Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

My vision of DBD...

I think DBD would be much more enjoyable like it was in 2017 wait hear me out first.

I think almost no survivor has a problem with a killer being overpowered and/or losing. losing to perks that carry a killer is what leaves a bad taste in my mouth at least.

I would take an OP Killer as Long as there was more resources and much less oppressive slow down perks. This would give killers their excitement and survivors their chases back.

the lack of resources in the maps on top of slow down perks is what made Kaneki the Dull Merchant 2.0

Just my take on it.

Reminder of what 2017 DBD was like

Nurse could have 5 blinks, and had no cooldown

Haddonfield was still in its release version

Old Dead Hard was a thing

No basekit BT or anticamp metre so Bubba could just face camp you to death with ######### all you can do about it

Ruin still affected skillchecks and made playing matches with new players more of a nightmare then usual

Survivors could fast vault just by holding shift next to a window

Huntress could have 3 Iri head hatchets at once

    Adrenaline affected Freddy’s power

Trapper’s power could still be completely disabled because sabotage still broke traps

Wraith could be completely shut down by flashlights because Lightburn was still a thing

I really do wish people would stop going “DBD was better back in the old days” when the old days were full of busted and unfun bullshit

The game has only ever improved as a whole with age, wanting to go back to a time where the game was less balanced and less polished is ridiculous

In my case, what I would keep from the old DBD was the lighting and the atmosphere of the maps. Bring back the heavy fog, the dense corn and nighttime Coldwind.

Don't forget pallet vacuum as well.
There were so many broken things in old DBD, but not all the things of old were bad either.

    • Ranks, and matchmaking that took this into account. (Before mid-2020 somewhere at least).
    • Medkits with different effects, not just a dull speed increase.
    • Loops outside of main structures were stronger. With so many good anti-loop killers in the game now, I think some of the old loops would make sense to implement back. Not the god-awful long-walls and infinites though.
    • The old survivor animations.

And hooks permanently broken and being able to full heal after a pallet stun as well.

The only maps with low resources are farm maps sometimes (I concede). So I don't see how that's the problem. And there's not really ANY perks that can carry a killer at this point. If survivors all decide to get downed at the end because of NOED, I'd ask "Why'd you do that?" In order for a killer to make use of perks like that, or slowdown perks, they have to be giving quick chases and/or pressure. It seems like that's what killers are giving y'all, and you're saying, "They still shouldn't be able to win."

Fix the farm maps so they'll actually have more/better stuff to run to. But after that, what's to complain about?

It's not just the farm maps, Haddonfield also spawns an abysmal set of resources almost always.

iirc there's also one of the McMillan maps that does too, but I forget which one so I won't throw my weight behind that.

In what universe was 2017 dbd a game with op killers besides nurse

early dbd was PURE survivor sided plain and simple unlike today where they're way closer in strength

only reason dbd may have felt killer sided early on was players not understanding the game (for example not understanding the strength of looping)

Tbr I'd take old dead hard if it had the condition it currently does of only 1 use per hook state
