How to play 2v8
- Don't be a coward
- Play with Headphones so you can hear the gens that are being done.
- Do Gens as a priority, I am talking to you medics, Scouts and Escapist)
- If you are not doing Gens makes sure that you are being a distraction for those players doing Gens. Make vault noise far away from incomplete Generators so the killer can waste time looking for you.
- If you are a guide, start different generators so the other visually blind survivors can at least hear the gens and go to complete it.
- Take a hit or hook state if you see someone else is on their final hook.

7. It's not that serious lol

The headphones thing is more widespread than you'd think.
Players sitting on a crusty couch across from an ancient TV and using that TV's speakers is not unusual. Contrast that with the more serious gamers hunched 4 inches from a very nice monitor with their tourny mouse cranked up to 21000 sporting a $240 headset that can hear aliens farting on Mars. The very definition of casual vs. competitive.
I bet I'd actually get something out of Spirit if I was using a decent headset! 🤣

Oh, let me add one!
8. Open every chest you see in the hope of finding a beamer instead of another brown toolbox.
Honestly though, most people see this as a chill, no pressure, play however you want to mode. Please can we keep it that way?

I see it is challenge finishing simulator.
Any challenges for escapes, body blocks, hiding, chests, gen progress are so much easier to do in 2v8…1 -
I have a high end gaming PC with an array of great peripherals, but I've spent about 98% of my 6K hours in DBD playing on PlayStation, from my couch, 10 feet from my TV, with no headphones, most of the time with lots of background noise, lol.
While I absolutely can dial it in and sweat, generally it's just that kind of game to me, a plop down and kick my feet up after work and decompress kind of casual game. And 2v8 is the highest (or lowest?) form of that casual vibe.
Videos have been made about this, but I think most people in places like this forum assume everyone playing the game have a similar level of investment, but the overwhelming majority of players are really, really casual. And no matter how good you are, these people are in your matches. Consistently.
Which is why I can't wrap my head fully around why people take DBD so seriously. I mean we're in a thread where someone is trying to dictate optimal play in a mode essentially designed to be total mindless chaos.

That's why I appreciate the headphone jack in my PS5 controller. I can sit comfortably while still using my headset. Was kind of an issue when I wanted to play my switch games on the dock. I had to use like a 10 ft long wired headset.

It's supposed to be a casual experience but you won't find it funny if you get punished for someone else's "casual" play style.
Some healing you and misses a skill check now the kill comes and tunnels you that just got off the hook… did I hear you say, you should run DS?

Theres a difference between being casual and making mistakes

In 6K hours (half or more of that in solo queue) I've paid for more of other people's mistakes than I can count. I just don't care enough to dwell on it beyond that moment.
It's a sloppy, imprecise and imbalanced game. And none of us should forget others have paid for our dumb crap at some point.

One thing i notice at the start of each round, the survivors pile up on the first generators they see hoping to get them done before the killer knows which one they are on. And then u get the players who arent on generators actively avoiding being seen by the killers. The killers need to be distracted right away by atleast 1 or 2 people to pull them away from the team otherwise they barrell into the people on generators, all hell breaks loose, half the team goes down and the other half go on rescue duty then 0 gens get done and all the killers have to do is 180 and go for the cages they just made and then they get so much pressure that maybe 1 person is actively trying to do gens. Meanwhile if someone distracts them right away even if its less than a minute you could buy the team 2-4 generators and a chance to evenly spread out.
