Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

8k at 8 gens?

Has anyone seen this? I haven't, or even close. Even in games where the killers were quite good (and coordinated), and the survs were a hot mess, I've not seen an 8K with any more than 5 gens left up.

Haven't seen that yet but not overly surprised to hear it happens. In most of my games there's only a certain number of survivors who actually touch gens. Once we (I include myself in that) are dead, you spectate the game just start to stagnate. It's not every game but definitely a number of them. I just had a longer than usual 2v8 game where there were 6 of us left and 4 gens, and only myself and a Nicolas Cage were touching gens at all. The killers were constantly patrolling the gens so we kept moving around the map behind them, and every gen left hadn't been touched after the killers had kicked away whatever progress we had done. The other 4 survivors literally weren't touching anything. The game just dragged, I felt bad for the killers after we died.

I think it's pretty common to have only a few survs doing gens, as there's no matchmaking and the potatoes are probably all freaked out by being in the terror radius all the time. Lots of newer players who just shut down and immerse if the killer is anywhere near and/or just expect everyone else to carry them.

It's like a group project in school.

But even then, if even 4-5 survs are halfway decent, there's a very good chance most or all of the gens are getting done. If 6+ pf the survs are even pretty good, the killers are probably getting pantsed.

It's a pretty surv sided mode, imo.

"if even 4-5 survs are halfway decent, there's a very good chance most or all of the gens are getting done"

Then I guess your lobby had no decent players?

In my OP I was saying I've never seen an 8K at 8 gens (or even close), and was curious if anyone had seen it.

Even when my team was a total disaster and I played badly I haven't seen it.

Here's a video from my friend Wesker doing this.
Sadly the audio is desynched. It's a beta feature of Steam for now, so these desynchs happen sometimes.

He also said that he too played a match were the survs were SO BAD that he died on 1st hook and it ended with all survs killed without a single gen completed.

Well, there it is, lol. I was wondering if it was even possible.

I've also been on teams of some almost comically bad survs and still never saw anything close to an 8K at 8 gens, which is what got me thinking about it.

He's playing 2v8 as killer like crazy and I mean A LOT of matches indeed everyday, so the minimal possibility to get an 8K with 8 gens happened.😄

Ah OK. So it was a hypothetical question. Well as seen above, it's definitely possible!

I've seen a few games with 8ks at 6+ gens. It's more of an expression of hitting two really coordinated/skilled killers than the survivors. It also involves a bit of luck in getting the survivors boxed in early on.

But with the way the catch up mechanic works, it is very rare.

That's basically impossible. Because the gen speed up/slow down mechanic in 2v8 is such good design (not), the survivors are gonna be flying on those gens the moment a few cages are made.

most of my 2v8 matches have been survivor wins but I was in one where both of the killers were extremely good and they were definitely coordinating on comms. I thought maybe I would finally see an 8k with zero gens done, but due to the comeback mechanic somebody finished a gen when most survivors were already dead. I think everyone basically just gave up after the first few minutes in that one and started waiting for hatches to spawn

Yeah, I've been in a few games where the killers were really good and coordinated and I thought we might get shut out but due to the catch up at least 2-3 gens always popped at some point.

I think the only way is if the survs are basically all potatoes and just folded (stopped trying to do gens).

My Wraith and a random Wesker managed an 8k with 6 gens left. Thats the best I've seen in my matches.

Got so bored of 2v8 survivor, I was playing Football Manager and loading into killer matches at the same time!

I can actually see a Killer bot capable of this.

I had a Wesker bot load in after 3 gens popped and was like "7 minutes is all I have to spare..." and slaughtered everybody within less than 2 generators.

I almost wish I could have let myself be taken over so I could partake in the machine uprising

Comeback mechanics are SO DAMN STUPID in EVERY game they exist.
The winner gets punished for winning.

I've only seen it happened once. And it was caused by me, playing as trapper. So basically on the raccoon city map I've always used this strategy of locking down a side of the map. I put my traps on all the chokepoints on the left side of the map, to block the survivors from entering that side. So it was me and a random spirit, and I put my traps to block the left side and the spirt downed 6 survivors, and the cages all spawned on the left side of the map. The other two couldn't rescue them and they got downed. They got 0 gens done, that was the only 8k at 8 gens I ever seen on this mode. But mind you this was luck, and probably bad survivors, since they all spawned on the right side. I used to use this strategy back then before the map got split it. I would try to three gen them on a side of the map and block it by using traps. But naturally I doubt survivors won't get at least 1 gen done in this mode. This was just pure luck for me.
