I'm becoming worse player
Hello.
I used to be a good player, not the best but definitely better than what I'm now. The more time passes, the more I feel a decline in my skill. I could name a few things. My looping is just average. Sometimes I can run a killer for a while but that's because the player isn't that good. At least that's what I feel is happening. When I go against someone who is clearly a good player, I lose very quickly. It doesn't matter what killer it is, even if I try my best I keep making many mistakes. It's like my reactions got too slow. Another thing is my "game sense'? I make a lot mistakes by not making right decisions if that makes any sense. This didn't used to be a thing. Maybe I'm just loosing the pasion for the game or maybe I'm just getting old. It is what it is I guess.

It happens in any game to be honest. I used to be pretty decent in Overwatch in the early years, but now I'm just washed up and can't aim for crap. I still play the game occasionally but yeah I try not to take pvp games as seriously anymore. Take breaks, play other things in-between, but don't let a single game dictate your enjoyment.

Getting old affects your reaction time but I think it's probably matchmaking and map changes over the years. It also depends how much you play.
Don't fret too much. You can watch experienced survivors and how they run tiles if you want but honestly you don't have to do things like that if you don't want to. Play how you feel like playing and however you do it's fine.

The game has changed alot. Things that used to feel not as common, now are. Things like PING hits, more anti-loop killers, nerfs to distortion so people are found quicker, and now with spawning all in the same place it's hard to get pressure early with gens. So don't worry, what you're experiencing is normal. The game is definitely not the same as it used to be. All killrates are over 50%. As a survivor, you're intended and expected to lose more then you win. Even the best players in top MMR, top 5% of players in the World, including that crazy Swat team SWF win less than 50% of the time. Don't beat yourself up.

there are many factors that could be affecting you, how long have you been playing? Maps and tile arrangement has changed over the years so maybe you're used to maps being laid out a certain way but new map layouts may be hampering your "sense" of what loops to chain. The new killers have added new interactions and it's natural that trying to remember how to counter all the killers can become overwhelming, and for some killers that are rare to see it can be difficult to remember counters if you're not playing against them constantly.
If you feel yourself not getting better in spite of constantly taking chase to get the practice, maybe watch content creators that teach looping techniques specific to each map and watch how they loop, or record your gameplay and watch it back, at the very least you might be able to identify something you're doing wrong during a chase.
I don't necessarily believe that perks can be "crutch" per se (unless you ONLY use meta perks and don't bother learning different ones), but perks have also changed in the past few years and the ones you use may have different effects that what you remember. For me something that helped me was going for the 3-perk and 2-perk only achievements, they were hard but they helped me get better and maybe you can use that as a personal challenge.
Age does play a role, lately I find myself missing a lot more skillchecks and I can feel my reaction time is not quite there, when this happens I stop blowing up gens and go take chase or go rescue/heal teammates, I try to make myself useful in other ways and taking chase has only helped me get better at looping.
TLDR; go in customs and familiarize yourself with the new map layouts, maybe play killer to learn how to counter killers, watch content creators that put out videos on effective loops and loop chains and not just in general but for each actual map, and take another look at your build and make sure the perk effects are beneficial to your game style, and don't over rely on meta perks.

It could be a passion issue; try new perks or builds to keep yourself engaged. I live for perks

I feel like I used to loop way better too, as in 5-gen runs and stuff. Maybe the killer caliber just got higher or the gen efficiency got lower.

used to be decent at looping. I know why i was. old DH carried me hard back then lol. now i cant even last a good 40 sec in chase lol. then again i barely play nowadays compared to what i used to.

Clutter and odd geometry probably don't help. Loops almost seem designed these days for somebody to randomly have their headphones caught on a branch as they zoom by

This game is designed to give you free seconds if you are awful at the game. Perks rule, skill does not
