Pickup items on vault locations

Does anyone else experience this? You are trying to vault a pallet or window while in chase but you end up picking up someone's left item from the floor making the killer hit you.

I think you should be walking or stationary to pick up items.

Yeah that is real annoying. At the same time too it also is the question of why on earth a person would leave their item by a window/pallet instead of dropping it anywhere else. Do not get me started also on why bvhr puts gens/lockers by window vaults causing you to interact with them instead of the window.

Sometimes things like franklins demise, dramaturgy etc but the issue with the picking up when running can be fix by the developers

I have a tendency to mash the vault button way before I need to, so I often end up trying to do a gen or a totem while in chase as well (especially that totem on RPD under the desk by the little office window. I make cleansing it the first thing I do on that map).

Lockers I understand because of interactions with certain perks, but it should be impossible to interact with totems & gens while running (especially since you can't tap a gen in chase anymore). I know it's partially my own fault for being impatient, but it's still very annoying.

Yes am guilty of button mashing too when attempting to vault (specially when trying to jump outside shack window) XD. Hopefully maybe they consider that….but maybe its not too complaint about alot.

Oh yes, those annoying little lockers right next to the vaults.

I have different button presses when it comes to picking up an item and dropping it (respectfully). I don't think I have had an issue where I vault and accidentally pick up an item, lol.

I think I have seen it before, but it's mostly the lockers that I find that are an issue or even Pinhead chains (console users lol).

Nope, that's an issue for controller players who haven't changed binds isn't it?

The only thing you should be getting caught by is the lockers near vaults as those do share a button.

Cannot stand it when the game prioritises an 9ff camera locker instead of a vault, that has cost me a few times. Items I haven't had much of a problem with

Sometimes won't even be directly looking at it and the survivor will go into the locker.

I've tried using Deception and it ruins it a little to have two lockers right next to each other. I'll Deception one locker and my character jumps into the other. I wish Behavior made Deception not be tied to the button where you enter a locker, I'd use it more for sure.

not only have I experienced that, I’ve also experienced putting my item down when I’m meant to vault.

It took me a while to learn to avoid problems with that same button mashing. I got vacuumed into lockers in various shacks and on RPD for a while :/

There's a lot of interactions that always favor the other side. Like when Victor is literally on top of a slug or a pallet, and the survivor never has a conflict of prompts. They always kick him through all else. But then you go to Pinhead, and the "break chains" interaction is the same as the "vault pallet" interaction with survivor (at least on console), which often leads to free downs for the killer. This feels like trying to heal by a pallet, like why are these still conflicting after all these years? Fix your game.

Very great response, Daniel. They just need to add more button prompts or separate them, especially in the case of perks that counteract different actions. I don't remember if I have problems with Pinhead specifically. 🤔

I switched my vaulting button to square and my healing is still R1, so that I can still heal and pick up survivors without having an oopsie like other console players.

I have it set where my exhaustion is x, my other ability button is circle, and my drop item is triangle. A bit of a lot of changing on my end, but I barely drop my item anyways and triangle is out of place, out of mind for me. Crouch is hitting my R3 stick in, but once I get the Dualsense Edge and the paddles I'll definitely switch my crouch to the back pedals! 😊

Just need to mess around with button configurations, but once you changing the healing and vault button you will find yourself one step closer to a PC player and avoid those general mishaps!
