I think aura perks need to be nerfed.
The fact that killers can run four aura perks including addons is honestly a major crutch and a pain.
You're already making it so survivors can't run more than one exhausted perk, so why not give survivors this? You nerfed distortion into the ground and it gave the stealthy survivors literally no counter to any of this.
If you don't make it so they can only run one aura perk can maybe make it so they have a long cooldown or something?

Comparing exhaustion to aura reading lol.

yeah I already know I'm gonna have someone make fun of me for this. Troll elsewhere please. I want engaging discussion as to where people want/don't want such a change maybe? not just what you said. If someone can make a straightforward thoughtful post on this maybe prove me wrong somehow.

People say this, but they never expand on why having multiple aura perks is some major crutch causing killers to auto-win games.
If an aura perk reveals you, a different aura perk triggering and revealing you doesn't do anything more. If a killer only has aura perks, they are lacking gen defense perks so gens should fly nor do they have perks to help end chases so they are solely reliant on the killer already having a good power to end chases.

Yes but at the same time there's killers who are skilled enough to not need gen regression perks, as in those who have insta-downs or are just amazing at the game (unlike myself when i play …any game). These days survivors kinda suck, swfs rely more on being toxic than doing generators, and that one solo queue survivor ends up getting the short end of the stick if these killers run full aura perks.
Also at the same time once the aura perk does its little timer animation you can add on the other one, say like BBQ triggers, then leathal adds on that extra 2 seconds. Then you go over to where you last saw that survivor and kick a gen for nowhere to hide, or open locker for darkness revealed.
-11 -
So do you believe the better player shouldn't be able to win then?
5 -
No not at all, I believe both sides should have a chance to win. Its just its why they nerfed object back in the day, survivors used to use it for constant aura reading so they made it have a cooldown due to the unfairness it gave killers.
It feels the same here, except its more killer sided. Imagine if weave attunement focused as far, that would be a nightmare keke…but I already have my beef with weave. Thing is maybe aura perks need to be reworked in some way…? Maybe even give bp back for using bbq?
-4 -
Oh no you don't have a discussion. Stacking aura reading would be nowhere NEAR as powerful as being able to theoretically stack MULTIPLE speed boosts per survivor.
5 -
I refuse to reiterate, not worth my time.
-10 -
there is no such thing as being skilled enougg so that you do not have to use gen regression/slowdown perks to win, there is just a gap between killer and survivors in terms of skill, mostly terrible survivor chase knowledge from survivor side.
Not to mention that almost every aura perk has proper basic gameplay counter.
-1 -
All aura = No gen slowdown. You will be able to crank gens out faster. Distortion is still a decent perk.

Pandoras box has already been opened. It's my opinion outright seeing the full movement of anyone in the game was a mistake from the get go. I've always aired on the side of it just being a killer instinct type notification where the area is highlighted but you can't see exactly where I am whether it is a survivor or killer.
1 -
Killers need a way to deal with swf... Swf basically have full aura reading via the use of coms so they all know where the killer is without needing any perks. killer needs to use up perk slots to get this sort of level of aura reading, you rather it basekit like swf have?
2 -
Look, I'm gonna be straight with you. Many killer perks have been nerfed to hell, back, and then straight to hell again. Aura perks are some of the only perks that are still worth running. Nerf those and you will have nothing but gen slowdown every game.
5 -
no thanks :3

You know I'm right. There was a reason exhaustion was literally added to counter multiple exhaustion perks being used because even the 50% increased regen time while sprinting still wasn't enough. Think about it why do you think exhaustion was made a thing when NURSE and BILLY were arguably at the peak of their power.
4 -
IMO, the Distortion nerf was undeserved and should be reverted.
-5 -
Ah this is the direction we are heading now where Survivors now want Killers to not use Aura perk builds. Would you rather 4 gen blocking/regression perks again? For specifically Huntress I use Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, Nowhere To Hide and Agitation purely just go for long range hatchet throw clips.
What's interesting is Aura perks design wise condition Killers, at least me anyways to leave the hook, I see BBQ proc I go for a hatchet throw then follow, If BBQ doesn't proc if i'm lucky ill kick a gen near a hook and oh look Nowhere to hide procs theres 2 people near me so I can work out my next chase. I thought thats what Survivors wanted? Killers not camping.1 -
You are comparing apple and oranges with OoO and killer aura reading.
OoO was nerfed because it had no limitations. No activation requirement aside from looking, no timer, no range limit and no cooldown. It killed killer stealth and made mind games at tiles, which are imperative for many killer characters, impossible.
On the other hand, afaik, every killer aura reading has an activation condition and is time or range limited. Plus part of them already have a cooldown.
Also this is such a non argument with a niche scenario.
"Because this specific killer character/player doesn't need full Gen slowdown and my teammates suck, killer tools (in this case aura reading) should be nerfed for every killer character/player to accommodate me as a pitiful solo player."
So can we say that because certain survivor player or builds are harder on other killer characters or less skilled players, everything should be nerfed for them?

You're pointing at exactly what made all my friends quit the game.
Last year, we picked up DBD with 6-7 players, and today only 2 of us are left.
The others either quit or only play killer now because survivor just wasn't possible for them.
In 300 hours, they couldn't learn anything because their games were just: constant vision, constant tunneling, or camping.-4 -
really should of only changed the requirement that tied it to boldness that encouraged excessive hiding.

Personally as a killer main, I hate using aura perks. I think it too distracting and take you eyes off chases and gen protecting. Honestly, I rather see all aura reading perks gone for both sides and get more chase related perks instead for killers . I miss the whole hide and seek part of the game.
"If there is no aura perk then how do you know where survivors are?" Easy check gens. there is also spies from the shadows (can be countered with one of jakes perks) and my personal favorite is whispers (nothing counters it except for your own skill lvl). Another favorite is discordance which is great paired with surge.
A perk I use have as my 4th perk was predator because it made tracking survivor scratch marks so much easier and was a great counter to light weight until they changed it to an aura reading perk. I was soo upset that they messed up my fav perk.
But then again this is my opinion and I played before there was any aura reading at all, maps were bigger, and gens were much faster so my mindset is much different from newer killers.

You do not want to face killers with anti gen builds. you dont want killers to proxycamp, you dont want killers to have Aura perks. you dont want killers to be able to tunnel.
What left is it for killer that we should have accordingly to you ? To me it seems like nothing.3 -
If I was being forced to make a decision one way or the other I’d be closer to saying most aura perks could use a buff than I would a nerf. Most people would rather see a killer running a bunch of aura perks over stacking slow downs, myself included. Less holding m1 and more chases? Yes please.

I run full aura perks (on both sides) so obviously I'm not exactly going to agree with you nor you me.
But for clarity since your basically talking about killers, I mostly play M1 killers, Trapper is my main, the only killer who I play that has any true speed is Oni (eventually)
No slow down, no camping, no tunneling find chase, catch, next. There are counters & I'm fine with that, never had an issue with pre nerf distortion, no issue with lithe, sprint burst ect, if a survivor wins a chace so be it.
& most experienced survivors will know a few hooks in what all my perks are (I do change them up but been full aura for years) i'd rather play against a killer who wants to get in a chase & play the game than one who wants 4 slowdowns & tunnels everyone out!
Again no issue with counter perks old or newto aura reads, personal preference & all & obviously I'm biased but I don't see it as crutch or over powered except on nurse but what isn't 🤷🏻♂️ & I don't play nurse!

I've started running blastmine with residual manifest and the amount of DCS is astonishing. They really clutch with aura that much, we even 4 outted a nurse running no where to hide lmfaoooooo

Why don’t you show us some videos of yourself playing killer with 4 aura reading perks so we can see how OP it is? I assume that you will have no problems getting 4K’s every time

Or to actually doing gens, rather than making it 'OTR, just without the endurance effect'.

gens would have been nice.

The game isn't the hide and seek dark and spooky horror game that used to be, back in the day when we only had a few or a perks jeans used to take a lot longer, in the game revolved more around them. Now the amount of time taken off the gyms it's pretty substantial, as well as the entire game is centered around chasing while protecting gems. The game just isn't balanced around having survivors hide anymore. If you made this post 8 years ago you may be correct, but now it's kind of needed. Especially with how much gin regression has been nerfed in the past 2 to 3 years. Starting and ending chases quick fast and easy is the number one most important thing in the game now.

Crutch? In this economy? Cue the J. Jonah Jameson laugh. For most players, no slowdown is a guaranteed survivor victory. Learn to run better.

You are absolutely right. The game needs a complete redesign. It has currently become nonsensical. The generalization and transfer of perks are unsustainable. Now, any killer can have auras or stealth, etc., regardless of their potential or traits.
By affecting the abilities in the same way for killers so different from one another, it’s leading the game into chaos in terms of balance, and, of course, the polarization of the community due to everything this causes. To give you a clearer picture, it’s like if perks started to appear that allowed teleporting to generators, just like Freddy does, and then we normalize it.
Since this is not the relevant thread, I won’t add anything more. I just want to say that, even though they mock you for the exhaustion perks issue, you’re absolutely right in general, and you’re not the only one who sees it.
The absurdity is obvious, and it’s clear that a generalized chaos is being normalized within the game itself. In other words, they are keeping a system that was designed for a game that no longer exists.
“I don’t know where we’re going to end up... when the foundation is broken and the results speak for themselves, the logical thing is to rebuild, not to insist.”

There are way too many aura perks. And if it wasn't effective, people wouldn't run them. During this event that's all everyone ran, majority were aura related perks. Distortion needs a buff. You should start out with more tokens and a bigger storage capacity for them. The best counter is playing with friends and everyone running Shadow Step.
