Things in Dead By Daylight that annoy me, part 2 Electric Boogaloo

No real intro required I feel, I like complaining about DBD almost as much as I enjoy playing it, so have fun reading about things in DBD that piss me off to no end

Lets start with something simple, this stupid window on Groaning Storehouse's main building

I cannot really put into words just how much I hate this one particular window, this window and the junk next to it lets survivors loop around the outside of the main building, then get back inside, then vault it, then get back inside, then vault it again, with nothing standard 115 killers without a mobility power can do about it. Like it's not even particularly overpowered and the rest of the map is fine but trying to catch anyone that loops this damn thing when I'm playing most of my mains is so ######### boring because there's barely any interaction, just running in a straight line over and over.

Speaking of boring, this entire section on Haddonfield

Literally why is there just nothing here, like the map is already killer-sided as is due to the lack of resources and loops, so why is there just nothing here, no pallets, no windows, literally nothing. The map honestly would be better off if there was another house here. More things that force interaction is a good thing BHVR, add something here and maybe actually make Haddonfield not suck please.

Third complaint about maps, I ######### hate Borgo's colour scheme

Call the old version bad all you want due to it's bright orange making seeing scratch marks difficult and being awful for colourblind folks, I'd take that over not being able to see anything at all. I do not know what it is about this colour scheme but I swear I get a Blindness II debuff in real life everything I get it, I cannot see anything unless it's right in front of my face on this map, and unless survivors are wearing bright neon it feels like all of them blend in perfectly. This is one of the reasons why I love Coldwind's daytime colours, I like being able to actually see what the hell is going on in the video game I am playing instead of fumbling around looking for a slightly different dark colour in a map of mostly dark colours.

Here's a quick complaint about something that isn't a map, Demo's Daily Ritual for landing 5 charged Shred Hits is still broken and makes no sense whatsoever. Why isn't it just 5 Shred hits in general, Demo very rarely ever actually charges a Shred beyond what is needed to actually make the Shred happen, I really hope this gets changed when the quest overall comes out because I swear I get progressively more pissed every time I think I've gotten it only for the game to say "No, lmao".

Fifth thing, Auto Aim. I am so ######### sick of getting my hits sent into a rock or the edge of a window when I am aiming square at a Survivor, I have lost so many games off of this bullshit system deciding that I was not actually aiming at a survivor right in front of me, I was actually aiming at the ######### rock behind me and I sincerely wish I was I kidding, because that exactly thing has happened to me more then once.

Want me to keep complaining about maps? Well I'm going to keep complaining about maps, Father Campbell's Chapel's bullshit window RNG. I swear to God that goddamn double window spawn has cost me more games then any other case of map RNG. There is no balancing reason for why two very safe and easy to fast-vault windows should EVER be that close to each other, and then for some reason this only ever happens when I play killer, if I play Survivor I get the single window spawn, so, you know, salt on the wound and all that.

One more map complaint, Rotten Fields has absolutely ######### nothing to work with as Survivor and is one of the most killer-sided maps in the game, 70% of the map is just deadzone with like one of those really small pallet structures that killers can just lunge around. Please give this map the Dead Sands treatment and give it some extra pallets, Killers have to actively try to lose on this map.

Oh yeah one more complaint about maps, Badham's stupid house with the gen in that little cubby, no structure in the game should have 3 windows that close to each other, ever, at all, and don't try to say it's fine because "Oh just break the breakable walls 4head" because breaking the walls barely helps and just gives Survivors more ways of accessing one of the safest maps in the game, I hate this goddamn building.

And finally please stop adding Achievements that require the other side to bring things in order to get them, Vecna's RNG Achievement is already bad enough, we don't need crap like Awakened Anger on top of that. Achievements should be something that the player can work towards by themselves without relying on external factors, not praying that this match will contain a specific Killer or Survivors bring a specific item, I am a Achievement Hunter, I get dopamine from watching the number go up on Steam, stuff like this annoys the ever living hell out of me.

Rant over, it should be pretty telling that most of these complaints are about maps.

    Vecnas legendary items annoy me so much from a lore aspect cause it doesn’t make much sense what the powers do. Why would the eye allow you to become invisible when it doesn’t give you the ability to in the book? It’s such a niche issue but just confused me a little.

    but I will say I love the retrieve item mori so much along with every other part of his kit.

    Not only is rottenfield empty, the whole coldwind realm keeps spawning the new weird tiles that are always super unsafe and sometimes don't even have a window on them.

    I am nitpicking. But on survivor, I wished they changed the survivors red aura to another color, on some maps with weird colorscheme like coldwind, I often struggle to see the aura at all.

    I also wished they would make the notification bubble when a hunter hooks less abnoxious. I get it bro someone got hooked there, I don't need a flashbang bubble taking half my screen, it sometimes even hides huntress's hatchets.

    But generally speaking, color choices in DBD are... questionable. Maybe the map designer should study color theory and accessibility for a sec. 🙂
