Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Have you ever had a killer game with no hooks?

We’ve all had rough games but have you ever had matches where you couldn’t get a single hook? It’s probably a rare occurrence but I’m just asking out of curiosity.

Yes. When I got my Evil Incarnate achievement 😉

Seriously yes it's happened like when I was going for adept on killers like old Freddy and Pig. I remember the Freddy one was on garden of pain. That was rough.

    Yes.

But i often don´t play that serious. I think it was a very good looper and then i have no problem trying to catch him no matter what and throw the game because of that.

Maybe i learn some new surv tricks.

At least once that I can clearly remember because it was so memorable (it was an insane SWF that had two names I recalled from comp videos, which is super rare in public matches). It was a couple of years ago now, but the sort of savage beating that really stands out in memory.

And I feel like there were a couple no hook losses I took when I hit that first real difficulty bump when you reach the soft cap and get thrown in the deeper end of the MMR pool, but that was years ago now. My memory is pretty hazy there.

It's been a good long while, but it has happened.

No but I did have a game where I only had one on the old Borgo against a Sprint Burst prerunning BNP/Streetwise/Prove squad. My worst game ever it was a total wash. I was too embarrassed to defend the hook.

Yes, it was very early on in my DBD life. I only really played survivor and I think this was only my 2nd or 3rd game playing as killer. I was trying out Huntress and couldn't get a single throw on target (I'm on controller and never play FPS games, so my aim is awful) so I just gave up throwing hatchets and ended up trying to chase normally and get normal hits. One survivor was too good at looping me to hit him so I then just went for other survivors. But that first survivor who I gave up on just kept following me everywhere, getting pallet saves, flashlight saves and protection hits. And I finally got him down when he went for a protection hit whilst injured, but he was under a pallet. I chased off the other survivor nearby so they wouldn't get the pallet save, but when I then finally picked up that infuriating survivor, he only had Power Struggle and pallet saved himself!

I am able to speak in such detail about this because it really was the most traumatic experience in my gaming life and I have never tried playing huntress or any other killer which requires you to aim, ever again!

Happens if I try playing killer on Switch. Unrelenting is a very common killer perk on Switch because of the whiffing caused by the severe input lag, low fps, and low sensitivity. (Almost every time I go against a Switch killer, they have Unrelenting.)

I try very much to avoid playing killer on Switch.

More commonly a bad match for me still involves at least one hook.

Very occasionally it's none, and those tend to feel veeeeery bad lmao

It's happened. Sometimes sheer incompetence on my part, sometimes I'm trying a new Killer and get a terrible map for learning them (singularity on an indoor map stands out) on top of still unlocking things, and - not so much now but definitely in the past - there was the eternal pain of teams bringing three oak offerings and rpd or eyrie or something. Doesn't matter what you can do in chase if it's impossible to hook someone or keep them down (more recently exponential + breakout squads, but then there was the boil over era etc.) but those don't feel like they should count sometimes.

Yeah, I don't know how this happened but I couldn't help but laugh afterwards, but I had a match once in the last like 6 months or so where not only did I get no hooks as killer, I got zero emblems. To this day I'm not entirely sure how I scored that badly, but it was so funny at the time.

Yep. First game after a break, was playing pre-QOL buffs Doctor on a particularly horrible iteration of a pre-nerf Coldwind (map offering obviously). Didn't bring Corrupt Intervention and there were 4 Distortions so a couple of gens popped before I could even find anyone. Survivors could just pre-run to a million safe structures in a row and I got a hit in before the final gen popped and they got Adrenaline and ran away. I just opened the gate and stood in a corner until they left.

Back in the day sabo squads would break every hook on the map leaving only the basement hooks. So technically I didn't get any hooks those matches.

Oh yes, many times trying to learn Nurse back in 2018. I gave her a go for weeks and weeks, and lots of those attempts absolutely had zero hooks. Mostly I couldn't ever get comfortable with her with the controller, but a teeny tiny part of the issue was the two or three (hundred) bugs that infested her. Mostly me though.

Yep happened last year against a team of comp players pub stomping. They sent me to an Autohaven map and they got really good RNG where it was just pallet into pallet into pallet. I couldn't get anybody down and the gens went by at a blistering pace, the end

Very rarely but it has happened.

Usually only if I'm playing a brand new killer or going for an achievement or challenge or something though.

Not often, but when I do it's usually something like "Nemesis vs Finesse swf "

Watch out for that end game tier 1 Nemesis he sure is angy

Yeah it's happened to me before. Sometimes you get rolled. Try to figure out what went wrong and what you could have done better.

The last one I remember was as Bubba on the old old Haddonfield. I got a SWF that knew how to run every tile perfectly and it was probably the most unpleasant game of DBD I have ever played.

Hmm, I think I had one game where I got absolutely steamrolled by the survivors. But it was a long time ago, probably right at the time SBMM got introduced.
I think I was playing either Trapper or Wraith and got sent to Garden of Joy.

I've had several games against obviously cheating survivors (the noclipping, instahealing, blocking the hook prompt type) over the years that have prevented me from getting any hooks.
