Will dbd suffer witen GTA VI is released

Firstly happy new year to one and all and may 2025 bring you peace and good health.

Obviously there isn't a release date yet but when GTA VI does hit the market I think it's inevitable a lot of games including dbd will take a player hit.

I for one will probably drop everything for the first month at least to play GTA VI.

It makes me wonder if the devs have some big event or licence in the background to try to combat the release of probably the most anticipated and eagerly awaited game in recent memory?

Or will it be a case of take the player hit until the initial surge subsides or have they even gave it some thought?

    I doubt it no.

It is not unlikely that playercount will drop. And I think this will mainly impact SWFs a bit more (if 4 people regularly play together and 2 or 3 want to play GTA6, you will not see the remaining ones in DBD being Solo/2 man SWF).

But usually this is only for a short time. Same happened when Elden Ring released and probably other games as well. But this is nothing which only affects DBD and it is also nothing which will really have a long-lasting impact on DBD.

They aren't in any way similar so no. I don't think so.

Reminds me of when people said same- if not more about Elden Ring back when it came out.

Is the new GTA really coming out soon? I'm not a fan of the series, so I genuinely don't know.

I kinda expected to be reading the next Song of Ice and Fire book before GTA 6 was released, it's been in development for that long. I mean, Nintendo even made two giant open world Zelda games within the same development period.

While I'm sure most games will take a player count hit when it finally drops, it probably won't be a huge one for DBD.

Will it suffer? Yes. Absolutely. For a few days many people will play GTA VI instead of DBD, so BHVR will sell less Feng skins. We've seen that happen before with many highly awaited games. But eventually these players come back to DBD. They always do.

No. It's a different player base, there is some overlap maybe but people who play that wont stop playing this as you can still play more than one game regularly

There is almost no overlap between the 2 games. They can function independently.
