VPN Killers.

Just versed a Legion where they had about 500 ping the entire match. How in the world is this even fair? I’ve gotten hit through pallets and windows when I was across them multiple times, they hit me like they are from the Milky Way!

It’s so frustrating how much an advantage VPN’s give killers, it’s like a second power at that point..

Regrettably the devs don't care about your experience or any fairness with respect to survivors getting hit. The network philosophy for the game is called "Favour The Killer." And it does exactly as it says, it favors The Killer with hits. The last time I checked Server-Side Hit Validation kicked in at about the 350ms mark but even then it's not always consistent, as is in your case where the ping reached 500ms. A few years ago, the devs said that hits continue to be done on The Killer's end and that they didn't think it was fair for a killer to hit a Survivor and for the hit to be rejected, that it felt frustrating for them. They have been silent on the frustration on the receiving end when a Survivor gets hit due to lag. Killer players love the advantage, and not enough survivor players talk about it. So for the most part, it's largely undiscussed and people get attacked about this topic. Killer players have been accustomed to hits being handled on their end since the beginning and even with the introduction of dedicated servers, very little has changed and this is exactly what the devs have stated. The stream from a few years ago where they demonstrate the lag, advantage and discrepancy, they basically said oh well for the survivors. They were really focused on what the killer experience is.

I purposely downgraded my internet because I got tired of being punished for having good ping. Can’t tell you how many times I swung through a pallet and get stunned on the same side as a survivor and they walked away Scott free.

After downgrading my internet I actually get the hit that I deserved now. And I save $29 a month!

It is very unfair, but the devs have made it very clear that they are never going to enforce ping limits in lobbies or even let you see the other players’ pings in lobbies to decide for yourself if you want to enter into an unfair match.

One of the things this game has needed to address for an age since dedicated servers, and they make it worse every patch.

The amount of times I swing at windows and hit survivors who have long stopped touching it is insane, I've been swinging at windows greedily more and more.

    Fix it, pallet/windows interactions especially.
