Why there's no different gameplay mechanic for killer in this event?
With the extremely mediocre offering, why would I want to play as killer in this event? Unless there's a cool mechanic hidden somewhere that I couldn't find in my games yesterday, what's the difference of normal mode except that we now have to defend gens that can be completed in literally 10-15 seconds?

The cool mechanic is you can't pressure gens. And sometimes your power doesn't work

Killer earns a LOT more bp than survivors, even without the event bp category. Since the entire point of the blood moon event is earning bp, there is little to no point in playing survivor.

and the perks are broken as well. The match i played yesterday agaisnt the hackers only got me 1 Fire up token after the 3 minutes mark when the 5 gens were finished...

Yup, but it's not "accidentally broken", the devs decided that in the quest to stop all regression or progress speed, all other perks, powers, add-ons, powers, and items needed to not work with gens either.
At least Killers can still see blood gen auras? Such generosity. Can't see the pumps, though, even though that is vital knowledge if you want to maybe catch someone between them.

Im kinda fine not getting much. I'm curious to test out gens that are immune to generator perks, I'm adapting my builds to rise to this challenge.
These events change how survivors play, sometimes I find it interesting to observe how the local wildlife will respond to the new stimuli.
Events like these are a good excuse to horse around. In fact, I think tonight is a "Count Barkula " night

Not that many Killers do anything other than play their regular game of DBD when queuing for the events anyway, this time around they've got an excuse not to because there really is nothing for them to interact with! This is a typical complaint for me when it comes to these events and Blood Moon is even worse than the others in this respect.
BHVR, you've got to give both sides a reason to do event stuff or they just don't work. Bone Chill was a blast because both Survivors and Killers could make use of the snowmen. This one, not so much…
I'm still gonna play it because I'm an events gamer first and foremost, but if lots of other players want to sit this one out, I totally get it. I can't help but feel like this year's Blood Moon is a little under cooked.

I don't know what they are testing.... How gens go when there is no regression?

This event honestly encourages slugging and tunneling for pressure as most non s tier killers

I hope I get matched with you. I made a Dracula some food the other day on haddonfield. I’ll meme with you. This game doesn’t always have to be super serious.

yeah, i found out the bad way that the new gens dont count as gens for anything after repairing 3 a ssurvivor all by myself, then got tunneled out and killed, and got 0 points in the objective category...
That means fire up wasn't bugged, it just doesnt count the new gens.
Also kicking those gens do absolutely nothing. I was playing chill yesterday, there was a gen at around 75%? and I decided to guard it for like 2 minutes before letting a feng fill it, and it got completed with 1 can. They have basically no regression. 2.2 cans and they are completed, aka completed in 12 seconds with 3 survivors

This is my major issue with this event. Because most people do not play the top tiers as their Main, and because most people aren't DBD gods, most people need a little gen control in their loadout. Personally I like weaker picks like Surge and Thrilling Tremors (my favorite perk!), or perks like Grim Embrace that encourage spreading hooks for fair play, because I don't like using perks I find unfun to verse (like Pain Resonance), so I use most very strong regression or control sparingly as a result. I do this even on low tier M1s, I limit myself to one or maybe two gen perks because I hate four slowdown builds. It's not that you need the gen perks necessarily, but a lot of people DO need them to do well, for better or worse, and the game is honestly balanced around them.
This mode removes those. Like in Lights Out before it removing crucial perks for weaker Survivor players such as WoO or Lithe, this mode removes generator perks weaker Killer players genuinely may need, and that feels very bad for people who are not as good at the game. It encourages comp, and encourages them to do things like tunnel or camp as a fallback like you say here, Sholf. And it also neuters some Killers with weaker kits who may actually need and benefit from those perks, which feels very unfair to them. It's not necessarily an issue for someone quite good at Killer, who is playing a strong Killer, or who plays a Killer that forces other objectives. But it's a big issue when you're playing say, someone like Doctor, who often builds around generator skillchecks or at least some generator control. It's a big issue when you play someone like Myers, who does not cover ground very fast until his power builds. It's an issue when you're playing someone like Ghostface, who has no chase pressure and no map control without running any generator perks and some chase perks.
It's an issue that is not given much sympathy I fear, because it feels like there's been a huge increase in animosity to people playing Killer even when they don't tunnel or slug at all… But it's still an issue, because it badly degrades the quality of game for everyone. When Killers feel their only shot is to sweat and play mean, that ruins Survivor games, and that makes them sweat which makes the Killers play even harder. Thus the cycle continues…

After the bloodpoint changes for survivor score events this patch I gotta disagree, I get just as many points in my survivor matches.

If you're playing a non s tier it's to give you the fun feeling of getting 3 or 4 hooks before gens are done

You can go hunt for the survivors in transit with the blood jugs. Its different, you won't be chasing them off gens, you'll be intercepting them. If you're here to win this is a bad way to play, but its a new element for killers to work with.
In a mode solely composed of blood gens and balanced for that, it'd be fun.
I guess Blight would be best for it, but I'm not using him atm.

It's the same as last 2v8 they made Survivor gameplay even more interesting with the extra abilities, herbs giving extra beneficial abilities including taking a cage state away which was stupidly strong and made killer the exact same other than adding a couple of new ones but added nothing to them ability wise. Reasoning behind this I would assume is because in 2v8 killer queues are upwards of 15 mins long so to "help" queues they overbuffed survivor to be like "look! survivors more fun! we made survivor easier go play survivor!" yet people still queued killer because you could play with a friend.
Same deal here for Blood Moon, other than Rift challenges I see 0 reason to play killer in this mode. Gens go even faster than regular mode and theres no way to stop them as half the killer perks in the game just don't work so at best you are running chase builds, aura builds or a combination of both. Freddy is trash, Pig is trash in the mode as well 0 reason to play them.
Killer queues are back to being long again due to the Tokyo Ghoul release so BHVR try to combat this by once again making Killer in an event as boring with lazy effort as possible. Haunted by Daylight, another Event where killer was super boring. Not only did you have to go out of your way for the event themed ability of a Temu Vecna skeleton but you could easily whiff the ability if the hitbox slightly comes into contact with even a leaf but doing this you'd most likely lose 1-2 gens I got to a point where I just didn't bother the trade off value wasn't worth it.
The last Event I can think of where I genuinely could say I had fun playing killer on was Twisted Masquerade. Not only did you have the fun interesting commentator trickster girl commenting on everything going on in the match but you also had the breaking of pallets with your mind or being able to teleport a survivor to a hook on pick up. Killer genuinely felt interesting to play in that mode because going out of your way for the scroll actually did something and it was that mode where I first started to play Tiffany because she went on sale and is now one of my top 3 mains.-1 -
Fire up isnt broken, it just doesn't count towards Blood Gens. Regular gens yes.
-1 -
yeah, figures out that those gens dont count as gens
2 -
That would be the issue, perks that take tokens based on gen completion on both sides do not work on Blood Gens.
1 -
I know the issue. It’s not the perk though. It’s the event.
