Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Long Killer Queues - Don't release over powered killers and then watch people suffer and quit?

If this is the new way to cash grab, time to find a new game.

    this has been the well known easy for it for a long time, same as with ultimately broken new survivor perks

    Not the same thing as having a perk be ridiculous in PTB vs in real game so hold up on whining on that one lol

    And "this has been the well known easy" - wut? This is a response to Ghoul so stop pretending and … make more sense

    @NarkoTri1er is right here.

    It is a trend that some killers release in an overtuned state and swiftly get nerfed after release. Xeno, Chucky and Dracula all had their powers nerfed.

    While this is not consumer friendly practice imo. This seems to be the way things go now.

    Last survivor perk that got released in an overtuned state was mft and that long overstayed it's welcome. In that regard, BHVR has gotten much better as it's been a while since end transmission.

    My queues are like 10 seconds at night. You're probably playing at peak hours.

    Sadly it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth too. Only Killer I didn't have so I brought them out of the gate and regretted it after I found out how miserable they are. Never even used them yet.

    A few other killers I have barely played either because I didn't want to waste time learning how to get good only for them to be changed.

    Now a new survivor is coming with all perks that will buff swf even more. Are you kidding me!

    MFT made me quit the game for 6 months along with cheaters running rampant.

    I was already ground down before by old DH.

    The Ghoul has made me want to quit too.

    You need to do more testing with things before release and listen to some of the content creators.

    Hey BHVR stopping kicking loyal fans in the teeth just for a quick buck please.

    Funny this comes up. Scott Jund made a video on it about ten days ago looking at the killers who have overall been buffed vs nerfed and showing its usually more buffed.

    Killers, perks (survivor and killer) are going to get adjusted after release. With killers sometimes its a mix of things, sometimes it is in one direction because the killer is either too weak/strong, but there's no evidence there is an overall strategy to release overpowered killers to 'grab money' and nerf them. The game would have died off long ago if that was true.

    nah it's worse with survivor perks since if they aren't nerfed in ptb they'll stay unchanged for months or years before being looked at unlike a killer who'll get nerfed pretty quickly

    I'd rather take 10 minutes queues than having to sit in queues for more than 15-35 minutes like in 2019/2018 for it to be the same people each time and then a DC to happen before they added DC penalties.

    Dont worry, the first nerf is here as the sales are probably slowing down. I assume next patch will be an across the board giga-nerf.

    yes, this is about Ghoul and also about general problem with releasing overpowered stuff just for the sake of people mass buying characters (most recent example also Gabriel Soma and MFT that was literally way too powerful for couple of months before nerf) until enough money has been gained.

    Honestly, I have to agree here. If I only compare it to Killer or Killer things (since I dont think that a comparison between Survivor and Killer really works, since people might enjoy one role more than the other and therefore see broken stuff different), Ghoul is probably the most miserable experience I ever had in DBD. And I also suffered through original Eruption and even old old Legion and Ghoul not only almost made me quit the game but also made me realize that I will never want to watch the Anime because of the way BHVR implemented the character (this is not about the gameplay, but how cringe he is with all that screaming and the super cringe Mori which seems to be for 12yo people…).

    @Topic:

    Agree. And IMO this is just a bad way of doing business and honestly quite scummy. It happened a few times already that BHVR overtuned things on purpose to increase the sales. First time it was with Ash Williams and Mettle of Man, simply to make people buy the chapter who are not completionists and who are not interested in the character. Perk got nerfed to be one of the worst in the game.

    Then Mikaela, Survivor-only paragraph, meaning that she would offer no unique gameplay. Circle of Healing was OP in release form but is now too weak to actually be considered (IMO the version before the latest Nerf, so increase by 50% and being able to Self-Heal at 50% speed was fine… I would even argue that it was a bit too weak and people were losing games if they were booning, but it was not too strong anymore). And I dont think they would have even needed to make CoH OP because Mikaela is super popular and her design would have probably been enough.

    And now The Ghoul - they made him too strong because people were critical of Anime in DBD, so they needed an incentive for people who might not like Anime to buy him.

    IMO this is just really bad. Because the Devs clearly know what they are doing with this, they are not dumb by any means, they know if something is THAT badly balanced.

    And I am honestly worried about FNAF, because it is also a license which many people dont really like. So I would not be surprised if Springtrap releases OP to make more people buy the Chapter. Just so that FNAF-Fans start to hate Springtrap for the experience he gives them in DBD as Survivor and only to make Killer Mains feel bad because the OP Killer will be nerfed.

    Xeno was bugged on release. Thats why the cooldown was almost not existent. They nerfed it AND fixed the bug. It was pretty severe and intoduced a problem Xeno has to this day: the hitbox not aligning with the animation in many cases. This made the killer very frustrating to play.

    Chucky got his skill ceiling lowered dramaticaly just shortly after release in that they limited his turn rate when attacking in slice & dice. I know people that stopped playing him for that reason alone because he felt watered down for them. He was still incredibly strong, yes, but that made him a lot less interesting for a good amount of people. Then they removed an entire aspect of his kit afterwards but lets not get into that for too long.

    This is not about strenght. Its about what the customer expects from a product. A killer releases in a very poowerful / busted state = many people start enjoy playing them and grow accustom to their mechanics and power. Then the killer gets (rightfully) adjusted and people feel unhappy. Its a trend at this point and not one that im too fond of.

    I hear you, but I gotta say that Overbrine Eruption was the worst period for me, hands down. Folks intentionally trying to keep other players locked in a game for up to an hour sucked. The Ghoul has the silver lining of ensuring the game doesnt drag. It just sucks as survivor that your relief at getting out of the match is generally short lived because you load into your next game and it's another Ghoul 🤣

    Not nearly as salient a point when Soma is an original that can be bought with iri shards.
