in. At an extreme it sounds like 'let's just not worry about balancing at all because some players get different results'. And while I think worrying about balancing too much is a problem and is not even close to the be all, end all, of game design, its absolutely something that should come up.

That wasn't my intention, I'm not saying it should be ignored in balance discussions outright. My point again was that people using those numbers as an excuse to give up or make statements like
"wins majority of games by default."
are gross misuses of a statistic like that. I wouldn't feel the need to say anything about it if it wasn't continuously used to keep claiming fixed outcomes and self pity. Again, its about misusing statistics in a misleading way to exaggerate any given player's chances in a match. It has nothing to do with the game's current balance (or my stance on said balance,) its literally about mindfulness and trying to avoid the self sabotage that seems to run rampant in this game's community. Hope that makes things a bit more clear.

I have to agree with Pulsar on this. I do believe FNAF will crush the all time high #'s on every platform, but once people realize the very stale and repetitive nature of DBD itself, those #'s will go right back down. I think a huge part of this is that the Survivor side of the game which most people try out first is just boring. I really hope they try to diversify Survivors eventually sort of like Operators in Rainbow 6 Siege. The Survivor side of the game is the one that most people play overall and unfortunately there is much less to that side than Killer. The Killer side is great in terms of depth and replay value. The Killer Powers beings so different and unique is what nails it.
I also don't think Survivor being the more boring side of DBD is really debatable seeing as how the game tends to lose a good amount of people awhile after big licensed content is brought into the game. Majority of those people leaving are people who don't like the far too simple nature of Survivor and are too intimidated to play Killer I'd say. 0 depth on the Survivor side.

I am not wrong just because you disagree with me. Truth doesn't care about your opinion, and the truth is Survivors quit for the same reasons Killers quit… because it wasn't fun.

I really feel like Dead By Daylight is an awesome game with a lot of potential. It has some great characters, lots of space to add licences and draw in more fans from other fandoms. But the game is hampered by its limited premise, four survivors doing generators to escape killer. In order to keep that premise interesting, things need to be added to the game on a continuous basis. And I don't mean just characters or cosmetics. I mean a lot of new maps. New objectives. New things both killers and survivors can do. New kinds of items and weapons. More events.
Some people may not like these kinds of changes or see them as part of DBD, but I'm a big fan of the questionnaire DBD did where they asked what kinds of things they wanted in the game and they added stuff like lobby customization and guardian pets. Even if the game contains has stuff like slugging or camping or survivors t bagging every chance they get, I think adding things to the game that people enjoy might offset that kind of stuff. Making things more fun in some areas will make the kind of meh stuff easier to overlook.

Honestly, if numbers are plummeting, it's probably because of all thebugs in the game. Just my opinion, but dbd is the only live service game I've played that had bugs go on for MONTHS, even years before being addressed. Not to mention a lot of bug reports go unheard or unanswered. Idk if it's cause the devs aren't concerned about it, or their team doesn't have the resources or people to look into these issues. Iirc, they let go a BUNCH of good people who could've helped in fixing the million bugs in the game. Ik many people who quit or taken a long break cause their favorite killer is insanely bugged. So there's that

The game isn't dying, and player counts aren't plummeting. The drops aren't a mass exodus, they're regression to the mean, which has been pretty static for years.
Are they all the same players? No, people are leaving, and people are coming in. That's just the churn that has become normal. It'd be nice if the games wrinkles got sorted and the mean grew over time, but it's not dying. It seems like every other week someone is talking about how all the survs are leaving and the game is dying, a refrain that's almost as old as the game itself. Particularly since 6.1.0.
And the yeah, the game is buggy af, but it always has been and always will be; it's build on spaghetti code. Just like it will always be imbalanced.
