Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

What's the point of new Knockout?

At first I figured it might be handy on killers like Bubba or Demo who's powers can quickly break pallets... until I learned it doesn't even work if the pallet is broken. When would this perk actually be useful?

I’ve said this a few times but the rework is awful for two reasons: firstly because loops are so unsafe now it’s going to further annoy survivors in a situation that’s already contentious and killers won’t gain any real value from it. Secondly, because it’s no longer in the spirit of the perk.

I’d have changed it as follows:

-remove the block to aura reading which is the part of the perk that is used in’ a toxic way.
-if a survivor is downed they cannot health themselves for 10/15/20 seconds due to being unconscious.
    - if another player wants to heal a survivor who has been downed they must first complete a ‘wake up’ action to bring them round before healing.

This way it’s in the spirit of the original perk, close by survivors cannot just ‘hop on’ healing in the killers face and the toxic element is gone.

It doesn't work if the pallet is broken? So it turns off? If that's how it works the perk might need some help from Dissolution or something like Iri Button maybe

The point is they needed to nerf it to fix slugging so they just slapped a random garbage effect on it to make it unusable. It’s not even D Tier. Good on Clown and Freddy, that’s it. One of the worst perk reworks I have ever seen.

As a Pig main, Im sadly used to seeing 4-8 pre drops each match. This perk, depending on the pallet could help with that.

Yeah, they should really keep it as is. It was a very interesting, unique effect. No other perks recovery rate.

It is my hope they'll see sense and not gut this excellent perk.

To directly answer the qurstion, it counters pre-dropping and holding W. There are many killers where a survivor would not want to risk looping (most involve one-shotting or an excess of speed), so by using this perk, they would very quickly find themselves at a disadvantage. There are many garbage pallets with the newer tiles that would spell death for a survivor if a killer were to use this perk.

To indirectly answer the question, The point of new Knockout is to support the new philosophy on slugging.

Funnily enough this perk is used extremely infrequently in matches, but when it is used, it is mostly to slug all 4 survivors consecutively. Blame those who wish to make others miserable for this perk change, for where someone can find a way to abuse it, there WILL be someone to abuse it. And that goes for both sides.

I do feel bad for those who use stealth killers and can no longer disguise their location when they down someone, that was a cool use-case for this. Perhaps they can bake this into some killers that are meant to be stealthy and cant zoom across the map downing everyone?

Maybe it was made by a developer who didn't know that Bubba and others have the ability to break the pallet. That's how bad it is.

I feel like it didn't need an entire rework, a perk that helps with slugging for pressure is fine, but one that helps with 4 man slugging is not.

The ideal rework would be to have all effects be on a timer (hiding the aura included or completely removed from the perk).

it doesn’t matter, you need to run the 4 meta perks or lose all gens in 5 minutes. That’s how BH wants it to be.

Automatically, which means you'd funnel the survivor to loop that dropped pallet with no concern of breaking because they either go down before the vault with the help of the slow, or soon after the vault at which point Knockout would have done it's job

    That's what I was thinking

the point of new knockout is to stop people from running knockout

If the pallet is broken, there's no slow.

Edit, nvm... i get what your saying

It’s only the blindness part of it that’s a problem, could’ve just made it work like Noed ,after a certain time the radius increases so that it doesn’t shaft solos.

The point of new Knock Out is, really, to get rid of Knock Out. I think this is a shame, especially because I see KO as one of Bubba's more thematic perks, likely his most thematic. It plays into how the cast of the movie keeps trying to go further into the Sawyer's home to save their friends, running into danger because they lack necessary information.

(BBQ USED to have some thematic relevance, when it had a BP bonus to represent eating survivors after the trial, but now it's simply an aura reading perk and not one that fits. Bubba is really at an advantage because TCM takes place in HIS home, because survivors are out of place. Why would he know about people who are far away to go all the way out of his territory for them?)

KO could have been fine if it was just changed to not only work against SoloQ players. Instead BHVR's just sort of jumped the gun and gotten rid of the perk entirely, and replaced it with nothing.

We've got so many perks in the game that I think it's simply a case of them not knowing what else to give us anymore. I do think this perk at least will give some value when against pre-dropping, which is a common complaint in this game.

You gotta think though... what kind of pallets are you working with that gets predropped and NOT broken? Typically if ppl are predropping a pallet, it's because it's pretty safe.

The point was to get rid of it, not really to bring new meta perk for killers.

How will it annoy survivors if killer doesn't get anything from it?
