Styptic/Syringe Abuse
Do people find this worth addressing? I mean the situations where people get it free mid-chase. All it would take is a skillcheck at the start of a medkit heal to discourage. There would actually be some window of risk involved.

There are anti heal builds out there that make healing take pivotal time away in already straining situations, in my opinion they are a necessary evil. Not to mention if they hit you before the countdown is over it’s just lost like you never had it all. If they’re wasting it on some lower tier killer not packing much. Is there any specific killers suffering greatly against this? If so give those killers an anti heal addon or built in thana if it’s happening that often.

Using the item as intended isn't "abuse". If you want to seem them nerfed just say that (it's a fair position), trying to frame it as abuse is silly.
And pausing to use it mid chase isn't risk free as it is, at least in the case of the syringe.

It’s okay, I’ve got you. You’re fine. Watch, take notes. Your fun is important too, just grab the flashbang when they’re hard tunneling me when you hear me scream “Leon help!”Don’t abuse it though to the point they’re getting no hooks just because you can. That’s how stuff gets nerfed. I’m here to negotiate, just grab the flashbang so we aren’t all dying at three gens to some super oppressive build and kitted to the 9’s killer. There are busted things all over the place, they think they want those gone, but they don’t because that’s a big price tag, and I will be seeking compensation that no bp buff can cover. I’ll be coming for blight, so yeah they should just buff the killers it affects the most with some kind of built in healing slow down to keep the gremlins in check.

The thing is, syringes do exactly what moment of glory and clean break can in only 16 seconds, thats too short. If they made it close to the minute it takes for the perks, than it'd be a lot more fair.
Styptics already got nerfed in the past, only 5 seconds, which is balanced imo.
However, there needs to be an audio queue for killer and using survivor that a syringe or styptic was used, its si annoying to accidentally hit someone who popped a styptic when you couldn't even hear them

How about nerfing syringes to 24 seconds, which is the same time as a regular self-heal
-2 -
U still have to stop to be able to hit it, its not an instant as you're running fix. Where's rhe problem? U literally give the killer time to catch u or gain ground on u just to use it.

The word "abuse" is such a STRONG word to describe a minor balancing issue that will obviously be addressed in the midchapter.
We can't sit here and pretend that BHVR doesn't have a Twitter account. I am sure they played with the syringe numbers a little bit.

I asked if people thought it was worth addressing. Were they intended to be extra Dead Hards in chase? If not, that would be abuse.
Styptic seems intended to counter interrupted heals. Syringe being passive is the draw. Stacking it with abdominal and botany or whatever makes it closer to instant than passive.-5 -
How are those kill rates looking? Still 60%+?
Stop complaining, you are literally catered to with every single patch
2 -
That is way too short, this insane effect needs to have a downside (losing your medkit is nothing) niche perks take ages, why shouldn't this? You activate it at will and theres no preexisting requirements. 24 seconds would be super unfair still. I'd be fine with like maybe 32 seconds and it can't be impacted by heal perks and add ons anymore

I play more survivor than killer. Playing with friends is the draw. Even bad games can be fun.
Bad games as killer have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.-2 -
I still have no idea why they made it so that you have to fully heal and be tapped as a heal to make Clean Break go off.
Such a weak perk due to this. Being healed in 60 seconds is god awful as well, other than saving time from another survivor healing you. I'd never use the perk as a result.

Ye clean break should go to 32 seconds and moment of glory should be instantaneous. The kit however should be a higher timer since its a requirement free use
0 -
Yeah, it needs something because waiting 60 seconds for a broken status effect to go away - sure you can pair it with Vigil (I wouldn't even use Clean Break here). It's just too situational to get value, should just be that you heal someone fully, hit the button to go broken, and lower the seconds it takes for a heal to pop off imo.
I haven't really used Moment of Glory as I think it's also situational.
I prefer more consistency in my builds or at least synergies, but not a bad idea regardless.

better idea for MOM, Search only once and keep the heal timer at a minute. That way your teammates dont necessarily make your perk useless

Well, deep wounds prevents endurance stacking, so I'm not sure why we're taking about "multiple dead hards" per chase. Are you letting survivors mend fully during chase that this is a problem?
Syringe, even with botany and abdominal is about 11.5 seconds. That also takes a perk slot, both add-ons, and consumes the medkit. The fact that the medkit is consumed also shows the killer that this is being used.
So far, the only problem you're identifying is "survivor thing does something, please nerf".

A mandatory skill check making these Dead Hard items slightly more risky shouldn't be this controversial lol

Yeah, that's the problem with perks like Moment of Glory and Hardened, too much busy work for little pay off.
It's crazy to me you have to unlock a chest AND rummage to get Moment of Glory.
Same with cleansing a totem and unlocking a chest for Hardened.
It makes the two perks far too situational to get value from, imo. Making it so you do one thing would be best as it would allow the survivor to go do the busywork and proceed to do gens. Too much offset cost of time for little value, I agree.
Edit: This is why I like Resilience, Overzealous, and Inner Strength as a nice combo.
Break a totem (you procc Overzealous and Inner Strength), so you do the gen faster (you could use Circle of Healing instead of Resi if you wanna boon) - when injured you get Resilience for a nice speed bonus. I love this combo, but obviously can't play it with Kaneki.
MoG and Hardened should be simplified like Overzealous, otherwise I will not use it.

Nope, terrible idea. Why do I have to use a skill check to use a syringe or a styptic? Now you wanna make medkits like a BNP on a toolbox? What?
0 -
Also why make it so a syringe takes as long as a normal heal? It should benefit the user, not make it so that it's the same heal time as someone using it.
Nothing wrong with syringes or styptics and they don't need any changes, especially as they are affected by anti-healing perks or simply hitting the survivor before they get the syringe off or waiting out the styptic.
1 -
You just laid out the argument that too many weak perks have high costs like cleansing/rummaging.
Why would the two strongest add ons that work like Dead Hard, a strong perk, not have some volatility?
BNP is a great example, thanks0 -
there are so many circumstances where you can literally pop a syringe and have 0 problems to spend 24s without getting hit.
But hey, 20s average chase length...well seems like we can see a pattern why people think syringes are bad in chases since they lose not one, but two two health states in timestamp of 20s lol.
It's sad when you see powerful stuff go conpletely under the radar simply because average player can't get use out of it thanks to lack of basic game sense and skill

Do I think a syringe was designed to be used when there isn't time to perform a regular heal (i.e. just before or in the early stages of a chase)? Or that a styptic was designed to be used when a hit was incoming (which would almost certainly be in chase)? Absolutely. Obviously.
I wouldn't argue that it's a healthy thing, but I definitely think that was the intent.

Yeah I got hit with clean break a lot during chaos shuffle, and it was nothing to write home about. I understand the idea behind it but wooooweee the juice is not worth the squeeze on this perk. Every time I got clean break in chaos shuffle I was like
And lemme tell you something I tried everything under the sun to make this perk “feel good”
0 -
Okay, so you think two medkit add ons are intended to be used like Dead Hard
A BNP skill check seems appropriate then0
