Dbd’s hard mode is just switch.
The frames are terrible, your inputs are ever so slightly delayed, ping is high for everyone, and good luck playing a ranged charecter cause aiming with switch is one of the hardest things I’ve tried doing.
It’s also a kick in the balls cause the graphics are eh to be kind. Words on shirts are illegible and skins don’t look near as good as other consoles.

The Switch itself is a device that already struggles, it's an issue beyond just DBD, the hardware on it isnt the best.
Nintendo did announce the Switch 2, which seems to be using hardware that is closer to a halfway decent PC, but Idk how much that will really solve tbh, since DBD's optimization on Switch is pretty bad.

Yup.
I've been complaining about this for years. All we got is less-than-what-was-advertised cross-progression for our money and patience while they left optimization in the toilet. We got way, way less than what everyone else got and we paid at least as much.

Just seems like they've accepted that it is what it is.
I imagine they'll keep having machines brute force it instead of actually optimizing it.

That's what I assume, too. It's just annoying. There are definitely things they could do to help console players, like more controller settings and lessening/downgrading the particle and lighting effects. Nope, seems like they rely on the newer machines to brute force the code and then hope the next ones will be out before the problems become game-breaking.

I find the perfomance to be mostly "OK" in handheld mode on my Switch Lite, but pretty terrible when playing docked on my regular Switch. And by OK I just mean that the frame rate is a stable 30fps for the most part. Survivor fairs a little better than Killer on both Switches but they're still pretty rough experiences overall.
I always have a little chuckle to myself whenever I see a streamer claim to be doing a "hardcore" Killer or Survivor challenge. They don't know harcore until they've tried playing either role on the Switch. I know it's commonly accepted that Solo Q is the hardest mode to play in this game, but I think it's more like playing Killer on Switch, then playing Solo Q Survivor on Switch, then Solo Q on all the other platforms.
I really hope the Switch 2 is a lot better performance wise.

I honestly expect the Switch version to be phased out in like 2 years tops, especially with the successor on the way sometime this year.
It was always and especially now is getting the short end of the stick in terms of optimization and playability. It's understandable that BHVR works on such strict scheduling and that this is a lower end secondary version of the game, but that isn't an excuse for the frankly abysmal showings they charge a premium for to play the Switch version.
In retrospect, it would've been kinda cool if Switch DbD was almost like a DbD lite, getting major content drops like chapters and maps but ignoring the harder to work in and clunky stuff like battle pass, skin shops, tomes, bloodwebs and just focused on making the core gameplay as smooth as it could be.

I played on Switch for over 2 years. When you don't know any better it's fine. Once I got a PS5 though I couldn't go back to Switch. Mostly because of the camera tbh, even on 100% sensitivity it was really slow. I'm keen to see how the Switch 2 performs though. I got a PS Pro to play on when travelling etc but unfortunately DBD doesn't play that well on it so I'm hopeful the Switch 2 is more of an improvement.

I played over 5,000 hours on Nintendo Switch until Cross-progression arrived and I bought a PlayStation 5 just for this game.
Hopefully these two pieces of advice will help you as they certainly did for me:
Number 1:
In the DBD main menu, press + and go to Graphics. Turn ON FSR and set FSR Sharpness to 100% (see image below)
This helps tremendously, specifically on the 4-man main Gen at Shelter Woods and the 3-man Gen in the front of the main building on the Alien map.
It was almost impossible for me to hit even a Good Skill Check on those Generators until this feature was released.
Number 2:
Purchase the officially licensed LAN Adapter:
I hope this helps you at least a little.
