Can You Please Fix Flashbang/Firecracker Audio?
Im actually really, really tired of losing hooks because the game just decides to not play the audio of Flashbangs/Firecrackers being dropped, so I get instantly blinded while going to a hook or going around a corner with basically no counterplay whatsoever.
And it's not even a case of "well, maybe I need to listen harder", it just outright doesnt make the dropping noise sometimes. It makes no sense.
Worst part is that I bring it up to other people, and it feels like Im being gaslit because people are acting like it's normal and fine when it very clearly isnt. This has been an issue for months and months, and it has yet to be fixed.
Like please. Im tired. :(

same here. I’ve had so many times where I’m carrying a survivor to a hook, don’t see or hear anyone around me, then all of a sudden blinded with no sound of a flashbang or firecrackers. Literally nothing I can do. Apparently BHVR are fine with this because like you said they’ve done nothing about it for months.

Sadly, I think that if BHVR could’ve fixed the audio issues by now, they would have. They even claimed that they did fix it…

While they're at it fix dropping a flashbang inside a killers model. Stupid how you can be looking at a wall and still get blinded by it.

doesn’t even have to be in your model, I’ve had survivors drop the flashbang right next to me on the right or left side while im facing a wall and since the blast radius is like a bubble I still get blinded.

Sound issues? In this game?

Agreed

and while you're on it, make it so it doesn't blind you when they explode at your back...

fhe funniest I've had have been:
1) when I could hear a sable crying/hurt the entire match, even when she wasnt near me or she wasnt hurt
2) the sound of a survivor clicking their flashlight every time I picked up a survivor as huntress... that lasted for a few days
3) the time I was hearing the sound of the open hatch the entire match

They recently fixed this bug twice. It broke….again. :(

Its been perma lightborn on every killer for me chief
2 -
This is why I always run Lightborn on every Killer
BHVR refuses to fix the problem, so I make it not a problem anymore

they didn't actually even fix it at all, even though they mentioned it in patch notes

You have to understand, those blades of grass are extremely soundproof.

I'm not gonna lie I'm running Lightborn in most of my games now. It's a breath of fresh air.

This content has been removed.

They did. For a brief moment it was working. It just didn’t last long. I was shocked when I had some games I actually heard the flash bang hit the ground.

Yup. I'm joking, but there have been multiple audio issues in the game's life caused by sound emitters being blocked by things they shouldn't be, so it really wouldn't surprise me if there was some truth in the joke.

The audio on this game has got worser an worser over the years.

Flashbang is still broken. Flashbangs at a small distance not making any sounds.. at all. Very inconsistent audio bugs currently with survivors and their interactions.

It's a killer issue, so not getting fixed.

I dont even think it is that. There have been bugs plaguing the game on both sides that have been in the game for months that have yet to be fixed.
BHVR is way too focused on trying to release new content which results in them not only adding more issues to fix, but it shorthands their ability to fix things since their resources are moved elsewhere.

While you're definitely not wrong, sound bugs and deliberate bad audio balancing have been a plague on the killer side especially for a very long time. Its always moving from one bug to the next, while changes to things like chase music and louder hook screams are designed purposely to impede the killer role. Whenever there's another sound bug that lasts for months, it seems to get replaced with another one not long after it gets fixed. Sound occlusion seems to be something they especially have trouble with, and flashbangs are just another on the list from things like footsteps, pain sounds, slugs being silent, and other similar issues. It wouldn't be as bad if they didn't deliberately make the audio worse for the killer role every now and then, or they fixed the issues more effectively and/or more quickly. Bonus if they learn from them to not have them pop up again in a different form.
Edit: Sound occlusion issues actually have affected survivors multiple times in the past as well, I remember you could pan the camera around and have sounds vanish as the PoV put nearly anything between them. Instead of creating the muffled effect they'd just fall completely silent. Thankfully it hasn't been as much of an issue more recently in my experience at least.

That's a separate problem.
One thing that could affect it is the FOV, since it works in an odd way and just scooches your camera back instead of actually increasing it. And since it makes your camera go back a bit, it may be creating space it shouldn't.

I think they should expand on their team if they haven't already. The large amount of layoffs last summer didn't help. I think it was over 80 people? Not sure….But the game needs more consistent patches. Less content. The new engine hasn't been kind to dbd. The bugs have been awful. Even when they get fixed they are just brought back.
I read over the patches notes to see what bugs were fixed and several that they JUST fixed are ALREADY back in the game second day after a patch. Its wild.
Its not BHVRS fault but this game needs to make some serious choices.
Either more consistent patches to keep up with everything in the updates OR they need to build DBD2 and just optimize everything to redo the code. Its so old.

"The sound of a survivor clicking their flashlight when you pickup"
I think that's just PTSD bro4 -
give it 2 years if we're lucky

Run lightborn. They aren't going to fix it, this has been an ongoing topic for ever. Only solution exists right now, also why they probably won't fix it.
